You simply cannot base things on the conversation rate.
There's freight charges as well to consider, plus Hasbro UK may have a higher or lower % markup than Hasbro US depending on a myriad of additional cost factors.
That markup is then passed on to the retailer who also adds their markups and then the consumer gets slugged.
Carbomya is closed, but can we do something to help our Canadian Brothers with US Starscream??

Most of it is nice. Minnesota has one of the highest "return rates" in the USA (the most people who move back after moving away). There are several homes on my block for sale, come be my neighbor!
Go Vikings!!! Since I was Born in the UK, I choose to follow my father's team which is the Vikings!! My father was born/from St. Paul..

Well, I don't think it's quite that simple. International currencies are really really complicated. But, as I understand it:
It isn't that somethig is worth 10USD here (USA) and 20USD there (UK), it's that it's worth 10 British Pounds in the UK...
Currency is based on what people are willing to pay for something, not what it's actually worth. This is the driving principle of the world economy as it is today. Everything used to be based on what it was actually worth, but that doesn't cut it any more.
This might help too: http://money.howstuffworks.com/exchange-rate.htm
Hope that helps. I admittedly don't totally understand the intricacies myself,

(Now I'm realy curious. I'm trying to do some research and will update my most as/if time allows.)
that is why I said, it's much cheaper for the British Citizen to Import goods themselves through internet websites, then to try to go to a local shop whose charging the GBP price.. sure you pay a little for Shipping.. but it's a small price to pay then double what it is inside your country..
Shoot US shipping rates on eBay sometimes from Hong Kong are only like 12.00, added to a toy that costs 50.00 USD.. that's pretty cheap 62.00 USD all together..
so if you think about it..
40 GBP for a Takara with an import shipping rate added in, of 12.00 GBP is 52.00 GBP.. which in Brittain is like 52 dollars because their money is soo high..
52.00 is what we are paying for MP Starscream int he Wal-Marts.. so it's comparable on that level.. cost of living is different in the UK.. and their currency is double ours.. now if I wanted to order the Takara I'd have to pay 80.00 USD, plus the 12.00 shipping.. so In reality.. we are getting screwed by our own lower currency..our only save is Wal-Mart is selling it in our own country..

But would you really want the Takara edition?

I'd much rather buy the Hasbro version.

If you don't want to be scammed. Try ebay , or some online anime toy store such as tfsource, digital toys, toynk, etoys.
Compare prices before you buy.
