Ultimate BB dead in package?

Wondering if anyone else has experienced this, I have never seen a functioning Ult BB in any store here in Toronto. I have pushed the button on BBs in TRU, Zellers and Walmart and they were all apparently battery dead.
Am I doing something wrong, or is this toy just too appetizing to shoppers hands leaving it drained before I get to it?
I dont even know what his button is supposed to activate!

Hmmm, might be me then, I have never pushed the button that hard. I will try it next time I see one. Still though, I have been pressing with normal adult human pressing power, that should activate a supposed children's toy...

Mine was working, and I haven't seen one that wasn't. When you open it, there's a 3-way switch. It can either be set to On, Off, or 'Try Me'. It should be set to 'Try Me', but it's possible that some of them were set to off.
Either that or they're just run down from customers.
In 'Try Me', he'll do his sayings, his eyes will light up, and arm movement is more limited. With 'On', it's much the same, only the movements are broader.

Sid, I remember the same thing. In my case however, when I took him home and freed him, I realised that the selector switch to Try Me was not in the right position, hence nothing happened in the store. I hope I'm not confusing this memory for that of another toy, but I'm pretty sure that that's what happened.
I'm concerned if you press REALLY hard you're going to break something in store. You have to press the right spot, and if you do not much force is required.

good to know.
I actually hate those open window boxes, kinda bugs me that all kinds of people are poking their fingers around what may become my transformer.
I can see the sales logic, but I still hate it.

Exactly. I can remember a lot of people actually abusing Leader Brawl because they couldn't find the right way to try it out. Luckily I posted here and got the right directions.
Think of all the dust that gets in through the window, the slick slime left on your toy by God knows how many fingers, and the fact that Try Me means there are going to be batteries that are already inside the toy, leaking out fluids years later in your MISB.

i've been noticing a lot more properly transformed chests on UBBs, lately.(maybe hasbro thinks it'll sell more, now that he looks better!) it's probably too far away from the button. the button you press actually pushes the real button on his chest.

Thanks, Tweezy

Is there a picture anywhere of the properly transformed chest? I've transformed mine but still not sure if it's correct. Can't post a pic of my UBB unfortunately.

I've noticed it more with the Leader class figures, if you don't get one that's case-fresh, in a week the gimmick will be worn out or broken.
I've seen multiple Megatrons that have had their heads snapped off (and floating around the box), probably from kids pushing the gimmick button. And one Prime, whose "Try-me" window was almost ripped open, probably by a kid.

Huh? How is that possible if Megatron's head doesn't do anything when you push the button?

The thing with Ultimate Bumblebee is that the buttom have to touch a small lever that is in his chest right behind his "car front" chest.
You do have to hit it harder to work in some figures because the "car front" chest is not perfectly closer to the actual robot chest where the lever is.
When you grab the toy inside its box, look from above and you will see where the buttom is supposed to hit (a small yellow lever).
By the way, here is a picture I took of the way I consider correct of transforming his chest: http://www.superbox.com.br/blog/chest.jpg

Funny thing is, it is usually adults that abuse them. Kids seem to have a sense of how to activate toys, but the parents just cant figure it out.
I was picking up a leader Brawl, picking out the best one on the shelf, this guy with his infant son comes by, he picks up one of the brawls and it was like he was fighting with it.
Poking and prodding and jamming the parts all over the place desperately trying to get it to light up. If would have been funny if it wasnt so painful to watch. I guess "press here" with the giant arrow was not enough of an indication for him. He had his fingers in the window to the knuckle trying to figure out which part to press.

Unlucky you, Z. You must have missed the Megatron toy whose head fires off like a rocket when you activate him. Better luck next time.
