Transformers Collectors' Club Figure Subscription Service announced - 6 figures revealed
Re: Transformers Collectors' Club Figure Subscription Service announced - 6 figures revealed
anyone else think its low that Hasbro have basically stolen kotoys idea of making breakdown in the G1 colors?
i mean them saying NO you cant make a ko of this....but then hasbro themselves do it but make it so you have to pay a small fortune
i also find it mega insulting they finally give us scourge but that we got to pay ALOT for it! thank christ theres a ko of the mould on the way. hopefully we can get a ko version of scourge if were lucky
also isnt it alittle pointless as the ko version is going to be released in about 2 months? making this offical version kinda usless? well unless you like spending a fortune on a toy thats gona sit on a shelf and not really do anything

1 - It's The Club, not Hasbro
2 - This way I'm guarenteed something that will be closer to the high quality I expect
3 - I'm willing to wait for quality
4 - Calling someone thieves for stealing from a KO group - LOL

Why does FunPub believe they can handle a toy subscription if they can't even handle pre-orders for two figures?
Also why do they believe that we'll jump on this after how incompetent they proved to be with the last two exclusives?

They have a couple poins in their favour on this.
1) Since now they are making the figure count to match the number of orders instead of a set number they hope will be enough, The Club has hopefuly eliminated the Day 1 Order Rush
2) For the most part, shiping of the figures and the freebie went ok this year. There were a few problems, but that is always going to happen
3) Hopefully without the Day 1 Order Rush, their website won't crash.
Calling them incompotent isn't really fair. Handling and shipping of the figures this year was done fairly well and quite timely. They realized that their previous ordering model wad no longer working (finally) and they changed it.
Now if something screws up in the new process, them I'll be right beside you calling them names. The process sounds good on paper, but I'm not going to call them anything good or bad until results are seen

The magazines have been rolling out nicely. So HOPEFULLY The toys would too. I have no idea what the crap happened with the runabout issue. Was away on school camp when that happened. Now I'm actually glad I did NOT manage to get Runabout.

Do they listen to the podcast much. This is exactly what the podcast crew said a few podcasts ago. Hopefully they take a cue from the gi joe club. Hopefully, this will work out. The figures look nice too

the ko g1 colored breakdown is being done by chms....in alot of ways chms quality is better than hasbros on some figures....you want quality but your wanting to pay 100+ for a toy? you can get the ko for around 30-40 and the quality will pretty much be identical....
Also dont say - its the club - because really they cant do jack without hasbros say-so
guess old saying is true

This is one of the most unintentionally hilarious posts I've ever seen.
Hasbro "stole" the idea of using a mold produced by Hasbro for a character owned by Hasbro? That's absolutely ridiculous. I don't doubt for a second that when that new headsculpt was made for G2 Breakdown they were planning to put out a G1 version sooner or later. Headsculpts are expensive.
Hasbro telling a company that they can't illegally copy a toy they made using a character they own? HOW DARE THEY?!?
Yeah, a lot of people wanted Scourge to be a regular retail release but it's not unreasonable that it's a club exclusive. After all, how many kids today watched RiD? That figure would be aimed solely at collectors. At least they're making it to begin with.
Why make an official version when a KO is coming out? Why do Coca Cola continue to make Coke when people can buy cheaper off-brand cola at Safeway? How do Rolex stay in business when you can go to any good street market and buy a Rolef for 1% of the money? Because people are willing to pay for quality, willing to pay to get the real deal, willing to pay to support a company whose products they enjoy. If Scourge does wind up being available to buy separately as well as part of the subscription I am sure it will sell out even if a KO version is available.

Please enlighten me on which aspects of CHMS are on better than Hasbro. Keep in mind that I have many of their Seekers and Rodimuses when you do.
Haven't paid 100 bucks for a club toy yet. I don't expect to now.

Currently Chimungmung is listing G2 Breakdown at $40.00 before shipping. In all honesty I can see the club charging around that price for theirs. The backlash in this case would be horrific.
And while yes I like some of CHMS' work, I would rather have the original molds if it meant just a few dollars more at least a tad more QC.

You'll never get an answer, I'm still waiting for him to answer my question of which toy it was Hasbro asked 300 dollars for at retail.

Although I do not own those KO's, I do feel the need to mention the TFC Sideburn I got last year felt comparable to something you'd find at a Big Lots!, the only thing it was missing was the funny smell. I hope the Club will be able to make these figures with quality better than a KO, but it wouldn't surprise me if they don't.
I really don't think the Club will be able to pull this off. I really don't like how to get the nicer figures like Scourge, for sure, you have get saddled with crap like Ultra Mammoth (something they couldn't get rid of on clearance were this normal).

Has anyone clarified what continuities all of these figures hail from? Are they all Classics, or is it a mish-mash?
Breakdown looks to be a new rendition of the Classics figure, and Scourge is nearly spot-on for his RID namesake. Is Jackpot based the obscure G1 character, or merely a homage in the Animated universe? Likewise, is Circuit a G1 character, or a movie denizen? Slipstream APPEARS to be from the Aligned universe, but she could be introduced as a G1 seeker as well. And Ultra Mammoth is all kinds of confusing. I'm just gonna imagine that he fits into the Beast Era.

I don't think these figures will have much in the way of supporting lore, so you can put them wherever you want. Personally I'm going to do the following:
Breakdown, Circuit and Scourge are going into classics
Ultra Mammoth is going on my BW shelves
Jackpot and Slipstream will be going up for sale as I don't collecr Animated or Prime

Agred. As someone who has both a Side Burn and a KO Rodimus, you can certainly tell the difference in plastic quality and construction.

If everyone who subscribes gets all 6 figures, I expect everyone to sell off at least half of them. Mark my words. Me, I think they all look good, and somehow I'm fascinated by Ultra Mammoth. Poor Big Convoy, having to share same fate as Optimus Prime when it comes to repaints...

I wanted it to be a retail release because I'm cheap.

They will all be mine. Oh yes, they will all be mine.
Seriously, when the one I want the least is the repaint of Ani Jazz into one of the few Actionmasters I had as a kid, I'm in!
RiD Scourge, Ultra Mammoth, Slipstream, Circuit. F*cking Circuit, man! This will be awesome as long as they actually have enough and don't go for the low item numbers bullsh!t that Matty Collector does. I hope it's made to order so everyone who wants one gets one and everyone who whats five gets five! Let the scalpers twist for once!
