"Yeah, like I can ever stay sitting down. Thanks though. Appreciate i, Firestar."

She turned to see Moonracer struggling with an inhibitor claw.

"Hey Moons, come over here. I might be able to help you with that. I've had to deal with a thing or two like that in my justice inforcement days."

“Hah! Well, we might be in luck for once. We got a faint reading. It’s Cybertronian in origin. With any luck, it’ll be something we can use. It’s a few kliks from here.”

Elita's optics lit up. She had expected there to maybe be some native structures, some sort of civilization that was indigenous to this planet. The last thing she expected was to encounter anything else that was Cybertronian in origin. Chromia then added one more caveat to her report.

“Could be Cons. I don’t really think it’s all that likely but, you know…”

"Hot fraggin' slag!" she exclaimed, practically jumping out of her seat. Knowing full well how uncharacteristic such a reaction was for her, she held out her hands. "Sorry. That's just-wow-not what I expected to hear. Recon is a must now. I wanna know who else is here, 'Con or not."

Unsurprisingly, the volunteers started to roll in hard and fast.

"I'll go. I'm still in good enough form. Best to get prepared for what's out there," Hurricane said.

"...I'll go too. I'm not exactly a medic, but I know how to shoot, and I'm not wounded either. Ughh, if I can get this thing off, that is.." Moonracer added.

"Yeah. Priority one is getting those inhibitor claws, and any other 'Con restraint tech, off and scrapped. Then we'll send a team to check out whatever Chromey's found."

Elita then walked over to Thunderclash and sat down next to him. He was in stasis, from the looks of it, but their short supply of medical personnel were doing what they could for all of the injured.

"You did great back there," she said to him, having no idea if he had any level of current consciousness or not. "Better than a holovid."

Firestar gave the newcomer a smile as she introduced herself. "Hello, Windblade. Welcome aboard. You've picked a hell of a Solus-forsaken time to join us." She let out a chuckle.

The rescuer heard Chromia mention something about reading signals. She was about to volunteer to go out until Moonracer bring up their inhibitor claws. She looked down at hers with frustration. "Too bad we can't blast these off."

“Maybe not blast em off,” Chromia said as she dipped back into the bridge for a moment, digging something out of one of the storage panels. “But…” The dull sizzle of metal followed as Chromia stepped out, holding her inhibitor claw in one hand and a plasma torch in the other. She tossed the inhibitor claw down toward Nautica. “Salvage what you can from that.”

Chromia looked to Firestar and the rest who were imprisoned on the Nemesis. “Free inhibitor claw removal. Step right up.”

Road Rage nodded in understanding as Patchwork started working on Boss’s injuries first. She certainly understood that her damaged knee joint wasn’t the top priority when others were worse off than herself. The crimson femme had lived with the broken knee for several cycles now. She could easily survive a couple more breems as she waited patiently for the medic to get to her.

The former bodyguard’s patience had paid off as Patchwork eventually got to her and made the necessary repairs to her right knee joint. It wasn’t quite as good of a job as a full-on doctor like Ratchet would have done, but under the current circumstances it would suffice. In many ways, her knee looked as if it had been patched together with some spare parts in a very unorthodox manner. Not that she was complaining. After all, what did one expect from a medic named Patchwork?

“Thanks,” Road Rage said to Patchwork as she pushed herself up and got to a standing position. She bent her knee joint slowly before straightening it again. It seemed a bit stiff but the crimson femme would have it broken in in no time. After flexing her knee a few more times, the former bodyguard gave Patchwork a smile and a thumbs up before moving away and approaching the side viewport.

“That’s a lot of snow and ice,” Road Rage muttered to herself as she admired all of the pretty white powder. She then overheard Chromia and some of the others talking about detecting readings out there that appeared to be of Cybertronian origin. Hurricane and Moonracer had already volunteered to venture out as Firestar seemed ready to do so, as well. There was just the problem of their pesky inhibitor claws.

Chromia wrote:“Free inhibitor claw removal. Step right up.”

And just like that Chromia had found a solution to that problem. Road Rage stepped away from the viewport and approached the blue femme. The crimson warrior walked with a bit of a limp due to the continued stiffness she felt in her repaired knee joint, but it was far better than it had been and there was very little to no pain to speak off now.

“I’m ready to have mine removed,” Road Rage said to Chromia with a smile as she stood beside Moonracer, who also needed her inhibitor claw removed. “With my knee fixed I’d also like to volunteer to go on the recon mission I overheard you guys talking about. I have a flight mode, so I could scout ahead from the air to get a good look at whatever it is that’s out there.”

The former bodyguard then paused for a moment, looking briefly around at the various injured mechs within the main cabin. Thunderclash caught her optic before Road Rage returned her attention to Chromia. “Um, unless, of course, you need me to remain here to help protect the injured. Whatever you need me to do it’s no problem.”

Windblade watched as Firestar thumbed at the metal claw on her chest. And in response, Chromia seemed to dig around the cockpit for something. She emerged in a moment, holding a small blowtorch. But as it hummed an electric buzz, the small blue flame that trickled out of the machine was... Wholly unimpressive to Windblade. Though everyone seemed excited for it, which made her excited too, at least.

She pressed her hands to her hips. And it was then when she felt the hilt of her blade. Optics widening, she grasped its slender features and slipped her fingers into its curved forms. Drawing it from her side, Windblade activated it into its long, ornate, purple self. Purple light coursed through the room, lighting the dim shuttle with a soft glow. Her fingers gripped her blade softly, yet firmly. Muscle memory forbade her from doing anything else.

"Perhaps... I can help?" Windblade said timidly, despite her imposing katana.

Hurricane watched as Chromia and Nautica started using plasma torches to remove the inhibitor claws. Hurricane figured he'd get his taken off as well. He stepped up to have his claw removed by one of them.

It was good to hear several others were also going to be joining him. "The more, the merrier, I suppose." Road Rage also happened to volunteer for the reconnaissance.

Road Rage wrote:“With my knee fixed I’d also like to volunteer to go on the recon mission I overheard you guys talking about. I have a flight mode, so I could scout ahead from the air to get a good look at whatever it is that’s out there.”

"That would be quite wonderful, but keep in mind the frostiness of this stellar entity. Your flight mode may not be completely effective, so do take some precautionary measures." Hurricane spoke. He wanted to know what was out there, but he didn't want to risk anyone getting injured any further. He waited patiently for one of the femmes to torch off his inhibitor claw.

”Salvage what you can from that.”

When Chromia’s inhibitor claw clanked against the floor board, Nautica shot a petite yet still vaguely toothy grin towards her friend as she gave a half-handed salute to the silver-clad warrior.

“Aye aye! Let’s see what treasures they may hold!”

Hurricane then stepped up towards the violet and gold femme shortly aw after he had volunteered to partake in Elita’s spowly growing scouting party. That inhibitor claw wasn’t going to do him any favors. She reached up and began to fiddle with the hardware. When the control panel locking mechanism wasn’t working, she summoned a small plasma torch from her forearm. The tool’s armature swung the torch into her hand and she set to work on physically removing the device from Hurricane’s back.

Rotorstorm looked around at the assembled group. His skills as a field guide could greatly benefit Elita’s search party, but he figured he might be of more use if he remained back here on the shuttle to help defend Thunderclash and the others sticking back in the event something happens. Best to be prepared for the unforeseen.

The blue heli-former then walked back over towards Thunderclash’s side as Patchwork seemed to handle his repairs.

“How you feeling old man?” Rotorstorm asked with a small nudge and a hearted smile.

“Alright, and you. Are. Free at last!” Nautica exclaimed, the inhibitor claw she was working on dropping off Hurricane’s back a second after. She dusted her hands off as the plasma torch recessed back into her forearm. The engineer began to playing shoo the Turbomaster away with her actuators. “Go on then, go join the party. I’ve got explosives to reengineer.”

Elita was glad to see the inhibitor claws coming off. The less Decepticon junk around, the better. Plus, it would give Nauty something to rejigger into something even more useful.

"Alright, let's see what exactly is so attractive about this planet," Elita said as she got to her feet and walked over to the bay doors. Pressing the activation switch, the doors opened and a blast of frigid wind almost froze her circuits in place. Her optical sensors were reading temperatures well below what most organic creatures she had encountered could withstand. Slag, she wasn't sure how long a Cybertronian could withstand this.

"I can tell you one thing, it's not the weather," she huffed as she stalked off the shuttle with her plasma rifle locked in place over her shoulder.

Hoven- Shuttle

It was dark....it was cold...and then...there was light. Lancer's optics flickered on and she groaned long and loudly. Her body felt like it had a head on collission with a speeding train. Her processors were spinning rapidly, and her optics continued to flicker a bit more before she became stable enough to concentrate on what had transpired.

She remembered the escape, the jump into hyperspace, and then BAM! She had lost consciousness. Now though, since she was back online, she looked about, while uncovering herself from some debris. It seemed like everyone was here, but a lot of her comrades were bad off compared to her. It didn't seem like she herself suffered any injuries but the concussion that had knocked her out.

Thunderclash was K.Oed. Was he alright? Lancer was frowning as she looked about her peers. Then, there was a very cold blast of air. Her attention was immediately drawn to Elita, who was armed and seemingly ready to venture out into what seemed to be a frigid hell.

"Out of the frying pan and into the deep freeze, eh?" She asked. She got up painfully and worked the kinks out of her joints. She then located and checked her weapons. Everything seemed in order. She walked over to her pink Commander and very good friend, the purple and orange knight saying,

"Well, count me in, Elita. If you think something out there could possibly help us, I got your back."

“Sounds reasonable, Moonie,” Chromia said, moving around behind Moonracer and slicing through the attached portions of the claw. She took some care to avoid anything vaguely explosive, but with the claws deactivated, removing them like this was easy. “There you go.” Chromia tugged and pulled the claw off, tossing it in Nautica’s direction.

“I’m ready to have mine removed,” Road Rage said to Chromia with a smile as she stood beside Moonracer, who also needed her inhibitor claw removed. “With my knee fixed I’d also like to volunteer to go on the recon mission I overheard you guys talking about. I have a flight mode, so I could scout ahead from the air to get a good look at whatever it is that’s out there.”

“Yep, yep,” Chromia said, moving over to Road Rage next, “Sounds good.” With practice, Chromia was getting a bit faster. She got this claw off rather simply and smiled at Road Rage. “Get a move on.” Chromia turned for the next mech when she noticed Windblade with her big honking blade out. She smiled a bit wryly. “If you think you can help without slicing someone up then by all means.”

Chromia spotted Lancer next and rushed over to her before she could step out into the cold. “Slag if it ain’t cold. Not gonna last too long out there,” Chromia commented before slicing off the inhibitor claw on Lancer’s back. “There.”

Noting Rotorstorm’s claw, Chromia moved over to him and gestured for him to turn around. As she did, she noticed Thunderclash begin to stir. His optics flickered back online briefly.

“I’m…alive…” Thunderclash uttered in answer to Rotorstorm.

After having his inhibitor claw finally taken off, Hurricane felt a finer sense of freedom. Turning around to face the exit of the shuttle, he found Elita stepping out into the white wasteland. Hurricane wasn’t one to wait around and waste time, so he too, stepped out behind her.

The frostbite hit Hurricane’s electrodes like a freight train. Temperatures this cold wouldn’t keep a weaker lifeform alive, and time certainly wasn’t on the bots’ side this time. They’d have to rush to the signal, or they might not… might not…

“We have to get there quickly,” the turbomaster through the wind, “Anyone who’s going out has to come now, we won’t have much time till we get there.”

His red visor gleamed. Hurricane looked around at everyone in the shuttle, scurrying to stay alive and to get out as soon as possible. He thought he saw Thunderclash online his optics briefly.

“Stay safe, Clash.” He mumbled softly, and stepped out of the shuttle.

Firestar was aware of the need to get the more important members of their group free of the inhibitor claws. Even so, she was frustrated, stick with nothing to do until her turn came up.

Thunderclash woke. Firestar immediately rushed to her commander's side. "Sir, can we help you I'm any way?"

He obviously needed tended to by their doctor. Firestar's first aid skills were useless in her commanding officer's case. She flagged Patchwork over to Thunderclash.

The sound of some sort of energy discharge made Firestar jump. The large femme located the source of the noise, the newcomer. She was holding a blade of some kind and offering assistance.

Firestar gestured toward Windblade and pointed to her own claw. "Yeah, I could use the help. I'm more useful out there than in here "

Hoven- Shuttle Doors

Lancer thanked Chromia for helping to remove her inhibitor claw. Without that thing on, she felt a surge move through her system as her energy flowed freely through her body as usual. She flexed an arm and grinned a tough little grin of happiness. Now she really was ready to help Elita and the others. Only thing was...burr...she shivered. It was cold, and that was an understatement. Whatever it was out there....she was prepared for it. She just hoped that they wouldn't all be frozen solid before long.

Meanwhile, Rotorstorm was very pleased when Thunderclash had replied to him. He smiled warmly at his Captain and clapped him softly on a shoulder, telling the leader of the Turbomasters,

"Yes, and boy are we all glad to have you back. We've crash landed on some kind of iceball world. The girls say something's out there, but I'll stay here with you. I have a hunch my skills will come in handy.", he said with a joyful confidence.

Rotor would then move a little away from Thunderclash and turn around as Chromia had instructed, soon feeling the same relief that Lancer had when she had been freed from the inhibitor claw.

"Thanks, M'Lady blue.", said Rotorstorm, taking Chromia's hand and kissing the top of it. "Better get to the others though.", he added.

'warb', came the sound of an energon blade turning on. Rotor turned to it's attention immediately, seeing the geisha-masked red and black winged femme. He heard the newcomer say she wanted to help take off inhibitor claws with her weapon of destruction and he moved towards her and Firestar, saying in a snarky tone, "Kid, you better make sure you don't slice any extra kibble off her. I don't think we have any spare parts around here.", he made a gesture to all who were already injured.

Boss pressed his feet against the floor in a successful but difficult effort to stand. He was still a bit woozy, but not dying. Others were in worse shape; mainly Thunderclash. He had to press on. But.. He wasn't exactly in any physical shape to go out, and he wasn't exactly a medic.

"I'll.. stay here with the others and watch the signals," said Boss, "I need.. time to think and recuperate."

The Turbomaster subcommander fought himself within his head. He was so stupid back there. Taking on Falcon while they were trying to escape? Why? Was dying for the sake of a fight worth it? Did he even deserve to be in the role of leadership he was in? Everything about what had happened ate at him. Though they made it out alive, he had failed his team-mates multiple occasions in the process..

Boss rubbed his cranium with frustration at himself as he went to sit in the cockpit of the small, crashed space vessel.

"Thanks a bunch, Chromey!" said Moonracer after Chromia cut off the claw. She felt much better already.

Moonracer noticed Boss walking off without getting his claw removed. Weird. Moony called out, "Hey! Aren't you gonna get your claw removed?" But Boss kept on as if he didn't even notice. Probably deep in thought. Mmh.. Well at least he's staying here with the others who can help. I got things to do.

At that, Moonracer went to pull out her rifle... but then remembered she had lost it. "Slaggit! I forgot my weapon! Gah.. Didn't even steal one from a seeker. You guys think there might be some in this dump?"

With Chromia’s help and the assistance of the femme they picked up on the Predator’s ship, the inhibitor claw removal process was nearly complete. Nautica’s pile of salvageable claws was already piled up higher than expected.

“Alright, anyone else in need of declawing? No? If not, I’m gonna get to work tearing these open.”

The violet and gold femme began to tear into the first claw utilizing her wrench as a means to pry open the main access panel. The metal bent slowly and resisted the engineer’s prying. Damn things were built to be tamper-proof alright...

It didn’t matter if their task seemed dauntless at the moment, Flash couldn’t help but rise up to volunteer alongside Elita-1’s search party. Even if there was a blizzard out there, it had to be more exciting then watching the nerd-bots try and fix a ship.

“Cmon Hurricane!” The Turbomaster exclaimed in his normal upbeat demeanor, “Try and keep up!” Stepping out of the Shuttle, the red and blue Autobot began to hike his way through the snow following behind Elita-1.

Road Rage turned to look at Hurricane. The blue and white turbomaster’s words rang true. She would have to take some precautionary measures to ensure she wasn’t blown off course if she took to the skies at all. “You’re probably right. I’ll wait until I get out there and judge the conditions first before deciding whether it’ll be a good idea to go airborne.”

Chromia then walked over to remove the crimson femme’s inhibitor claw. Road Rage remained still so that she wasn’t accidentally cut instead of the claw. It didn’t take long for the blue femme to finish her work and the device hit the floor with a clank. “Get a move on,” Chromia said before moving on to another mech.

“Thanks, Chromia,” the former bodyguard said as she stretched her back and walked over to the open hatchway where Elita-1 had already stepped outside. Road Rage stuck her head out and was immediately hit in the faceplate with a strong gust of frigid wind. “Yeah, it’s definitely not the weather,” the red warrior said, echoing Elita’s own earlier comments.

Hurricane wrote:“We have to get there quickly. Anyone who’s going out has to come now, we won’t have much time till we get there.”

Road Rage turned and saw that it was Hurricane again, speaking words of wisdom. He quickly stepped out of the shuttle and into the bitter cold. The former bodyguard stood at the threshold for a brief moment, looking back at her leader, Thunderclash, who was still badly injured but at least now conscious with Rotorstorm not far from his side. “Take care of him, Rotor,” Road Rage said before exiting the craft and entering the blizzard beyond.

Outside, Road Rage descended the ramp to the frozen ground and glanced around at all of the wind-swept snow and ice. “Yeah, I think I’ll remain down here. I doubt my flight mode would last too long up there in those conditions,” the crimson femme commented, casting Hurricane a knowing smile and nod.

Hoven--Open Tundra

Elita-1 looked back at the others who were emerging from the shuttle.

"Well, I haven't been able to use my alt mode in a while. This seems as good a place as any," she said, before taking a step forward and seamlessly transforming into her Cybertronian racer alt mode.

Hitting the accelerator, her wheels skidded out under the frozen terrain.

"And I'm clearly a little rusty, heh," she chuckled before heading forward at a more controlled pace. Hopefully the terrain would cooperate and she could pick up the pace. At least they all knew where they were heading, so getting lost wasn't on the list of things they had to worry about.

This time.

Within a moment of Firestar muttering about how she still needed claw removal, Windblade whipped around with nigh superhuman speeds and deftly cleaved the claw in half. The massive, purple Energon blade came within inches of Firestar's chassis, and did so within a blink of an optic. The shimmering, electric glow left behind in the air was the only trace that Windblade had even moved. She didn't even realize that she had, either.

As the claw dropped to the floor in two solid thuds, Windblade instinctively looked throughout the room for new targets with the calculating efficiency of an expert. Her blade was held at the ready, pointed downward at her side and clutched with both hands. But as she stood at the ready, she blinked twice and lowered her blade.

She didn't say aloud what she was thinking, but internally, she could do nothing but stammer.

... What just happened? I wanted to cut it off, but... It felt so familiar, so right. Who am I? she thought, disarming her blade and placing the hilt on her side.

With her blade no longer active and dangerous, Windblade's posture seemed to follow suit. She stood in an almost meek manner, almost completely forgetting her strength.

But as she shrank in how she held herself, she noticed that a search party was departing -- and she desperately wanted to join. There was something about getting the chance to see something other than four gray walls and a roof. There was so much out there in the universe other than the insides of a spaceship, and Windblade wanted to see it. And perhaps then she could finally figure out who she was.

Following her newfound compatriots, she stepped out on the tundra and was punched with the harsh winds. She shielded her face from the snow and watched as the others transformed and rolled out from the shuttle. She felt the wind over her wings, rattling their panels and spinning the ducted fans held within. She wanted to fly.

Wait, she could transform and fly? Wait, of course she could. She was one of them, so why not? There was always something there, something that she could move yet not feel. It was like second nature -- the way she twisted the gear and the metal on her body folded -- no, she folded -- into the fuselage. Her wings turned downward and the fans held within began to spin. Her feet became the ailerons and her hands slid around the nosecone.

With a quick thrust of her fans, she shot into the sky at blinding speeds. The wind ripped at her wings and frost covered her nosecone. She felt as though the entire planet wanted to yank her down to the ice below, but she was flying! Oh, how she was flying! The cold wind split around her wings and screamed through her fans. She knew that she couldn't stay up for long... But how she wished it would never end.

She circled the shuttle and awaited the others to pick a direction, and from there she would follow.

Hoven- The Bitter Cold Tundra

The party of explorers was growing, the purple and orange femme noted. She had been the first to step outside of the shuttle with Elita-1, but not the last. They were soon accompanied by the Turbomasters Hurricane,Flash, and Road Rage as well as the newcomer, Windblade, who seemed to have forgotten who she was. If no one else joined them, Lancer was pretty confident this group could make due while the others stayed with the ship. That said, she was putting a lot of faith in everyone, but she also had no reason to doubt them. They knew where they were going, and that in itself would make things a whole lot easier. Getting through this Primus forsaken weather to whatever it was had a beacon out there, was another story. Regardless of whatever odds they were up against, the warrior was ready to face it head on. She was armed, she was prepared, she had the best friends one could hope for here with her, and the cycles of the Cybertronian fight for survival continued.

She turned her t-cog and her body responded with quick clicks, whirs, and ratchets as her robot form became that of a formidable looking armored vehicle in purple with orange armor pieces. She revved her engine to a vicious growl and drove out across the white frigid land to Elita's side. It was comforting to be in her alt mode once again. She had felt so cramped up and encumbered in all the ship travel and whatnot. Sure....an icy cold death trap wasn't the best place for driving, but what was?! Options were far and few. You took what you got, and you better be damn thankful you get anything at all to drive on.

"Ready when you are, Lita.", said Lancer. It was now or never.

Shuttle

Rotorstorm was satisfied with his decision to stay back with Thnderclash. It seemed Boss, Firestar, and maybe Moonracer would stay behind with them. Maybe Chromia would stay too, but Rotor doubted that. She was the spunky go on adventure type. Then again....Rotorstorm was the spunky go on adventure type too, but he was staying behind. Why? Because heroes were ultimately in charge of defending the weak and keeping their comrades safe from whatever may transpire, that's why. He thought about this with much pride.

After this, he returned his attention to their captain and gave him a warm smile. Rotorstorm would do anything to defend their leader, and overall, to make sure everyone preserveered in this harsh clime. With that, Rotorstorm decided to have a seat next to Clash and yawned, offlining his optics and resting against the wall. At the sound of anything threatening, or the address of one of his comrades though, he'd be back up in a jiffy.

-Hoven – Outside-

Moonracer walked out of the shuttle, knowing weapons weren't an option. The teal racer felt less secure without her trusty rifle. After all, shooting is what she was best at. But she wasn't just gonna stay behind. Cowering behind just because of lack of weapons? Stupid!

At that, Moonracer transformed into her race car mode, but then quickly realized how it wouldn't do well in such terrain. Snow was getting up in her internals because of the lack of clearance. She transformed back and growled in frustration, and simply walked after the others while she folded her arms over her chassis in attempt to stay warm.

-Shuttle-

Boss pressed his hand against the back of the seat he had previously sat in, and pulled himself back to standing position. He realized he had forgotten to get his inhibitor claw removed. Not a big deal. He could just remove it himself.

The Turbomaster walked back out into the back where the others who stayed were. He looked over at Hurricane and Thunderclash briefly, and decided to avoid disturbing them. Though Boss was stumbling a bit over his own feet, so he wasn't exactly silent.

Boss picked up a plasma torch that was set on one of the passenger seats, and tried to steady his hands enough to cut the inhibitor claw off. The first hook of the claw he cut fairly cleanly, but the second one was more challenging at its angle. Slowly he moved his shaky hands with the hot tool along the claw, and felt his spark pulsing slightly harder. Slowly.. carefully..

As the first hook of the claw was sliced off, he felt the plasma torch slice slightly across his armor plating. Boss grunted slightly, but then moved on to the second portion. He felt his hands shaking even more the second time, but he was determined. Slowly.. Steadily.. Carefully..

Suddenly his hand slipped, and as he felt the inhibitor claw drop to the ground, he also felt a shallow slice in his chassis. "Fr- frag.." he grunted to himself as quietly as he could. He felt anger starting to get the best of him. The desire to prove himself is what drove him to do it himself. He sensed his pride beginning to get in the way of his vision.
