Illinois Transformers Sightings
Re: Illinois Transformers sightings
Sightings in Rockford.
TRU on E.state has another 2 for 14.99 sale going on through Saturday, and I spotted a couple Cliffjumpers, Thunder Wings and Skullgrins up there. Along with a few of the new movie line stuff if you're looking for it.
Walgreens down on Charles St and 20th have two Turbo Tracks.

Does that deal include those figs? I think there are two assortment numbers in the ad, which if you search for them on the TRU site, seem to indicate the current wave of HFTD and Gens (Sidearm Sideswipe, Tuner Skids, Cyb Optimus, etc.). FWIW.

Definitely went to TrU on State after reading this article, and got there around 8:45, and the shelves were literally cleared of the deluxe classes for both movie AND Generations, besides Darkmount and Skullgrin.
Doesn't matter though, because, before we even went, my gf surprised me with...

BAM! Gf ftw
Once I get Blurr, I'm pretty much done with generations outside of Kup, Heinkei Megs, and Repainted Classics Bumblebee.

You better marry that gal! Not many women will actively support their man's TF hobby. Mine just sorta grudgingly accepts it.

Re: Illinois Transformers sightings
Honestly yea... I was impressed. From the promo pics, it seemed like the actual toy was a bright white, while the promo pics had that greenish tone, so I was looking to be dissapointed, but the color tone's actually a lot closer than it appears. I like the fact that he looks "different" than the other TFs from this line as well. His head mold and face are nothing short of kickass.
There are two drawbacks though:
1.) his shoulder spikes keep his arms from raising more than about 45 to 60 degrees up, because the wings stop his range of motion.
2.) His feet, in robot mode, don't sit flat: with the wings and plan nose all being bunched up on his back like a huge backpack (which looks **** awesome), his feet not being flat makes him unstable.
EDIT: I just went to my display case and checked him out again... when you tilt his arms up farther, his spike go down more, making number 2 null in void!
It just sucks, because, it's a really unique, and "sinister" looking figure, so OBO, you just want to put him in some really sneaky and wretched poses, but, the instability of his footing really keeps you from doing much with him. This takes him from a 4/5 to about a 3.5/5.
... so far the only one that's a 5/5 for me is cliffjumper: it could literally be named "Perfect Cliffjumper" if there was somewhere to put his blaster in alt. mode.

You should be able to stick his gun in a slot at the back of his vehicle mode on the underside. It's shown here in this photo: http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/ ... 2077/1/49/

PERFECT CLIFFJUMPER!!!!
And, before I come off like a fool, if anyone didn't know, that is no where in the instructions at all that you can store weapons on vehicle mode.

First my sightings, then my most excellent haul, if I may,
TRU on 75th St, Darien I think, had a few Thunderwings, Skulgrins, and a single WFC Cliffjumper, buy two at $14.99. But KMart on Plainfield and 83 had the mother lode: a handful each of Jazz and Tracks! The last day of buy 2, get 1 free.
Now, mine haul: Thunderwing and Cliffjumper at TRU, and Jazz, Tracks, and Mindset at KM. What a great bunch of toys! I can't wait for Reprolabels' Jazz set, like the one for Tracks they just announced. I wish Jazz's chest locked in place in robot mode, I'll have to work on that. I'll also be modding CJ like I did Bumblebee, to make him shorter in relation to WFC Optimus Prime.
TRU also had the Legends buy 1 get 2 free deal, so I bought 3 Legends to donate to Toys for Tots. And they had the Shanghai Attack Robot heroes set for $9.99, so I bought one. I think I'll donate it too, but I really wanted it. It'll come around again, right?

Also, what do you guys think of the pics of the G2 Prime from the Generations line? It's getting a lot of buzz, but I'm just NOT feeling it! I feel like even the look of my G2 Scourge just kills it.

Found them all ditched behind stuff, but I got all 3 of them in one hit and they had no more left and the Transformer section was hit pretty hard in general

Yeah, I don't really like the looks of it right now. The colors on it are just a bit too random. I'm planning on skipping this one in the hopes of them making a Scourge redeco.

Yea, it seems liek one of tose things that just "makes sense" in terms of a redeco, but, hoenstly, seeing that this line is bringing out a repaint of classics bumblebee with no repaint of classics cliffjumper, then honestly, I don't even know.

Maybe it's a case of them having a ton of new toys already that they don't feel the need for a Cliffjumper repaint when it's already been done. They always seem more interested in making new versions of Bumblebee, either with a slight retool or just a simple redeco, but Cliffjumper only gets one paint version per mold. You can especially see that with all the different versions of movie Bumblebee they've made, yet they've only done a Cliffjumper repaint once.
I don't even understand why they're doing a repaint of the Classics mold Bumblebee. Maybe they don't like to leave the shelves Bumblebee-less for too long.

Couldn't remember where I saw it, but here it is:
http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/tutorials-how-tos/310976-wfc-bumblebee-leg-mod.html
As with all mods like this, go slowly and carefully, use a sharp blade, and test fit often. It's a graet mod, it really brings Bee into scale w/ Prime. Plus there's a simple leg mod for WFC Prime to make him taller. I'll try to find it if you need it.

That doesn't look like a hard mod, but, it's not one I wanna' do... oddly, even in those pictures, I like the taller bumblebee better.

Yea... I know that bumblebee's got more of a following, but, personally, i feel that cliffjumpe rshould be like an automatic if there's a bumblebee mold in a series. It's a no brainer.

I'm pretty sure, the more I look at this figure, that it was intended to be an update to RID Scourge. I was excited about this figure at first, but the more and more pics I see of it, the more boring/lackluster it looks to me. Kind of blah ... but I know the inevitable Scourge repaint (and possibly Ultra Magnus) will kick ass.
Hm. This might just give me an excuse to do the e-Hobby Ultra Magnus and G2 reissue galleries at some point. Funny how things work out like that in the long run for yours truly.
Speaking of galleries, I'm uploading the photos for Fansproject Protector and Sidearm right now. Should be up on the site's homepage in about thirty minutes.

I think it'll make a decent scourge... I don't think it'll beat G2, bc honestly, the G2's mold of scourge is wicked and timeless... but, the G2 optimus gen. ver. is so ugly, that I think repaints have no choice but to be better :-\
Also, collection update for myself. Gf got me this yesterday as an Xmas gift:
http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200 ... MEWNX%3AIT
And the guy lives like 15 minutes away, so it'll be here tuuuuuuuueeeeeesday!
Also, having Cybertron Galvatron shipped today too. So, this'll be a good week.
On Friday, ordering the Hybrid Style G1 convoy, and I'm pretty stoked for that.
Still looking for Generations Blurr though... can't seem to find him anywhere.

Nice, thorough gallery, Seib. I especially like how many photos you took of the different versions of Rodimus in the armor. The Universe version (Battle at Cybertron) surprisingly doesn't look as clashing with the colors as I expected. What's your opinion of how it looks in person?

I use all my mad collector skillz when I be a hunting.
SKullgrin was down the aisle and behind some boxes and CJ and TW were hung at the back of other TF stuff on the hooks. Oh well, got my find on on those three

I take it that you have never been to the actual Toynk store in Bensenville? It's a good buy, but you could have gotten it cheaper in the store itself. They're a great bunch of guys. I've been going out there since the first Predaking re-issue so many years ago.
