XD I'm not sure I follow that. I only put that there because ravage said it in beast wars and it was one of my favorite quotes. Though its true I like the decepticon side, I also believe in peace. So even if I have the symbol it doesn't mean I am completely decepticon. Truly my motives are for my own and not for any side. Ravenous watches in wait on both sides. ;DTorino_Prime wrote:You miss my point Decepticon SPY!!!! If the Decepticons prefer Rodimus than he must be inferior to Optimus. Also there's already an evil Decepticon version of Hot Rod.

Top ten reasons why Optimus Prime, despite the way he is presented/written, is no better than Rodimus:
10: Optimus led the war for so long that his homeworld actually became a burnt out husk where it got so bad he had to make the Ark, or else make his most loyal followers die by starvation.
9: The end result of Ark's maiden voyage: He crashed on earth and was out of play along with the best troops that remained in the Autobot army for 4 million years, which basically meant he concede Cybertron to the Decepticons, er, I mean Shockwave and his crack team of idiots drones that got best by Spike and Carly.
8: The end result of that is that he brought his war to Earth, where he had to stay to protect it. Also, at that point Cybertron couldn't support his troops anyway. Which brings me to....
7: so he sticks to earth, and every trip he made to Cybertron he basically leant no long term support for any Autobot resistance cells still fighting for his home. The one time he did, it was to basically say, "Hello girls, your boyfriends are alive! No, we don't have any Energon to give, but I help you punch one-eye just this once. Okay, bye now!" Granted he did get the moons back.
6: Also, if Ark and the Nemesis weren't the first mass exodus to leave Cybertron, why didn't he seek out others for help? Surely there must have been at least one Autobot colony that remained unmolested by warfare for the 4 million years he was on earth.
5: So if Optimus Prime had all these space adventures, why didn't he get more non-transformer allies? At that point, he basically just focused on containment, little of anything else. Well... he did get that giant space alien kid to help him out once, but I don't think the kids parents would let Prime take him back to Earth.
4: I swear that must have been at least a handful of episodes were Prime was taken out easily. Like house of cards easy. Did I mention TFwki.net has a whole listing of the many deaths of Optimus Prime? http://tfwiki.net/wiki/The_many_deaths_of_Optimus_Prime
3: Wheeljack: "Hey Prime, I'm gonna build this super-powerful Autobot to help us, but he's gonna be dumb as hell and pick fights with you. Is that cool?"
Prime: "Sure, better make 5 of them."
2: I assuming that the only reason why Megatron and his Decepticons made it back to Cybertron for 1986 movie is that they successfully ransacked the earth for enough resources to not only finish taking back Cybertron but also have enough Energon to hold up there as well. Otherwise why return to a dead world that can't sustain you and your troops? Speaking of dead worlds....
1: Ultimate Doom: So Prime gets blackmailed to pulling the lever which brings Cybertron to Earth's orbit. Yay, Cybertron, a dying world, is saved, meanwhile 1984 gets to experience the movie 2012 (or The Day After Tomorrow) first hand.
Wow... I think I just painted Optimus Prime as the George Bush Jr. of the Transformers.... I need to lie down now.

Wow, this reminds of a thread I made years ago, so I'll post it again from memory:
Top ten reasons why Optimus Prime, despite the way he is presented/written, is no better than Rodimus:
10: Optimus led the war for so long that his homeworld actually became a burnt out husk where it got so bad he had to make the Ark, or else make his most loyal followers die by starvation.
- Meanwhile Rodimus defeated Unicron and Galvatron and liberated Cybertron in ONE DAY!!!
Meanwhile When Rodimus crashes a ship he saves Ultra Magnus and the gang from some rapacious Junkions and liberates Quintessa!!
8: The end result of that is that he brought his war to Earth, where he had to stay to protect it. Also, at that point Cybertron couldn't support his troops anyway. Which brings me to....
Meanwhile Rodimus secures Autobot City and actually works towards ensuring Metroplex can actually join the fight!!
Rodimus succeeded in resupplying Cybertron and occupying Cybertron!!
6: Also, if Ark and the Nemesis weren't the first mass exodus to leave Cybertron, why didn't he seek out others for help? Surely there must have been at least one Autobot colony that remained unmolested by warfare for the 4 million years he was on earth.
Rodimus is the better diplomat too?!!
5: So if Optimus Prime had all these space adventures, why didn't he get more non-transformer allies? At that point, he basically just focused on containment, little of anything else. Well... he did get that giant space alien kid to help him out once, but I don't think the kids parents would let Prime take him back to Earth.
Rodimus doesnt really get any points for aggressive leadership here...
Perceptor.. far more worthy Science Officer than any bot dumb enough to make retardobots. Rodimus makes better personal decisions?!!
Rodimus more faithful protector of Earth?!
Rodimus never did that....
Wow... I think I just painted Optimus Prime as the George Bush Jr. of the Transformers.... I need to lie down now.

Top Ten Reason why Rodimus is better than Optimus:
10: Under his leadership, Rodimus began repairing all of Cybertron. Something Optimus couldn't afford to even day dream about. In fact, Rodimus even managed to bring new energy sources to Cybertron for a little bit.
9: Optimus could barely get Ark off Cybertron. Rodimus had entire fleets at his command.
8: Rodimus was not only working out of Earth and Cybertron, but he had the Autobots working as a pan galactic force for good, like Starfleet.
7: When Paradon blew up, he gave all the refugees a home on Cybertron. Granted he was a dick about it. Meanwhile, Optimus and his troops were refugees themselves on earth.
6: Rodimus managed not only to stop the Junkions ( a lost Transformers tribe) from killing his firends, but turn them into allies, all of which he did before he was given the wisdom of the ages.
5: Under his command, Rodimus basically created his own version of the United Federation of Planets, which is great because now he had the whole universe hunting for the Decepticons. If you're hunting, give your prey no place to hide.
4: Has Rodimus Prime ever died? He did loose the Matrix from time to time, but more to the point, he took on Matrix enhanced opponents without dying in the process as Hot Rod. That's not something you hold against him. In fact, anybody who used that as a reason against him must answer this: How good is Orion Pax's combat record? Oh yeah, he died and had to be rebuilt as a better bot.
3: Rodimus, "Preceptor?"
Preceptor: "Hmm?"
Rodimus: "If we're gonna build a city sized bot, let's make sure he's smart enough not to start rolling around on the floor on a whim."
Precrptor: "Got it."
2: So Rodimus got five years of peace before the Decepticons showed up again. In that time he fortified Cybertron and Earth and made it so that the only place safe enough for a Decepticon to be in is Char. Char is a burnt husk of world that provides next to nothing in the way of resources. All he had to do was make a blockade around the planet, and you have a prison world.
1: Rodimus' very first act as leader was to kill his own species' Satan, and take back/save his race's home world. And it didn't take him half a day. Oh, and Earth now enjoys benefits of pan galactic colonization and interstellar commerce.
Wow... Rodmius is the Captain Krik of Transformers. Now that Fansproject Protector can't reach online retail fast enough.

4. He has the TOUCH!!!
3. Do you remember the 2006 Decepticon Siege of Autobot City? Do you remember you decimated half

(BTW I love Grimlock, but in Gen One: War of the Dinobots he is a retard)
Rodimus has Ultra Magnus, Springer (the Han Solo of the TF 'verse) and Metroplex. OF COURSE RODIMUS NEVER DIES HE HAS EFFECTIVE SOLDIERS TO PROTECT HIS FLAMING SELF.
Meanwhile Prime is all alone facing a Decepticon Armada. And even DEATH can't stop Prime from wrecking some 'cons! He might have died less if Bumblebee was less of a pedophile ("get in me Spike!") and oh I don't know maybe picked up a plasma rifle maybe Prie would die less...
Let's go over Prime's squad
Ironhide- He might have kicked ass on Cybertron, but on Earth... he is over the hill.
Prowl- Coward... Prime I think that strategy is dangerous... not **** you are at war with MEGATRON!
Bluestreak- who?
Ratchet - Better Doc than Perceptor
Wheeljack - Mad Scientint
Jazz - Probably has great Cyberpot....
Sunstreaker - Narcissistic Douche
Sideswipe - Thanks for the Rocketpack... that's it
Cliffjumper - All mouth!
Huffer - Whiner
Gears - Decepticon Stooge
Brawn - The Joe Pesci of the TF workd
Bumblebee - Pedophile...
Windcharger - wasn't even worth a death scene in the 1986 snuff piece

So when the suicide mission failed to kill the selected useless Autobots and the target Decepticons Prime was left STRANDED on a foreign planet with a bunch of second rate bots. So of course he dies a lot he has no support.
Meanwhile Hot Rod has Ultra snd co. to aide him or guide him to victory!

SG Rodimus actually inacted an assassination plot against Optimus and Megatron so that he could become Rodimus Prime. Pretty awesome touch. I thought it was stupid that when Megatron came back as Galvatron they gave him the Evac mold though.

BTW How many times did Ratchet revive Prime? Maybe, if Perceptor wasn't so incompetent Prime's wounds would not have been fatal. If Ratchet had not been KIA, then Prime MIGHT have survived. In fact, I am pretty sure he would have survived.

Anyway the whole fanatical fanboy thing is something that generally turns me off of the fandom in question regardless of what it is. And the funny thing is a big portion of it is hypocritical nonsense. The same people that accuse Geewunners of being elitists and disregarding everything but G1 because it was their favorites are the same people that do the same **** for Armada, or Cybertron, or Animooted, or Bayformers, or any other first exposure to the fandom. See everyone has that mentality, it's what nostalgia is.
The thing they need to realize is that in a fandom as diverse as this one is there's no such thing as "the best" piece of fiction. I mean Hell G1 itself has no less than, what, six or seven alternate realities/variations? Then there's the people that erroneously think that most popular = the best. It doesn't. They're the same people that also think that Final Fantasy 7 is the best game ever. It's not, it's not even the best Final Fantasy game, but I digress.
Point here is there's no such thing as "a true fan". Anyone that thinks otherwise needs to go outside, talk to a girl/guy, and maybe get some booze. Because man, that's just silly.
tl;dr A children's cartoon/toyline about giant robots from outerspace locked in a millenia old civil war is not srs bizniz. People need to stop acting like it is.

I think the problem with Rodimus' depiction is simply due to typical bad writing in 80s cartoons. I think the movie provided the seeds of a lot of good ideas that could have been used in season 3 but it just didn't pan out.
I think the intent for the character of Rodimus Prime was to provide a different kind of leader from Optimus Prime. Optimus was a more typical experienced leader archetype who was usually right and seldom displayed doubt in the role of leader. It was because he was a seasoned veteran by the time we are introduced to the character in season 1. When we get to season 3, we are starting off with Rodimus as he is learning how to be a leader. Certainly, the character came off a bit too much with angst and such but I can see the intent behind the poor execution, which was to show the journey of a new leader. It could have been a sort of "Rodimus: Year One" if it was done better.
As I see it, the Optimus Prime of Transformers Animated was how G1 Rodimus Prime could have been written. Animated Optimus was a leader with issues from his past, an inexperienced Autobot who didn't feel up to the task, who had flaws, but nevertheless rose to the occasion when it counted.
