I've read somewhere in the site that Takara is releasing a ver 2 of MP Hotrodimus (fixes all the "errors"?). How will I know I got one?

Which one did you order? If you ordered from BBTS or TFsource then it would have said which one it was in the product title. Or are you concerned that you ordered version 2 and got version 1 instead?

I'm still planning to get the Takara version. But from what I read in this site there is (?)should be a version 2 that fixes all the "mistakes" in the design. How can I tell if I ordered one without opening the box?

By ordering from a trustworthy source... As far as I know, there's no way to tell shy of opening it up.

Yeah you've definatelly got to open up the box & look inside. because fans are breaking these things & returning them.

You definately should open up the box,make sure it's the version 2.0. then examine the toy,to make sure their are no broken parts/pieces & no serious scratches on the toy like the yellow wing spolier.

FWIW,Takara nor hasbro,don't use any type of exspensive or rare Tape to seal the Transformers toy boxes. The tape hasbro/takara use is the cheapest & most generic tape available.

I'm sort of a expert at opening up my sealed TF toy boxes. then buying translucent clear scotch tape for $1.00 & re-sealing the TF toy boxes.
I usually buy the 3/4 of a inch wide thickness tape. As long as one removes all the tape on the box & replaces it all with brand new tape. it will be extremly hard for anyone to tell if it's opened or sealed.

Takara nor Hasbro doesn't care what tape they put on the TF toy boxes. takara & hasbro often use different tape brands & different tape cut sizes.

I also plan to get a MP 09 Rodimus prime version 2.0. I'm gonna order this from the only site I trust & thats bbts.com. even then I still plan on opening up the box to make sure it's the 2.0 fixed version. and more importantly I didn't get a re-sealed broken/scracthed version some other fan broke & returned to bbts.com.

I was impressed with joel at bbts.com. that joel refused to take anymore returns of the Takara MP -09 version 1.0. because he felt far too many fans were breaking them or trying to return the 1.0 because they wanted the 2.0 instead.

I wonder what the legality of not taking returns is? If its a new product and it breaks cos its not up to standard then you should be entitled to return it. If its broken due to poor design or manufacturing that is, not if its been introduced to a 5 year old with a hammer.

Looks to me like all they're saying is you can't return a version 1 and receive a version 2 in its place. If you had an issue with a version 1 MP, they'd replace it with another version 1.

My guess is Joel from BBTS.com won't give you a MISB boxed version if you return a OPENED UP version 1.0 & want another version 1.0. Most likely due to fans over-returning this item,Joel from BBTS is most likely gonna do 2 options (1) Open up the box on purpose to examine the item personally & also deafeat the returner from returning a opened item & getting a MISB item for his return. (2)Depending on the severity of this issue,joel might be backed up with returns of MP-09 version 1.0 & Might take a so-called damaged item back & give the returner another so-called damaged item in it's place.

FWIW,Most import toy shops in Manhattan don't accept returns.

One shouldn't expect to get a v2 as replacement for v1 when v2 costs more.

I read somewhere that there's some indication near the barcode on the box denoting the manufacturing date, which would allow you to determine which version it is. I'm no expert on Takara releases though, so I unfortunately don't know more about it.
