Yes I remember saying I wouldn't make him but week after week I have all these emails asking me to! Also I haven't found the voyager megs to mess with. I modded Megatron's arms so the pods are detachable and gave him a completly scratch-built ball-joint neck, along with the basic repaint treatment. If you want further details, you have to click the link below the pic!

That looks great. All of these repaints are straight killer, Jin.
Tramp...I don't understand why you're so concerned with proving that people's kitbashes aren't accurate. All the crap about the battle mask, sword arm, and *drawing a blank on who's* Classics Ultra Magnus is ridiculous. Kitbashing is about individual tastes, not just yours.
Again, great job, Jin. Keep up the great work!

the reason is simple. In a lot of cases, the object of a particular custom, as stated by the customizer, is to make the model more accurate to the source material, be it cartoon or movie. Howevr, in some of these cases, their idea of "accurate" does not always match up with how to really make it more accurate. most of Jin's movie customs (except for Wreckage) are being done to make the figures more movie accurate in appearance.

Awesome, awesome, completely awesome work.

Surely for that you'd want his Brain, unless you're ancient Egyptian...

My light-tent setup makes for really cool effects like that. Transformers especially because I can make light-pipe eyes glow in two different ways. One is to jack up my camera's ISO setting, that way it picks up the light being filtered through the top of the sheet and out of the eyes.
The other way is to repaint a really bright color and put it on a black base color. The ISO setting at about 200 to 300 makes this glow effect because of the harsh contrast between the two shades. This is what you're seeing in Megatron's case rather than the light-pipe because I have the top of if covered with the silver paint.
Take a look at Prime's eyes:

They're glowing bright blue when in fact up close they're dark blue and the copper rings look brighter than the actual eye.
I go for movie accuracy when I can, however in many cases I'm forced to improvise because I don't have all the angles or source material. I picked up a Transformers 2008 Calendar which has some of the best high-res CGI images of them. However I found two versions of Megatron in there. The larger crested 'pre-redesign-head' version and the one they actually used for the movie. And then there's still some differences between the CGI pics and what was in the movie, like Meg's toes for instance. I try to do the best I can however and hopefully people will accept that. So far on EBay they have. hehehe..

Lovely but i feel the copper doesnt look like copper enough. It looks too yellow and bright, it should be darker. The rest is great though. How did you scratchbuild the neck and ball joint? I thought such things was impossible to make from styrene...

Jin, you know I love your work. That SS hand mod has done wonders for me. I just wanted to kiss your ass before I say I really am more of a fan of Timshinn's Leader Megs repaint. The copper accents are a little to vibrant for me.

Who said anything about styrene? I scratchbuild stuff from pieces of toys I have in my bin, lol!

The neck is a combobulation (heh) of parts. A gundam ball-joint, part of a Final Fantasy Spirits Within Dragonfly ship wing, and the sides are made from... DUM-DUM-DUUUUUUUM... Doc Ock claw pieces!
And my camera's ISO/light tent I use for photos makes him look brighter. The copper sections are much more blending and muted up close.

If only i had kept all my crappy old toys from my childhood, id have something to work with too. But for me everything needs to be scratchbuilt from styrene, or bought.

Finished my Ironhide today! He's all scuffed and down-on-the-range-lookin, heh. He has a new neck joint courtesy of a Gundam fig as usual. Makes all the difference in the world when he can look where he's aiming!

Awesome, awesome. Might I make a suggestion for a future update on Ironhide, can you somehow, hide his cannons from view while in vehicle form? Maybe attaching a black plate on the side of the guns so they look like a part of the chassis.

Absolutely genius. Also, Jin, do you think you could bulk up his thighs somehow, looks to skinny from the box. Great job, as usual.
