According to AVS and similar forums this movie is actually region free. I figured I would import it, since I was never happy with the 20th anniv. DVD. Is it me or does Hot Rod look pink in that one? I just would like to know from anyone who owns it, how does it compare with the 20th anniv. DVD? TIA
Has anyone seen the Transformers Movie (1986) on Blu Ray?

No.
Why, is there something special about it?

I dont own it, but if its Blu Ray, then that means it's Hi-Def. I'd love to see the old TF in HiDef, but not bad enough to import it.
I have heard that Hot Rod looks pink in the 20th anniversary release. Actually, Ryan (Seibertron) showed me a side-by-side comparison image on his laptop at BotCon, and it did look pretty pink.

Actually shows up cheaper in checkout on amazon UK. Air Mail is only a couple of bucks- the most you will pay is around $30- a little more than a US Blu Ray.
Whiner-tron, have you watched the 20th anniv. DVD on a Large LCD TV- it looks bad. It is very grainy and in some spots has bad blocking. Even upconverted it looks bad.

No, I have the disk from around five years ago; I have always loved transformers, but up till then I had only seen a few of the CGI "upgraded" G1 re-runs.
It's what recindled my intrest in G1.
I don't know if it's better quality or that the last time I saw it was about two years ago, but I recall it being fairly good quality.

Do you mean the Rhino one or the Metrodome one? Living in the US I tend to opt for UK TF dvds- the metrodome ones seem better, especially their last release...the ultimate edition. I opted for the UK G1 DVD series complete, because it is cheaper and has less errors on it than rhinos overpriced out of print G1 DVDs. I heard that they were thinking about re-releasing G1 dvds in the US.... too bad those will always be in the 4:3 full frame format. As for the DVD version upconverted- macroblocking is quite evident in the intro scene where Unicron is eating a planet. There is just too much motion for that type of compression.
