opinions about Optimal Optimus

I have this figure on the way since I just got into BW season 3. What are your opinions?
Are there any BW metals figures that you'd highly recommend? I'm limiting myself to t.v. show only figures.

Optimal Optimus is a damn nice figure. During the BW days, it was as close to a G1 figure as we'd seen in a very long time.
If you're looking for suggestions, his counterpart, TM2 Megatron, is my personal favorite BW figure.

personally i think robot mode lets down TM2 megatron but its dragon mode is spectacular.
If its the show your into then the transmetals - TM Megatron, tarantulas, cheetor and rattap are amazing figures - sho accurate extremly poseable and look great to display.
If you deceide to checkout non show figures check out TM waspinator and TM2 scarem, torca would also be a grea figure if he was a bit bigger

plane i would say is debatable i love the ape mode tho. I dont actually have optimal optimus ho i do have primal prime, stragely enough when got it i was disappointed about the launchers under his head in robot mode being ever present when im sure on the show they retracted.

I have a slightly beaten up loose partless version. Cant say I was much impressed. Those shoulder guns in robot mode impress me not for a start.

I don;t own one, but I saw the ads and the pics online. He seems like a decent toy with decent looking alt modes and articulation.

I like him. He's a good, fun toy. He's one of those toys that's just fun to play with, like Powermaster Prime.

PM Prime is underrated. Back as a child, the multiple modes and neat little bonuses (the cannons that becomes hover cruisers, etc.) made him really fun and varied. I enjoyed him as much as Metroplex, Scorponok, etc.
Anyway, off-topic.

He was my first ever Prime, EVER.
I only got him a few years ago (the reissue version with God/Apex Bomber) and he is easily one of my fav primes. Heck he is one of my fav tfs period.

He's ok. He's bulky, bright, and pretty accurate.
The problem, is that his alt modes suck hard. I never displayed him in any other mode than 'bot. Also, the screw holding his battery door down strips really easily. It's something to watch for if buying a used one.

Megatron. TM 1, fo' shizzle. NO collection is complete without him. Other than that, not really. The rest aren't must haves for one reason or another. Well...maybe Rattrap. Yea, he's good.

He was my only Prime as a child. Even now, I've only got three (the others are Classics and Armada with Overrun, whom my parents brought me back as a surprise from TRU Times Square in 2002-ish).

Mmm, Optimal Optimus. He was the pinnacle of my collection when I was a kid. I loved his wingspan in flight mode.
Of course, if you're looking to buy more figures, I'd say go for Silverbolt, Depth Charge, and Transmetal One Megatron. He's my favorite of all the Beast Era Megatron incarnations. Also, get a hold of a Dinobot. There's plenty to choose from right now.

Am I the only one that thinks Optimal Optimus is a poorly made figure? I've got one sitting in my mom's basement at home, and I didn't even bother making it part of my collection because it's so ugly. His alt modes don't look like anything at all and bot mode is so terrible because of TM coloring. Go with Air Attack Optimmus. Much better looking and still humongus!

I wasnt really into any beast related series or toys but this one really caught my eye. I was lucky enough to acquire both OO and PP at a very decent price. If you also look for other beast TF, I suggest both versions of Cryotek.

I currently have TM Rattrap (reissue), TM Cheetor, TM Airazor, TM Megatron, with Optimal Optimus, Depth Charge, Rampage, and x-9 Ravage on the way.
Looks like Dragon Megatron will be my next one, although I haven't gotten to him in the show yet (still working on the season 3 DVDs).
That leaves TM Tarantulas, TM Black Arachnia, TM Primal, TM Dinobot 2, and I think TM Black Arachnia. Are there any more characters coming up in the show that have figures to go long with them?

My Optimal Optimus broke. One of it's guns on its back snapped during intense fighting in my childhood, and so I got another one down the road, but he is pretty much in pieces and I think he is broken too.
I wasn't a fan of it because of it being so complicated back then and I just stuck to TM Optimas instead. Gorrila on an Airboard = Win.

Well, you wrote TM BA twice for some reason, when she's neither (TM2). Otherwise, I think the only remaining character is Tigerhawk. I assume you intentionally skipped the Fuzors and first-season non-TM characters, like Waspinator and Rhinox.

Primal Prime (optimal optimus repaint) is even sweeter looking. I owned him, and I'm gonna get him again.

My mistake on the TM Black Arachnia. You mean she does not change in season 3? I'm only part way through, but it looked like the storyline was heading that way at the end of the episode feral scream part 2.
Yes, I skipped the season one characters because I have all of those. I am curious about the TM figures because it looks like a lot of non-show figures were released and I have limited myself to characters in the show.

TM Rattrap isn't so nearly accurate. His back needed to be able to turn 180 degrees for him to resemble his show counterpart better. Otherwise he is a nice figure.
Optimal Optimus is a nice figure but I much much much prefer Primal Prime. I am a bit biased though G1 Prime (show design) has always been what I base other Primes against. Both are nice. If BW is more your thing than G1 then by all means go for OpOp. Either way you can't lose.

I love my OpOp, but I keep him mainly in 'bot mode. He's huge, looks good, and has some decent gimmicks. Alt forms other than the Gorilla, leave a bit to be desired, but I appreciated what they were going for.
Also, TM Tarantulas is my favorite BW Deluxe, near perfect in every way. Other recommendations: TM Rattrap, TM and TM2 Megatrons(Yeeesssss), Rampage and Tigerhawk(both ridiculously sweet figures in their own right, TH especially).
The rest are sort of run-of-the-mill, but TM/TM2 Cheetor and TM2 Dinobot are worth owning for their show presence.

I couldn't get my OpOp's head to lock into place, which bites, because it's a great figure otherwise.
