Help with G1 Perceptor

Could someone tell me how the original 1984 Takara Perceptor's chest piece stays attached while he's standing up? Mine has seen slightly better days, working on getting him back into excellent condition. I don't see anywhere that the chrome chest piece could clip onto the rest of the body... is it just tension built into the piece that holds it in place? Thanks to anyone who could point me in the right direction!

That's a side view of his microscope mode. I'm not exactly sure what you mean when you say 'clip onto the rest of the body', but the piece is meant to tab into those rounded nubs on his stomach. If yours is doing that and it won't stay up it's due to wear as the piece is head up by friction/tension in robot mode.
He's been reissued by Hasbro so it would probably be easier to just buy the reissue version.

It's best to assume every link I post is NSFW, and every post I make is just me taking the piss.

Thanks, Loki. I just wasn't sure if there was a small clip that broke off somewhere along the line. It looks better now, I used two tiny pieces of sticky tack to hold his chest piece up in place. I'm happy, it stays up and you can't see the yellow sticky tack.
