1:25th Scale Movie Style Soundwave WIP

I know, I know.
I actually picked up another GTO model kit the other day. I may build one more Swindle for selling. Haven't made up my mind yet. Lots of other classic characters I'd like to get around to finishing.

First off: That is brilliant. Looking forward to seeing the finished one.
Secondly: I hope you don't mind, but I am using your Soundwave design for my TF2 story. I will link a credit to your Deviantpage at the end once it's finished and posted. If it's a problem, let me know and I'll change his alt mode.
Third: shockticus, that sig gif has me on the floor laughing insanly.

Question - could you share the basic Lego frame or is it a trade secret?

Honestly, I have no idea what exact Bionicle and Exo-force pieces I've used on this. Lots of modifying and mixing and matching.
The Exo-force parts are used for the arms, but I did a bit of modifying to make them semetrical. The Bionicle pieces used are from the last 2 series, but I don't know the exact sets. When I buy these Legos, I throw away the packaging and just dump all the parts in one box. Most of the sets I've bought usually have a larger number of gray or black parts if that helps at all. I try to steer clear of the brighter colored bits since the color on these figures usually comes from the shell of the vehicle.
Nothing extremely radical going on with the frame. Long bits for the legs, torso bits for the torso, etc. I cut the pieces up to get the proportions I want when need be. For Soundwave, I wanted him to be pretty tall, so I tried stretch the torso out a bit. On a character like G1 Bumblebee, I'd go for a shorter, stockier frame to keep him on the small side so cutting and shortening the lengths of some parts would be in order.
I suggest picking up a few Lego sets and just experimenting. That's pretty much what I'm doing.

Fair dues. I'm going to give it a go, I had a character in the Heavy Metal War game here a while ago who was a female tank, so this would be a nice way of finally breathing life into her.

I've started. Picked up a Bionicle on the cheap, and it'll do lovely without much work. Bit of rearranging the standard construction gave me a nice feminine shape, just a case of finding a toy or model tank the right size to use. I'm probably going to giver her sponson-boobs.

How 'bout that. I'm gone for a few weeks and blam-o, first thing I see is this sweet project. I love the design and I can't wait to see the progress on this guy.

Thanks. I got a good bit of painting done this weekend. Hope to have the Stage 2 parts completely painted and reassembled this week.
Then I have a little more cutting, sanding and cleaning up to do on the shell and I should be ready to paint and assemble the final stage. I have to finish the head too, which I'm really looking forward to. Probably gonna save it for last.

OK. Here's a few pics of my progress on my movie style Soundwave. Lots of painting completed. Remember, although I'm using a Humvee, I'm trying to stick pretty close to the Balkan MK 6 color scheme. The undercarage parts are all black. The interior parts are all flat gull gray. The shell is intermediate grey (military blue/grey).

I still have a lot of work to do. Once the shell is in place, I need to finish the weapons and the head. Lots of planning and fabricating left to do for the head. I actually did a test the other day on the head which did not work for Soundwave. But on the bright side, the head I started makes a pretty cool looking Grimlock, so I may still finish it.
Anyway, thanks for taking a look. I value your thoughts on what I have completed so far. Thanks!
