I usually don't sniff my figs that much but even Legends Whirl has a slight "scent" over the other figs.

I'm not actively sniffing him though. I'm just being in his general vicinity and his BO is infesting that vicinity! You can't help but NOT smell him.

Just set it on fire. Seriously. Enough is enough. You're poisoning the environment around you.

Re: Whirl stinks!
I can't remember what you have tried, but have you tried packing him in kitty litter for a few dsys/weeks? Maybe put him in a box with some natural charcoal? That stuff will usually pull the funk out of anything.
My Whirl was stinky but has since aired out. It was like a chemical, burning plastic, electrical fire kinda smell.
I think the root of the problem with mine are his accessories and what ever parts that were gang molded with then.
I had a photo of Whirl I took and I needed one of his guns. I was reminded of the smell as soon as I opened the box they were in. And that smell transfers to my hands.

My second one was the same way (yeah I had to get two, the first one literally lost his head, the kids got him)
Stinky out of the box, but he lives in my office in the attic and the windows are open. Thankfully (at least in regards to the smell) I haven't had to go up there that much this month. But a couple days ago I was still smelling him. Just much less powerful now, much less.

You know, because of this thread, I have passed on buying Whirl many a time. Still won't, and all three Target stores, and one Wally World, in my area still have him. No stinky toys for me.
Though I do wonder if the smell rivals dirty toddler diapers......

I'm worried what fumes may be unleashed once that plastic starts to burn.

Washed him repeatedly and also immersed him in coffee beans for a number of weeks. Might have to try to kitty litter.

You have to remember though mine is the Takara Tomy version. There's been a few others who have been in my situation and they've all had the TT version so the Hasbro one SHOULD be okay.

I just got my LG Whirl and out of the plastic packaging I did catch a distictive smell. Nothing that wreaked or a real PEW stench but it is something. The fact that this thread was posted on this very weird situation is hilarious enough!
Interestingly enough it wasn't Whirl that was wafting but the weapons.
Yes the weapons and after handling them I could smell it on my hands. To me the smell reminded me of my old man cutting/grinding lots of metal with his power cutters, it really does.
I think I will try the coffee grounds idea, after all it's a great smell and I'll see what happens.

Wanna swap weapons? Mine smell alright. If we swap then you can have a stinky Whirl with matching stinky weapons!

Kind of like a burnt electrical rubber insulation. That's the aroma I get from my legends version.

So, other than his personal hygiene, is the figure worth owning? Is he a good representation of the MTMTE character?

Worth owning? Sure, he's a neat figure and I've had fun with him. His head is very MTMTE and he has chicken legs, but over all not very acurate. But he does chill with my MTMTE crew.

How many of the MTMTE crew have their own figures? I'm getting into the comics and was planning on picking them up.carytheone wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:So, other than his personal hygiene, is the figure worth owning? Is he a good representation of the MTMTE character?

Depends on if you wanna cheat a bit. I'm not the right person to ask for a complete list, but I'll tell you what I am using via a pic when I get home.Rodimus Prime wrote:How many of the MTMTE crew have their own figures? So do you gotta bring it up to your nose to smell him or is it still strong enough not to?

You can smell him just by walking past him, or being down wind.

Whirl has really bad hygiene. Or Burn's nose is uber-sensitive, which is more likely, considering what a princess he is.william-james88 wrote:How is this thread 5 pages LONG?!
