I can appreciate the attempt with FOC Bruticus to make everything come out of the figures instead of needing partsforming, but the final result was just bad. I have the retail release, which just exacerbates the issues with hideous colors. But even the Comicon/Platinum version just doesn't look good IMO. Certainly not like the game's model.

Yeah the colors are better on the platinum version, but the combined figure itself to me is not terrible, if Blast Off and Vortex were redesigned it would be passable. Of course to make it a great set they would have to start all over. But 10 years ago when I owned the figure I didn't hate it.

I'm kind of torn on this. I'm perfectly fine with UW Bruticus, as that is my definitive version, however the Autobot/Wrecker Combiner from FOC (Ruination) I'd be interested to see again, although I dont think it was in the game itself, just part of that universe.
It would also work for me, because I know several people purchased the UW Baldigus for their RID "Ruination", but I prefer to keep him as his Car Robots original name "Baldigus", so I still don't have a character named "Ruination" in my collection. Although I do have Toxiton (also a wreckers combiner), which could complicate things.

I'd add Tripredacus in there. Streamlined (and balanced) Gestalt form without excess kibble. To me, the point of a combiner is that the end result should have the proportions of a regular bot, just bigger. Like Omega Supreme or Tidal Wave.
That's why I look at FoC Bruticus as a success. Because he looks like a larger bot inkeeping with the WFC/FoC aesthetic. The whole emphasis being on sleek, alien designs. Not blocky G1.

I REALLY want that Tripredacus but I want to keep both of my kidneys.
As a prototype, the OG FOC Bruticus was severely flawed but the idea was there. If they go the Legacy Menasor route, I could see a leader FOC Bruticus with 4 voyager limbs with everything integrated. Of course, they couldn't "scramble city" and each limbs would have their own position. I think that's the perfect way to make FOC Bruticus right.

It amazes me that Beast Wars only had two combiners. But execution between the two was night and day. Lion Prowl and Ironhide's beast mode were the only parts of Magnaboss that weren't a complete mess.
Rescaling FoC Bruticus I can foresee is already in the pipeline. Unless I'm misremembering he was the only Gestalt in WFC/FoC. So I'd imagine when this SS line was greenlit, someone was already working on some Combaticon concept art. I highly doubt the three Titans of the two games will make it into SS. But the Gestalt definitely should.

The only combiner in FOC/WFC was Bruticus. Ruination was just a bonus repaint outside the games. Still, I'm sure FOC Bruticus is being remade and modernized. It would be baffling if it's not.

I read earlier, people talking about game versions of Metroplex, Omega Supreme and Trypticon being in this line. Realistically, I wouldn't get my hopes up for those. Devastator made it into the SS line. So a combiner team has precedent, at least. All three of those Titans aren't really old enough releases to warrant a redux anyway. Given their price point, I would be sceptical of even a game accurate redeco for the existing figures.

I've yet to see a Commander or a Titan being in any SS line.
As for SS69 Devastator, that's a boxset in his own category with no "class" per se.
If they make SSG FOC Bruticus, I bet they will release the members separately over the years. Then sometime later, an "independent" boxset will be released. Maybe 2. One for Bruticus, one for Ruination.

That's what I thought. I'd love to see FoC Broadside buck that trend. However unlikely his existence would be.

I can see that. Akin to the individual Train Bot releases for MP Raiden. It's been a while since I've had my head turned by a Transformer line. So I'll be looking out for Shockwave/Air Raid/Fireflight/Brimstone and Bruticus/Ruination with great interest.

We definitely need a new Titan Metroplex. Not only is the older one hard to get, it wasn't accurate to the game, even if it was promoted as the toy representative of that character.
Also, it was 10 years ago. At the very least, Hasbro could issue a 10th anniversary version, if the mold was still usable. But if that happened, we would probably know about it by now.
I don't think we'll get a game version of Omega, especially with the Guardian coming out, and IIRC he wasn't too different from the G1 version anyway.
Trypticon, on the other hand, was vastly different than the Titan we have, so he could definitely use a toy for the game version.

It was 31 years between the release of G1 and TR. It has now been six years since TR Trypticon and not even a whisper of a Gigastorm (minor) retool of that figure. I just don't think they would bother with an even more obscure one-time version of Trypticon. Likely viewed as too cost prohibitive.
I don't think accuracy is as big a consideration for producing Titan Class figures to HasTak as it is to the fanbase.

It should probably be reminded that FOC Metroplex was also canonically twice as big as both Omega Supreme and Trypticon. He was a whole city, while they were just ships. While he could work as a Titan, they would have to be smaller, like the old Supreme class or the size of Studio Series ROTF Devastator.
I hate to bring up 3rd party, but Planet X's Genesis figure did Omega at a good Supreme-esque size. Don't know how big their Trypticon was, but it was sold in two parts.

I feel like really big, costly figures like Titans might not happen, especially not in Studio Series where the biggest we've got was Devy but even then was sprinkled throughout the line and released as a boxset later.
I could be wrong anyway, HasTak does at least release one big ticket Titan toy here and there, with Guardian Robot being the current one.
Honestly I'm more interested in getting toys of the smaller bots personally. I don't have space for more huge figures and I'd like there to be focus on models that never got toys (like Barricade indicates), a lot of characters really need at least one figure.

Wouldn't that just support the argument for Commander versions of them then? Too small. Supreme was bigger. Think of the size comparison between Armada Super-Base Optimus Prime and Armada Unicron. The former was the size of Siege Jetfire or a CW Combiner, while the latter was much bigger.Rodimus Prime wrote:Wouldn't that just support the argument for Commander versions of them then? Problem with them doing a Trypticon is he turns into the Nemesis and we're already getting a transforming one of those this year. They don't look the same, Trypticon looks like a backwards Dark Side, but I doubt Hasbro would make two giant spaceships by the same name.

Well we know very little about the already-announced Nemesis, could the WFC Trypticon be its robot mode? I understand it's not technically in the SS line, but if they made the robot mode look like Trypticon, without calling it that, it would be an acceptable cheat. Unless it's been confirmed that it will look exactly like the Nemesis from the G1 cartoon?Emerje wrote:Problem with them doing a Trypticon is he turns into the Nemesis and we're already getting a transforming one of those this year. Rumors (and logic) dictate that it will be the Nemesis from the G1 cartoon.
I also heard that she will be a fembot. If she is, I hope she will looks properly female with minimum kible (no shellforming), not a dude with the "she" label (like too many "fembots").
