My honest opinion of the movie is it was an awesome entertaining action flick, with poor character development. IN all reality the Character development was the main problem, maybe if they would of actually made the movie 2 1/2 hours, and had a better director this could of happened. But it was still a fun watch IMO.
The special effects, and the action sequences were awesome, also the general setting of the post-judgement day future was awesome too!
I enjoyed it, but I also had low expectations watching it. I still am having a hard time believing the perfect flawless Terminator movie can be made without James Cameron directing. On that note it was better than expected. But no Terminator movie will ever touch T2. T2 is a classic, and a masterpiece of an action movie.
Terminator Salvation is Amazing.

Re: Terminator Salvation is Amazing.
I REALLY enjoyed it. I had pretty high hopes and it totally lived up to them. There were a few small things they changed but nothing I'm losing sleep over. I thought Bale did a fantastic job as John Connor, he really brought the intensity that was I was craving after so many whiny teenage Johns in the franchise.
One of the things I enjoyed most about the film was the sense of war they created. I actually liked how the resistance seemed better equipped than in the previous films. In T1 and T2 they sort of make the Resistance seem like a rag-tag bunch of homeless people that somehow have lasers yet drive around burned out El Camino's with Gattling Gun's mounted on top. In this film they're obviously still the underdog but they're organized, they have helicopters, jets, and subs and I felt it was more realistic that way. Skynet didn't nuke every square inch of the world and there would be helicopters and **** leftover and the Resistance would find them and use them.
I also liked a lot of the subtle homages and ways they tied it in to the previous films. There were more way T1 and T2 tie-ins than there were T3 tie-ins, in fact they barely acknowledged the events of T3 at all beyond Kate and the T-1's being present in the film.
I actually didn't like the Arnie cameo and neither did my wife. We both felt it was blatant pandering to the fanboys and we both agreed that the franchise and scope of the story is so much bigger than Arnie, it's time to move on.
So for me, pretty much everything about it was great and I can't wait to see it again. Don't listen to the critics and don't go in there expecting something from 1991. TS was a great modernization and continuation of the story and I'm really looking forward to the next installment of the franchise.
