3" PVC pipe. Just some scrap piece I found at work.
MacrossFA19 wrote:Hey lobo a lttle of topic...What do you think of that cordless dremel? I bought a 300 series one with the cord and the speed adjuster switch, and ended up thnking about buying a cordless, but was afraid of the loss of power during a bash. Also Does it have the speed adjust? That really comes in handy when sanding and cutting for me.
I love the cordless Dremel's I have. The little 7.2V is by far my favorite. It only have 2 speeds, but they're perfect for what I need. The bigger ones a 10.8V 10 speed. I mainly got it for when the other one's batteries go dead. A little more bulky and harder to use than the other one but still pretty handy. It's also nice to have the higher speeds but I hardly ever run it over 2.

Plan on it. Going to try Shockwave next but would eventually like to make them all. I'm really enjoying scratchbuilding. Plus, I honestly don't see Hasbro making them. Not with only a 4 issue comic series.

Lobo this is looking great! You continue to amaze me!
. . . and I've received critism for my messy customs table. I'm glad to know I'm in mixed company!

Thanks guys!
Another update will come as soon as I get off my lazy butt and get some work done.
Plus I started another project. It's another custom Alt and hopefully I'll have it done by BotCon. I started it after TFM announced his 3rd project.
Thing is about my desk is that it's messy, but it's perfectly organized. I know where everything is. Except when it's something I really need it. Then I can't find it anywhere.

Alrighty! Probably my last update until the Con.
Got the wheels finished, the chest details done, and redid the head. I'm not sure if I going with this head yet. It seems too small of a face now. But Meg's face in the concept art is small. Dunno. If I can find a little larger face that still looks like Megs, I might make one more.
The wheels started out just like the earlier pic. I made wedge shaped pieces out of thin styrene and glued them onto the spokes. This is what I originally planned on doing but the styrene sunk in between the spokes and because the spokes weren't exactly spaced, it looked bad. So I filled in everything with green putty. Once dried, I sanded it into shape. Then filled in low spots and air bubbles with putty again, and sanded again. Did it 6 times until I was happy with the results! I then used a saw to make the grooves in the wheels. The rivets where made using glue and a pin. It worked alright but there's some spots I have to do again to make a nice raised bump. I have no idea what these will look like painted but hopefully they'll show through.

Upper torso:

And Megatron toying with pathetic fleshbags.

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

Damn! With great projects coming from Lobo and TFmaster, I don't think my project will even get consideration, heh! This project is so amazing, I'll be upset if it doesn't win anything!

Lobo, will you please splice your DNA with mine?
Absolutley astounding.
I am working on starscream now, finally seen him in #2, and I can see how much work goes into scratchbuilding. Figuring out the transformation, and then making every damned tiny prece. My friend you are simply amazing.

Thanks guys!
All the red spikes where cast from resin using a clay mold. Used a pen tip for the wheel spikes, a mechanical pencil for the forearm spikes, and a missle from a SW toy for the chest spikes.
Will you buy me diner first? j/k
So, what do you guys think of the new head mold? Mainly the proportions. Here's a comparison:

I still need to touch up the grooves.
It's not exactly perfect but I don't think it looks too bad.
Let me know what you think.

I think the proportions are off a little on the face. If you look at the drawing, the face is a little bigger and wider. The bulky area at the bottom of the helmet comes roughly to his 'cheekbones', and comes in to cover a little of the face, which yours doesn't.
To be honest, that's only a minor niggle, and only really worth worrying about if you're going for total accuracy. It's still an astonishing job as it is.

Are you kidding? That thing is F---g amazing. I only wish what I am working is half that good. As a Scratchbuilder I am not even a pimple on your ass.

Yeah, the main problem with the head, is the proportions of the face, and maybe the neck, dont forget that practically no TF from HasTak as ever got a real neck
Look at this diagram

My suggestio? start with the head without helmet, at a similar size of the final thing, then once the proportions are done, start to make the helmet over it
