My local Target just put out a large assortment of ROTF figures, but I only want to buy characters that appear in the film, and weren't in the first one.

My choices include:

Sideswipe
Sideways (I think?) Decep. car
Breakaway (A. jet)
Demolisher
Rampage

Those are the ones I can remember.

A) are any of those characters definitely in the film?

B) are Demolisher and Rampage part of Devastator?

IN the movie, and Demolisher and Rampage do not (toys) form Devastator.

To be more precise, they are part of Devastator, but their first release of toys are made so, that it is unable to combine with each other- they have only robot mode and alt. mode, no combined mode (a better version of constructicons is rumored to be coming in 2010 that have proper modes AND are able to form Devastator)

Transformers.com has a list of movie characters but I'd take it w/ a grain of salt cause Megatron was left off the list.

Thanks for the info. I decided to start with Sideswipe. Also good to know not to waste money on Constructicons until the merge versions come out.

are any of THEM in the movie?

only strato and smokescreen are non movie the rest are in rotf

There's a lot of misinformation out there. The only way you'll know for sure is to see the movie. If you're that worried about buying toys that aren't in the movie, then don't buy any until after you see the movie. The toys will still be there next week.

Sideswipe is in
Sideways is in for about 10 secs and mostly as a car
Breakaway not in
Demolisher is in twice - he has a clone
Rampage is in but the toy is not accurate

Technically Stratosphere is in the movie. He just doesn't transform. And isn't really a transformer to begin with

Hey! Saw the movie on Friday morning (midnight showing) and so I can tell you exactly who's in the movie, who's not, and which toys to get if you wish. Some of this might be considered spoilerish so I'll refrain from posting a complete list!

I don't think having that model of plane in the film constitutes saying Stratosphere is in! Cos that'd mean there are about three of him!

I think Blurrz's implying that "the stratosphere" is in the movie; as in the layer of Earth's atmoshpere. That's why he states it really is not a transformer.

Well instead of speculation, why don't we just get someone who knows exactly what bots are in the movie, and what bots are in the game, and what bots are rehashes from the 1st movie, and what bots are other universe repaints..

that way we all have a clear list to make a choice from..that would also help me in deciding which bots are mandatory to me, and which are subjective..

Or you could just wait until Wednesday and see the movie. I don't know what the big deal is....

Buy whatever you want and just keep the receipts. Exchange/return what you don't need after you see the movie.

Jolt actually is in the movie for about 2 brief scenes. He performs prime/jetfires combintion by "electrolyising" or something.

Although oddly, he's red at the end of the movie. Im not sure what colour he was before, becuase he was underwater for most of the time he was in robot mode. I think the one that formed part of Dev was still yellow though. It all struck me as a little odd, but then again, the whole mess of mixed ideas that is the movie constructicons is a mess...

Starscream's a future wave? The RotF one's already out in the UK, virtully the first voyager available in the line (cirtainly the first that wasnt a repaint in a 2 pack).

This list could be very helpful to collectors who wish to buy only "screen characters" from this toyline as it is very hard to sort all of that out by just looking at ROTF toy packages.

He is CLEARLY an Audi R8.
