Geez, I found Sunstreaker so bad in hand that I passed and feel no remorse.

The yellow stripes are something Reprolabels can fix. The mismatching reds ... I dunno why they can't match reds. It's still better than ER, though.

And a Thomas one, if I recall.

Personally, I find the blue unpainted tab "lights" on the roof more annoying than the side hinges.

Pretty sure they're just the tabs used to fold the panels together. If they're only for the future lightbar then they should be painted over.

Some say it is and some say it isn't finished, we're going to have to wait for more examples to know for sure. Hopefully it's another case like ER OP who went through a bunch of different revisions in pretty short time before release.

Studio Series should be the high quality version line of figures for collectors, but the more it goes on, the more it reveals a delusion and Ironhide does not exceptions.

In the alt mode, those huge hinges on the sides of the van are ugly and - as many others have said - lack of yellow stripes is another issue.

I don't think these figurese are worthy their price.

It's pretty much just a sister line to whatever the Generations maineline except it focuses on Movie characters, end of the day, hasbro still expect kids to get these as well. The only true high quality collector lines are Masterpiece and Movie Masterpiece. Oh, and HasLab.

No. It's sold at retail in the kids toy aisle. It's just a retail toyline like anything else and the bulk of sales will come from kids/parents. Anyone expecting more will be disappointed.

Just adding that the only lines that apply to collectors specifically are the Masterpiece lines and the convention exclusives when they were still a thing.

Hell, even the HASLAB toys are for "kids only" according to Hasbro Pulse!

Exactly. The MP line is the collector focused series. Hence the superior design and engineering (most of the time).

More images of Transformers Studio Series 86 Ironhide were posted on the Cybertron 21 Facebook page.
These give us our best look yet at the figure, especially in robot mode. We also get a sense of his height which does fit the G1 size charts. But remember, he will be sold as voyager class. The alt mode is quite beefy though, compared to deluxes and Hasbro already confirmed that the voyager class is also intended for smaller toys which have more parts. Also, there have bee comments regarding the mismatched paint but it's impossible to tell if the paint is mismatched or not since painted surfaced reflect light differently than non painted surfaces making the contrast far greater when seen in a picture than in hand. So it's too early for any comment of the sort. While there is no listing for a ratchet in this size yet, it is bound to happen, and we know that this Ironhide will not be an exclusive.

Finally got my SS 86 Sludge last night. Just a great fig with a surprisingly complicated transformation. His hip joints are loose though....that's the only complaint.

This figure is looking better and better…
The windshield (& windows) appear to be a slightly darker transparent blue color, giving them a “tinted” effect that I appreciate. As someone else said, there’s no reason to be able to see into an “interior” of nothing but bot bits.
So now the couple can mode issues really don’t matter to me.

I can now say I’m excited for this figure!!

The body is definitely better, but I like the head of the ER two-pack better. Thank goodness for balljoints.

Seeing the back, it looks like the engineering is quite similar to Siege / ER, even while all the parts look quite different.

Re: quality, I think it's important to remember that SS86 in particular prioritizes bot mode over alt mode. Obvious hinges and other unsightly alt mode features are par for the course. Even so, it's still much more my speed than ER, so I think it counts as an upgrade even at a higher price point.

I REALLY like how Ironhide looks. Even for his smaller size, he seems chonky, and the decision to make the van roof as part of his legs and feet are something that should have been done with Earthrise, which will certainly help mitigate the price factor a little. I have no intention of actually getting him, since I did a custom Ironhide out of the Deeseus Drone, but I got gypped on Siege Rachet, so I'll definitely pick up the inevitable retool.

With these new pictures it's clear that the designers went the Kingdom Tigatron route. Take the original deluxe, increase the size a bit, and fix what was "broken".

So that's incoming updates for Ratchet, Crosshairs, DK-2 Guard and Deseeus Army Drone. The latter three in Selects, I imagine?

Although I do like to.see a comparison with Sure/ER Ironhide. I don't think it's any bigger per day. More detailed, more mass because of a greater parts count, but it still looks like a deluxe taken to the max to try to justify the voyager price. I'm not saying it's bad, just an observation.

I don't think it will be taller either. Siege Ironhide reaches WFC Prime about the same
