I gotta give them credit. It's no doubt in my mind that nintendo screwed up making a home game console with downloadable games being a big feature, with no mass storage device. All this stuff, but only 512MB to save on. You could back it up to an SD card up to 2GB but you couldn't play anything nor save directly to it.
Well I hadn't had my wii on in a month, and My wife was going through getting rid of stuff, and Mario Party 8 was in there, and she wanted to sell that, so she ejected it, and the Wii reconnected internet. When I came home this morning, the Wii was all glowing blue. Apparently there was a system update in March that I was unaware of. The result? Now you can save and download things directly to the SD card and the firmware also added SDHC Compatibility, allowing the max size card to go from 2GB to 32GB!!
Now I guess you "technically" still can't play Virtual console or Wiiware games off the SD card but, you can select an option for the Wii to automatically copy the game to system memory temporarily so it can launch straight from the SD card!
I gotta give Nintendo props to this. They actually solved one major issue with the Wii. By the "geeks and otaku" comment by one of their reps I thought they were just going to blow everybody off, but they actually fixed it!
32GB would probably be more than enough for VC/Wiiware!
Kudos to Nintendo!

I still question the wisdom of using what is essentially a flash drive as the system's main memory. Can't be expenses (I could find an 8GB for about $16). Still, definitely a plus. Ever since this update came into effect, I've had a lot more room on my wii channels menu now that I can load games from the card instead.
Next up on Pimp My Jeager.

Well I gotta throw them props again! I just checked out gameplay videos of "punch out" and all I can say is HOLY ****!!! The game looks bad ass! Its so throwback to the original!
I really gotta pick that up. I also read it has full motion control and balance board support, in which is great because I do have Wii Fit! Also read you can skip all that, turn the Wii-mote on its side and just use classic NES controls for it.
This is the big Hit the Wii has needed for a loooooooooooooooong time!
