The only ones I keep mixed are my loose figs. I have my RID, Beast Wars, Classics, Universe, and a few movie figs bundled together filling up to large plastic bins. I usually get the impulse to play with my figs so I always have to come up with reasons and/or names for the many Prime figs I have in my collection.

Easy fellas!
Can we stay on topic?
I love these ideas. I'm envisioning a whole shelf of Nemes, and it sounds awesome!

Then Seekers, Dinos, Waves (both sound and shock) and War Within. All of my upper shelves are mixed but mostly by character. Alts aren't mixed b/c the Masterpieces are on their character shelves but I count them as conjoined lines.

Grim Squeker has inspired me to share!
My collection is in a constant state of movement outside of the real rare, or expensive pieces.
There is also a constant story playing out that's been going on since I started collecting again.
I'll spend endless hours setting these things up, I have strings and wires all over, however I realy love getting getting my figs to balance in crazy ways. Last weekend some bots went rampaging, thats why so many are tipped over at the moment.
Here's some pics, I have lots of shelves, but these are the easiest to shoot.
These displays are something that will never be done

I think since I sold y calssics, I have lost my ability to mix...but I'm getting Universe Sunstreaker and Sideswipe to go with the clasiics when I get them back. Quite a few of energon toys fit well with the classics. I currently have a storyline where Armada picks up where the Classics left off.

My Good (I.e. not broken, or complete) G1s go on my G1 display case, and the rest go into a toy box based on faction. Or, if they're big like Unicron, they go on my bookcase, or if they're a Citybot, ala Scorpy or Metroplex, they're on my floor with Silverbolt, Scattershot, Broadside and an "Enslaved" Motormaster connected, along with numerous others, and the Firecons guarding Scorponok.

I just got a second G1 Galvatron today, he's alittle beat up, so basicly he goes to war while the good one stayes boxed.
All the real good G1s or pricy figs, I try to get a double of for that reason.
However, the reason why I write this is to warn you against leaving figs on the floor. Milk crates are easy to steal and planks and boards are cheap!
I only mention this because stumbling and flooding have made me sad on several occasions! Nothing stayes on the floor anymore for a long perion of time now.

My house is raised slightly, it's like a way of preventing flooding, and I just need a big area to store my citybots.

I had a pipe burst

It ruined alot of stuff, after that, I moved to a second floor, but still...
I even have some planks suported by spare bricks and whatnot.
Another bonus to elevating is that bots are easier to reach.
Bending sucks, most of my bottom shelves are empty!
Also on the topic of mixing...

First off Congradulations on that most awesome collection!
Second, I wish I had the space like that to properly shoot mine. Outside of your BotCon guys and some of the repaints, I have alot of those figs. Still I'd love to see and compair the bots that would make the differences in our collections.
I realy like the shelf with all the Demolishers

To begin, wow. Nice collection.
Yeah, I mix the lines together. No real reason not to, and it looks better, imo.

I try to keep my seperated into their own lines, but there a few exceptions. I loved my Protoform Prime and the Cybertron Primal so much I stuck on the "Shelf of Honour" with my Classics (which also includes my MP Prime).
However, due to a slight lack of shelf space at the moment, some of the other lines had to be broken up, such as my Cybertrons.
Oh and Counterpunch, I am so envious of your collection...
And oh yeah, first post! Woot!

Mine is all mixed together (see pic). I keep them MISB mostly. I keep the G1 items altogether though. Don't tell me to release them from their twist-tie prisons. They all have life sentences.

Longs for the days of G1 where we only had to worry about Megatron, Soundwave and Laserbeak wanting to be Autobots, Swoop calling himself Tracks and Slingshot calling himself Slingslot!

Scale:
First of all, scale is an ongoing issue since the Diaclone and Microman toylines were repurposed as Transformers, and has never let up. (See the Transformers Wiki on: Scale).
That aside, fans probably have varying ways of accounting for it.
Mixing:
We (my kids and I) mix; toys aren't as much fun not used together. And we have a whole, big explanation for it all.
