HOS Prime renders

Got a great pic of G1 Op or BW Megs? Whether it's 2-D or 3-D it's welcome as is any other form of art outside the custom figure world.

HOS Prime renders

Postby TM griffith76 » Fri Feb 23, 2007 2:34 pm

Just playing around with the renders of the Prime model I built using Maya. Too lazy to add in colors and proper textures though :p

Enjoy!!

I agree, you have to get this in color and with texture.

I doubt I wanna add color in, I did have the color scheme ready but those are in separate parts. When I can free up more time I'll arrange the parts to be machined out. What would be a good size for this? say, 8"?

I was fantasizing about making some HoS customs when I thought it'd be rather keen to make them such that they could sit and ride on actual scale model train set tracks.

I've since done some research into the model train hobby and found out the most popular scale is HO, except that that's roughly 1:87. It's apparently great for its intended purpose of letting hobbyists model lots of landscape into smaller sets, but such small trains would be rather difficult to transform for customs.

Then I found G scale, 1:24 (actually a range of varying scales around this, that all run on a single gauge of track), designed for outdoor/garden type sets. I'm thinking that HoS customs in 1:24 would be nicely comparable to the Alts scale.

I'd also dreamt of HoS customs that, when transformed into their locomotive modes, could actually run on model tracks too. Unfortunately, real model locomotives seem to have mechanisms that take up most of the interior bulk of the locomotive. Trying to figure a way to stuff those mechanisms into a custom Prime's or Bumblebee's legs would be a tad trickier.. =)

I think one of the few ways your gonna be able to pull this off "simply" would be to get a power supply and train motor for you off the smaller sets and intigrate into the larger size tracks, only problem is im not sure if theres enough power in the smaller power supply to travel throu the larger rails. But if it does work you should try to make the transformer lighter so not to strain the motor.

so whats the price on these $300?, also is it possabel for you to make one half the size for cheaper,

Yep that's me. It can't be smaller and I had initially wanted to make it stand at 8" instead of 10, but the cutters can't reach in for that size and certain parts are too small and too easily breakable so I have to enlarge it instead.
