GI Joe Fans Unite-- 25th Anniversary Fig Talk and More!
Re: GI Joe Fans Unite-- 25th Anniversary Fig Talk and More!
1. Top three G.I. Joe and Cobra figures (25th anniversary to now).
2. Top three G.I. Joe and Cobra vehicles (82 to 2008 so long as they are G.I. Joe
vs cobra).
3. Top three G.i Joe and Cobra playsets (82 to 2008 so long as they are G.I. Joe
vs cobra).

Just picked up the Armadillo Tank/Serpentor's Chariot and was waaay disappointed. On the whole, the set is fail.
The vehicles seem like they're made out of cheap plastic, flimsy and light. The Armadillo has two clip-on acessories that attach to its sides, a rail and an equipment pack. Both refuse to clip on firmly. Serpentor's chariot's guns are stationary, and the Cobra mouth, despite being mounted on a swivel refuses to turn from side to side.
Not just these flaws though, some of the stickers come pre-applied and whoever did it did a poopy ass job of it. Every pair of stickers is assymetrical and some are downright crooked.
The saving grace of the whole crappy affair is the Steeler fig. For a vehicle driver, he comes with some great accessories - a removable helmet, webgear, a knife which goes into a sheath in his leg and a pistol which goes into a shin holster. Quite the cool package, and I like Steeler the cartoon character. C'mon - the lucky bastard stumbled bass ackward into an alternate dimension where he ends up happily ever after with a lovestruck nympho 'good' Baroness and her personal scantily clad hot blonde Cobra aide. No kidding.
Now, very contrary to public opinion I *like* Serpentor the character, he's the reason I got the two-pack in the first place. But this fig is a disgrace to the character. A tiny too-tight helmet, hands with fingers crooked so they can't even hold the damned controls of the chariot, molded snakes which are again too small, NO ACCESSORIES besides the crap helmet... I'm strongly resisting the urge to scream "INSOLENT MICROBE" at the stupid thing and backhand it into a hungry carno-tree.
What a let-dwon. I really wanted to stockpile and army-build these seemingly nifty and cheap vehicle packs, but if they're all like this I may skip.

From the looks of it most of these smaller ones are. The HISS was good though. That episode of the toon is the one I remember the most. Who were the other Joes that got written out?

The reason this version of Serpentor is that way is because he is just the single pack figure minus the sword, stunner thing and cape. There supposed to fix the problem with the arise Serpentor arise Serpentor dvd entertainment pack version. I don't know if they did I will be getting mine sometime in the next couple of days.

From most reports I've read they did and they didn't. The figure is better but not the best it can be.

Well that sucks big time the one that comes with dvd entertainment pack is just the single pack figure but with his snake staff and what yojoe.com calls a dagger but I think of it as stun gun style device.

Clutch and Breaker I think. Basically the drivers that came packaged with vehicles.

FOund teh Resolute wave at retail.
I bought 2x Firefly, 2x Blowtorch (Man his mask and helmet suck), 2x C Trooper RESOLUTE, 1 x Duke Res, 1 x CCommander Res, 1 x Dreadnock Torch, and at TRU I had to buy another Paratrooper.
I took a paratrooper pack and put it on the new Firefly. He's leading 'em and with his blue color, it works...
Also grabbed another claw/fang two pack.

The tubes or whatever connecting Wraith's gun to his upper arms ended up breaking when I was bending his arm and I'm wondering is there a way to repair them or am I stuck with them broken?
EDIT: Over at Hisstank.com there is are threads saying KB Toys has cut the prices on they're G.I. Joes, along with other stuff, due to liquidation. $6.89 I believe for single cards, and $13.99 for vehicles.
Star Wars comic packs are down to $10 as well.

The guy I work for got in a couple of cases of 2009 wave 01 vehicle packs, come 4 in a case, one each of Water Mocasin (they changed the name to something dumb, I forgot what it was) Sky hawk, Shark tooth (another bad name change) and Firebat.
Looked a lot like the vintage ones, although Copperhead looks awesome. He has a Python Patrol tattoo on his right bicept, it's a nice touch.
Good things to come for 09!

Re: GI Joe Fans Unite-- 25th Anniversary Fig Talk and More!
I got some Wave 11 figures today. Trakker, Scarlett, Airborne, and Cobra Disguise Flint.
Matt Tracker looks weird, especially alongside the rest of my Joes. I think he would have been better off in a comic two-pack then on single card that way they could flesh out the story to make him fit in there better.
I haven't gotten around to opening Airborne yet so there isn't much I can say on him. He looks cool though. Hasbro needs to give us a helicopter for Wild Bill and Scarlett to pilot while Airborne jumps out of it into combat.
I have the Cobra Flint set up with my Cobra Forces as a brainwashed Flint. I want to get
at least one more for a brainwashed Duke.
Can anyone tell me the name of the figure Scarlett is based on? I knew it once but forgot. Like Ninja-Ku Storm Shadow I'm just going to have her be the international character they are based on instead of the one they say they are.

Yahoo, was able to snag a Wave 11 case today. Well, with a bit of a twist. They had to frankenstein it from what was around and were short the Bazooka Trooper (of all things). I picked a Ninja Viper to replace it. Besides the lime jello vest, I think it's a winfig. Need one more to complete Storm Shadow's posse.

A good day for Joes. Was able to snag a retail Roadblock (wifebeater version), AWE Striker (pretty rare) and B.A.T. (REALLY frigging rare)
I feel weird about owning a Leatherneck and not a Wet-Suit.

Thanks for the name of her international version. I wish they had just gone ahead and named her that and gave her blonde hair. It would have given us another female figure before the movie. Hopefully we'll see a few more besides Cover Girl.

Uhh did I miss something in the comics? This sounds like a story that should be brought to life by the guy who owns ages 25 and up. After he does a story on Clutchs' and Barbecues' big night out.

Nah, wasn't in the comics. It was in Season 2 of the animated series. They were the Felix and Oscar of the Joe team.
Goddammit Hasbro. I can understand the presence of twist ties and plastic inlays to prevent shoplifting. But you went too far with the AWE Striker packaging. The packaging actually damaged my toy. Leatherneck's forearms were nearly sawed through by the clear bands holding them in position. I tried to plug them back in but the separation is clearly noticeable now. The Striker's antennae were supposed to point straight up but are now permanently curved, with stress marks/damage at their base. The steering is broken, as the wheels don't turn in the direction I turn the steering wheel. The black tube connecting the passenger side gun to the roof also has stress damage and is twisted.
What a waste. Despite all the damage, it really is an awesome figure and driver.

It probably has to do with the fact that Hasbro are selling the vehicles for far less than they wanted to. Plus they realize that people will troop build the AWE striker and had to make consessions to make it profitable to them.

Does anyone else have a hunch they're going to re-release Night Ops Humvee, RHINO, ROCC and Ice Sabre as movie toys? I certsinly hope so.
I'd get three of the humvee, easy.
