I love how crazy that cover was. Also the team are really only going for robot mode scale, or as close as they can get to their other limits. Vehicle mode scale will be a driver for a completely different line

I'm still using perfect effect jinrai as my main optimus even if he's a little small I don't mind megatron being a bit bigger - plus the ankle tilt is much more natural than on some of the siege onwards bots. Couldn't find the 35th optimus in stock after waiting to see how it looked and was still unhappy with its arm kibble and truck mode.
I still prefer tr megs over siege but I'll be picking up the Netflix version as tr megs is in jet mode leading the seekers and then eventually repaint a spare tr megs into action master tank colors.

Re: Transformers War for Cybertron: Siege Discussion Thread
If it's Optimii we're talking about my version of choice is still Henkei with Fansproject's trailer. I know Earthrise is better in basically every way. Heck, even Siege is better overall. But I still dig the overall look, even the arm kibble. And I like that I have all the variants of it that matter to me - white and Nemesis. The poseabilityis still decent by today's standards and I have a ton of 3rd party accessories that add a lot to the figure overall and give each version it's own thing.
But I think I would get a repainted Earthrise Optimus. Maybe it is mindless speculation on my part, but I can totally see a premium paintjob happening for that figure at some point in the future. A part of me wishes I didn't pick up Magnus since I think he might get a better paintjob too in the future. And that guy really needs one.

I don't see how Siege Magnus need "better paint." He have plenty of colors already, the "battle damage" is in the right places, and the wheel rims are painted. The "Spoiler" Netflix edition added unnecessary burn marks to him if you're into that.
Honestly, you won't regret buying the normal Siege Ultra Magnus. He's a fantastic toy and he look amazing in all of his modes. Plus there's the fact that if you hunt right, you may find one in deep "secret clearance" at Walmart or somewhere.

Re: Transformers War for Cybertron: Siege Discussion Thread
I have Siege Magnus. In Magnus mode he's just fine, but in white Prime and vehicle mode he's really suffering. I haaaaaaaaaaaaaate his clear grill and just a bit of white paint to separate out the windows on his chest (as the mold seems to have intended) would do wonders for the toy in my mind.
I guess I'm picky about my paint, but that flaw almost ruins two out of the three modes for me. I don't regret buying the figure. He's pretty good. But I can see them coming out with another movie anniversary pack containing the deco I think the figure really needs. And I might get it again then. Maybe.

It's true that the clear abs and unseparated windows are a bit weird. But that's what make it "Cybertronian" I guess?

Reprolabels did a decent job, but having a sticker cover up all the sculpted details isn't the solution for me.

Ah yes, that ridiculousness-Kanrabat- wrote:Deadput wrote:Optimus wasn't really that big of a guy, he's not that much taller then say Ironhide or Ratchet traditionally, he's a flat-nose truck he's not going to be a giant among Transformers.
THAT'S NOT TURE! HERE'S THE PROOF:
@Deadput I'm only seeing your post because Kanrabat quoted it, but I'll respond anyway. You're right that as a flat-nose truck G1 Optimus wouldn't be a giant among Transformers... but he should still be bigger compared to his fellows than the WFC versions are. In vehicle mode, the size difference is especially noticeable: WFC Optimus is closer to the G1 toy's 1:48 scale while the other Autobots are more in the ballpark of 1:32 scale. As far as robot mode goes... In the cartoon, Optimus is usually only a few heads taller than Ratchet and Ironhide (as per the official scale guide, which has them coming up to his abs), but Ratchet and Ironhide are themselves notably taller than the likes of Sideswipe and Prowl.

The most important scale is the ROBOT scale. That's how it goes for the Studio Series and the WFC Trilogy. So I can forgive the truck being a wee bit too small and the jets and trains and space shuttles being WAY too small. The robots (and price points) would be all over the place if the vehicle scale was prioritised.

Okay, but 1. The altmode scale concessions required by a cab-over semi to fit in with sports cars and such are minimal if not nonexistent next to those required by planes, trains, and spacecraft, and 2. Like I have said multiple times, WFC Optimus is too small for both the vehicle and the robot scale.-Kanrabat- wrote:The most important scale is the ROBOT scale. This is the official scale chart they're supposed to be more or less living up to.
Now, compare, Sideswipe and Hound relative to Optimus on that chart...

Scale wise, CW Optimus is perfect for sure. And the vehicle mode is nice enough. But the bot look wonky and the truck torso for the combiner is pretty bad.
But eh, "true" perfection is an impossibility for anything and everything.

Well, I don't mind CW Optimus' bot mode (it beats the pants off Wedgepecs McCabarms, the other CHUG Voyager 1984-esque Optimus at the time I got him) and I don't use the torso mode.-Kanrabat- wrote:ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:And I say CW Optimus is closer, while also fixing the vehicle mode scale issue. I really don't like the base CW Optimus his proportions are a bit too "Optimus Primal" for me, it certainly works better in the "Nova Prime" Battle Core which you can guess who I use it for.
It's just too different from a traditional Optimus to really "work" ideally which is probably due to the mold probably being designed as Motormaster first.
Siege/Earthrise Optimus are the perfect proportion style for me, I like Optimus as a slightly taller then middle height guy but with Autobots taller then him being more uncommon rather then rare.

I needed allergy meds with Sudafed so I hit up Walmart's pharmacy then I headed to the toy aisle and picked up these three. They also had Hound but I'm not sure if I want another Hound. Might end up getting him just for the Teletraan-1 piece down the road. I didn't want to be that guy who came in and grabbed all the figures.LinaNui wrote:Skritz wrote:Only Netflix figure I really want is Hotlink to add to the Seekers range.
I highly recommend the Megatron set,Mirage, and Scrapface. They all have great decos and the last two are basically new characters.

Every single figures that ever existed and ever will, will be flawed one way or another.
For Optimus, general consensus is that the Earthrise Leader is like a budget Masterpiece because he's so amazing. Even if the trailer is a bit barebone.
Proof is he's been sold out everywhere at full price and is impossible to order online without a markup. Also, I've yet to find a single negative video review.
If Siege Megs is a "good enough" toy, so is Siege Optimus. But ER Optimus is pretty much perfection for correcting the Siege's flaws and adding features.
For me, Siege Megs look perfect in bot mode but the tank is iffy. His main problem is that he's also not too fun to transform because too many things feel "not solid" in hand. Maybe Earthrise Megs will pull a ER Optimus and correct the flaws that the Siege one had and improve the overall feel?
I think ER Optimus benefits from a head swap with Siege and I'm thinking ER Megatron will be the same.
The question is WHICH Siege Megatron? The hand painted proto looks like a silver that matches Netflix and the CG renders look like the same gray as vanilla Siege.
The tank mode looks better and the crotch, chins, and abs are all more toon accurate. The tank barrel is a bit inelegant but I saw it somewhere wielded as a trident and it works better in that form.
The Earthrise Megs head is a very obvious G2 Megatron pretool. I expect that deco to be very popular and go well with people's TF vs. Joe collections, which will get a couple of boosts this year. There was supposed to be a TF vs Joe SDCC set and Scrapface is a Scrapiron tribute. Pair with Funpub's SerpentOR, BAT drones, and a few Combiner Wars Vipers for a Decepticobra minifaction.

I was reading on the new top 5 list about the netflix megs, it said that it fixed an issue with the ankles, I'm really interested in knowing just what this new production run fixes, as I'd easily get it if enough of the molds problems were ironed out; does the head plate stay in place, or does it still fall into the chest whenever it's touched? Is the plastic different, the siege one felt really cheap around the legs/ankles

The tolerances on the head were adjusted with the Walmart 35th Anniversary release. The Netflix one is said to have the ankles adjusted for easier posing.

I'd beg to differ on the walmart runs being fixed (not only was mine loose, but the figure was covered in leftover plastic from the factory molds), but that ankle fix does sound interesting

Regarding a perfect Optimus, to me, Siege Optimus is perfect. He is my main generations Prime, and will probably stand there for a while. He is so good, and I am just not a fan of the Earthrise one.
As for Megatron, I got the G2 one from the Siege mold, but that was it, don't really have a desire to get the netflix one no matter how shiny. TR will remain my main con Megatron, with different molds serving as the G2 voyagers.
Still no signs of Hotlink around here. I have the pre-order but it would be nice to cancel it.
Both the 35th Megatron and cell shaded one are warming around here hard. Same 12 have been at my local Walmart for the past 3 months.
