I'm pretty new to collecting Transformers, I was only a little kid when Armada and stuff was airing. And I never paid attention to prices, but then again from Armada, I only had Hot Shot, Megatron, and Demolishor, which sadly disappeared. DX

But this year I've been buying some Transformers, but I really like the look of the old G1 stuff, it just seems awesome-looking, but I see it on eBay, and they're way too much, and I know the priciest Transformer I've bought it HA Leadfoot. What I want to know is how much the original figures costed back when they all came out? Like all of the sizes and stuff.

Somewhere around the Internet is a few pages from the JCPenny Christmas Catalogue from 1984, when they came out. IIRC the typical Autobot Car was about $10, and the typical Decepticon Jet was about $15.

Ooh, yeah, I found it. ^_^ Soundwave was only $18. O_O I want a G1 Soundwave, since he's my favorite character, but they're way too much now on eBay. >_<

Welcome to transformers collecting: Rare or Old figures are bound to be out of anybody's range if they are on a budget.

But I got G1 Scavenger 8 months ago (and recently, G1 Long Haul) on Amazon. $8.98 for each ($3.99 + $4.99 for shipping). It comes with only the figure. No Devastator Parts or Guns. Anyways...you can still find good deals out there

But they were always expensive. $18 in 1984 was a lot more than $18 will buy now days.

I specifically remember the Devastator giftset being $24.99... I remember, because I asked my mom and dad for it when I was a kid at the store and they said no. I looked at the price and said "Well, I guess that is kind of a lot. I'll wait and ask again around Christmas" lol

I remember the cool stuff like G1 Prime, Megs, even Metroplex. Once you could get them from my local Woolworth's for £10 in the sale. Problem was, I was like 8/9/10 at the time, so I'd always have to save my pocket money, and by the time I'd save enough they'd all gone :-(
