^ Very much a G1 Scorponok situation.
Although to be fair to the video game. It was pretty cool that Tidal Wave was a level that transformed into a boss fight.

I am super glad for Titan Tidal Wave. Sins of the Wreckers and the Armada Video Game are my 2 sources for the character, so the size was needed. I could care less about the combination, it was hardly something that was successful, and the OG toys can do it, so I would feel OK if this one goes for size more.
I'm looking for parts, Help Me Out Please!

Which is why I posted the CGI model, which was his first design. The toys were based on that, and it was curvy.-Kanrabat- wrote:Sabrblade wrote:

Looking at the original toys, Prime Cliffy is not that curvy.

To be fair, a Prime toy based on the CGI can only be non-transformable ones like a 3-Zero or R.E.D. If made officially.

Ever.

At least, 3P did recently for Airachnid.

Every Prime toy of a show character was based on their CGI model (pre-Season 3, that is). Those came first.-Kanrabat- wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Which is why I posted the CGI model, which was his first design. The toys were based on that, and it was curvy.-Kanrabat- wrote:Sabrblade wrote:

won't ever bother to do "MP style" Prime toys.
Ever.
Remember, this was back when Hasbro was trying to push themselves as a media company instead of just a toy company, and so made Prime with the intent of it standing on its own without the direct need to give it toys. The toys were made later, after the CGI models were all done.

So in a sense it was a retrace of the G1 Movie and Season 3, with arguably better results.

I don't think I'd put Prime and Animated on the same level. All of the Prime figures have been way off model, but only Prowl has been off for the Animated figures, both Optimus and Bumblebee look really good.

Animated Lockdown doesn't have a windshield chest, yes, but Cyberverse and RotF/IDW Lockdown do, and considering the listing just says "Lockdown" and not "Animated Lockdown", there's no guarantee that Animated Lockdown is actually the version of the character that we're getting.Overcracker wrote:Chase looks closer to Cliff than Lock.
It would require an extreme level of retooling to turn him into the tall and lanky Lockdown silhouette.
Lockdown doesn’t even have a roof/windshield chest. Its too far removed, and parts end up in the wrong places.
I just don’t see how they can make him Lockdown, without a massive re-engineering, at which point its likely easier to make him a new mold.
All that said, the toe lights and the claw accessory do kind of point in that direction.

I know everything I am saying here has been said already, but I need to say it too.
I can not believe how good this stream was! So many awesome reveals! I preordered everything but the 2 beast wars guys and laser prime.
The poster is beautiful. I can not believe the teases that it has.
I am not a fan of BW, but Magmatron is my favorite design and character from that era (I had a comic from around 2008 where he was the main villain). He may beat out Armada Prime as my favorite commander class.
And then Tidal Wave. Yes, so much yes. I was more hoping for a CC, but titan will do me just as well. I can not wait to buy the cartoon color, USA toy color, and maybe even the Energon color!
With how sad studio series is next year, I am glad to have Legacy to really look forward too!

Considering three of the five known Star Seekers (of the seven total) are new members for the team there's no telling if Lockdown will even resemble any of his previous incarnations to begin with. They could be universe hoppers like with Speedia, or they could all be the same universe like the G2 capsule. And even then are we talking Aligned or Wings or something new? Lots of unknowns.

Magmatron is better known since his toy was released in the west. And he happens to be made up of Dinosaurs. It's a safer bet. And while Lio Convoy was not released I the west, he is an Optimus type toy with a lion alt mode. If ever you are curious as to why Hasbro chooses something over another, just imagine presenting the toys to kids/parents to gage interest and you'll have your answer.

Plus, fiction-wise, Magmatron has simply been used more and done more as a result. Magmatron has not only his appearances in Beast Wars Neo but also in IDW's 2006 Beast Wars comics. Galvatron, by contrast, has really only been in Beast Wars Second, which he spent the first third of either passed out asleep from accidental overdoses or running amok while being drunk out of his wits. He didn't become an actual character with an active role in the story until two-thirds into the series.william-james88 wrote:AllNewSuperRobot wrote:I thought that about Animated Motormaster too.

Heck, Unicron disguised as Galvatron's likeness did way more in just five episodes of Neo than Galvatron himself did in the entirety of his own series.

I liked the original Tidal Wave toy very much, I had both the Armada and Energon versions. By the time I decided to get the Micron Legends version, "Shockwave," it became ridiculously expensive.
My favorite iteration is the video game version, which is probably why I was really hoping for a titan class figure. I just hope we get a variant in the game colors. He might even be the 1st SS titan if Hasbro puts him in the Gamer Edition subline.

Staring at more pictures of Tigerhawk, I just barely noticed that the tiger head is also asymmetrical. Noice
The feathers on the wings that used to flip up on the old toy also look to be articulated on this one. The ones towards the attachment points of the wings
I have a feeling those feather swords will be easier to lose than the feather missiles on the original though

It's the rivals thing though. That I keep coming back to and clearly HasTak doesn't give a damn about.
To use a MOTU example, this is like HasTak releasing He-Man ..and King Hiss. You get the one that is more visually interesting. But not the narrative antagonist. Much like how MP Soundwave and MP Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime have been without their respective rivals for years.
Plus, I know Dragon Galvatron was basically a non-entity in his own show (and the constant snarling thing really grates on me). A classic case, much like Car Robots Gigatron. Where the main villain is more powerful than his entire team. So he gets benched instead.
But they made a new TM2 Megatron. Which is both BW Megatron's worst design and the inferior Dragon design of the two of them. So there was precedent there for a Dragon Bot. It's not like the name "Galvatron" means less to the franchise than "Magmatron" either. Maybe it is because he is a Triple Changer? Since they've shown zero interest in updating the BW multiformers so far. He might have been deemed more effort than the relatively more straightforward combiner.
Much like the rivals to Metroplex and TR Fort Max. The fans of Big Convoy and Dragon Galvatron will likely be kept waiting for modern updates, for the foreseeable future.

The fact that We've been thrown curveballs since Siege and we got so many, SO MANY characters that we though we would never have, AND things we never thought to ask, makes me sure that I shouldn't never, ever, rule out any possibilities.
Metroplex - 2013
Fort Max - 2016
Trypticon - 2017
Scorponok - 2020
I didn't say never here. I said much like the wait between City Bot rivals (four years each pair). That the fans looking for the companion Big Convoy and Dragon Galvatron to their Magmatron and Lio Convoy. Have likely got a long wait ahead of them.
Appart Optimus VS Megs, these things take time. So, let's just pe patient.

Yup, indeed. Although I imagine those waiting for MP Blaster to rival MP-13 Soundwave have likely given up over the past ten years. Meanwhile, thinking about MP Galvatron just upsets me. So I don't anymore.

Also, Weird choice by HasTak to produce Lio Convoy then skip to Magmatron instead of Dragon Galvatron??
Magmatron is better known since his toy was released in the west. And he happens to be made up of Dinosaurs. It's a safer bet. And while Lio Convoy was not released I the west, he is an Optimus type toy with a lion alt mode. If ever you are curious as to why Hasbro chooses something over another, just imagine presenting the toys to kids/parents to gage interest and you'll have your answer.
Technically Lio Convoy and Galvatron weren't released in the West, but Hasbro did import a handful of them and sold them online when they were released in Japan. But nobody remembers that so it's a moot point to the discussion, I just like to bring up since it doesn't sound like it could possibly be true since shopping online was sketchy in 2000, but is.

It's weird that Hasbro will readily pull out designs of figures that have never been released before, but pass over fan favorite decos for no apparent reason.
Incidentally, Takara Tomy is pretty content with considering Encore Big Convoy (particularly the blue repaint) a Generations stand in and I'm alright with that.

To date, Nightprowler is the weirdest choice I've seen from HasTak in recent times.
