The inner calves look hollow but other than that this looks incredible.

How odd that this is being touted as a Masterpiece?
Yes he looks pretty cool, but size wise and those hollow legs makes this a posh Binaltech/Alternator in my opinion.
Theres no denying the size is on a par with current Voyager and older Alternators but he just doesnt man up along side what I consider a Masterpiece.
I see Masterpiece class sitting nicely along side other Leader class figures, all big, bold and domineering!
As a Voyager class sized figure he will sit perfectly well along side his similiar sized brothers.
It reminds me of when Binal/Alt line ended and was later replaced/rebooted with Alternity, the quality remained but the size was reduced which meant they didnt fit well with their older cousins. Its a family thing!
Maybe its more a sign of the times where pricing goes up, size is reduced and the quality becomes debatable?

Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

From here on out, they're intending to do the MP line in-scale with one another (for the most part). Hence the smaller size and being properly in-scale with Prime.

I like it a lot better now that I can see it in color.
The gray test shots looked a little funky, but now it is really coming together.
Can't wait for the domestic release of MP-10.
I held off hoping they would do that.
I really hope we start seeing regular domestic releases of the MP line.

Re: Color Images of MP-12 Lambor/Sideswipe
I'm pretty impressed. Scale, color scheme, engineering and articulation-wise, it's everything I want. I'm so glad it works perfectly with MP-10.
There are a couple flaws though, the first being the painted windows. I understand there may not be room for a car interior (although if Alternity did it, why can't MPs...), but they should at least have clear windows. I guess it would take away from alt-mode realism, and if that's their reasoning I can understand it, but I'd rather have them clear.
And rubber tires. Again, G1 had them, Binaltech had them, Alternity had them. All previous MPs (with tires) had them. There's really no excuse to leave them out now, and I think any of us would spend an extra few dollars if their excuse is cost-cutting. There's no way that some little rubber tires add significant cost to a toy.
I do see the gap in inner lower calf, but I can live with that.
Otherwise, perfect, and I look forward to it. I do wish they could deal with the issues, maybe the tires foremost, but at this point in the game, I doubt that can happen. Regardless, I can't wait to pick up this toy.

I am personally happy about the size of Sideswipe. I repurchased all of the Alternators and a few Happywell Roadbots to add with my Masterpiece figure because they fit size wise with the cartoon. I will now use the Altenators Sideswipe as a different character now...
I am looking for a set of Botcon 2012 Junkions at a decent price...

Re: Color Images of MP-12 Lambor/Sideswipe
I don't understand how people expect Sideswipe to be in scale with MP-10 and still be as tall as he is. It just don't work like that. Sideswipe is a lot shorter than Optimus, so his MP has to match that. There are no other aspects of him that can be more perfect(aside from the wide chest maybe, as someone pointed out earlier). Perfect bot mode, perfect car mode. Nothing wrong with him.

Re: Color Images of MP-12 Lambor/Sideswipe
I have sometimes given some flak to hastak mainly because of crappy movies, some weird policy and sh*t like that. But I like this one and Soundwave as well. Granted, his size seems a bit odd at first but he is a cool looking TF-collectible and that is fine for me. I suppose I should pre-order this after all.

I was always a fan of the Countach ever since i seen Cannonball Run so this is an easy buy for me. His alt mode looks good compared with optimus but his robot mode should be about 2" taller, but hey thats just me.

Please don't be volatile. I'm not going to stain this thread to whip out the warning hammer.
Anyways robotmel, and others who are skeptical about the pricing of Masterpiece Sideswipe. Just remember it's less pricey and more intuitive than United Stepper, United Arftire, and all the other expensive movie exclusives that were released in prior years.

And here I thought they'd make this mold somewhat like a Binaltech/Alternator with interiors for something like a Spike or Sparkplug figure to sit in. I'm saving my money for Sounwave for now. Maybe this later on.

Give me one of these a month and I'd be one happy camper.
I don't know, i think it depends on the intricacy of the transformation. That's always how i looked at a MP figure. Accurate modes in both forms, to their original counterparts that is. Classics to me, are updates to those looks. Different, but having some obvious nods and such. I just hope he comes with some good accessories, such as a jetpack. Sideswipe NEEDS a jetpack
if it depends on the intricacy of transformation.. then MP01 wouldn't be a masterpiece figure at all.
this is what masterpiece is.. G1 cartoon accurate alt mode - G1 accurate robot mode. .. this figure accomplishes both.
I don't think I'm qualified to weigh in on the 'what makes a MasterPiece a MasterPiece?' issue, but wasn't one of the selling points of MP-10 greater animation accuracy?
If Sideswipe were any bigger I think he'd be out of scale with the rest of the new MPs which would surely defeat the purpose of this all-new mainline MasterPiece series Takara say they're going for. If the goal was to produce a large number of different MPs then it stands to reason that size might have to be sacrificed in order to accomodate quantity. I understand the fact he's only around voyager size may be disappointing but then again isn't this the cheapest Takara MP yet? Personally I can't understand folk's problem. I guess you really can't please everyone.
I certainly wouldn't say Sideswipe is fit for the Classics line. The aesthetics and size are completely wrong.
It's a great looking figure. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tempted but I simply can't afford to make MasterPiece a core part of my collection.

Re: Color Images of MP-12 Lambor/Sideswipe
I will have to sell my Binaltech Lambor to help pay for this!! I can't wait. True, the chest probably could have folded into something more svelt, but who am I to complain? I just love G1, and this looks great. They do need to go with rubber tires though, even as a kid I was dissappointed when the tires all went to plastic. But, from looking at the Red Alert mold in another thread, I do believe (and hope) the windows will be clear, or perhaps tinted, and not just painted on.

Looks like there is room in engine compartment (Sideswipe's legs) for Spike.

Rubber tires would be much better. Regarding scale issues - I will never put MP Hotrod and MP Sideswipe next to each other. I'll use KISS Hotrod instead. MP Hot Rodimus will work though.

I wonder if HasTak can finesse a licensing agreement with Nissan and Porche? I'd really like to see these guys followed up by Prowl/Bluestreak/Smokescreen and Jazz/Meister/Stepper.
Hell, I'd be ecstatic if they managed a G1-accurate Jazz.

Re: Color Images of MP-12 Lambor/Sideswipe
They could probably get Nissan. Jazz would be amazing but it's doubtful about Porsche. They are affiliated with Volkswagen, are they not? Which, as we know, is the reason we didn't get a Binaltech/Alternator Bumblebee. I guess all they'd have to do is some creative remolding to get it just close enough without infringing. But then there's the whole matter of all the racing decals...

The more I think about it, the less I'm bothered that Sideswipe is not in scale with Hot Rod, I'll just think of it as Cybertron vehicle vs. Earth Vehicle. Of course, I'm committing myself to the hope that all the 1984/85 cars are Sideswipe scale, and the likes of Kup, Blurr, Arcee, etc. are bigger. If the ever get the MP treatment, of course.
