Was Nemesis Prime ever a character the cartoon, comics or manga? Just curious...
Just in the Armada cartoon, or if you count Scourge, he was a main character in the RiD series also. In Armada he was a one-shot character and acted much like a monkey

Black Lio Convoy appeared in episode 18 of Beast Wars II(never saw the episode, just these pics):

I'm guessing it wasn't a separeate entity.
And of course, Guiltor can be seen as a spiratul predecessor to Scourge/Nemesis Prime/Black Convoy.

Thus far, there have been four individuals with the name "Nemesis Prime".
The first being an evil clone Optimus Prime from Transformers Armada.

In this series, he was a monstrous 'puppet' controlled by Sideways and Unicron. He attacked both Autobot and Decepticon alike, wielding a powerful dark copy of the Star Saber sword (called the Dark Saber in the Japanese version, but given the U.S. name of the Vorpal Saber by the TFCC to differentiate it from the other Dark Saber, which was just the Star Saber turned evil).

It took the combined efforts of Optimus Prime (merged with Overload) and Megatron (using the Requiem Blaster) to destroy him.
The second was an evil clone of a deceased Optimus Prime from an alternate universe. This Nemesis Prime originated from the 2003 Universe toyline, but played a more prominent role in the Cybertron comics (he dimension-hopped to get there).

He was created by Unicron to be one of his generals and worked alongside Ramjet, another of Unicron's minions. He possessed a deadly artifact known as the Dead Matrix, which he sought to use in an attempt to kill Primus's spark. But, his plans were thwarted and he was killed by RiD Optimus Prime and RiD Ultra Magnus, who were shortly teleported to this dimension at some point.
However, This Nemesis would be resurrected, but on the side of good. While maintaining his brutal attitude, he was made into an Autobot as one of the Alternity.

He's still a hardcore character, even if he's no longer evil.
The third character was yet another Optimus Prime clone. This time as a clone of G1 Optimus Prime in the Alternators/Binaltech story.

Created by Doctor Arkeville with a fragment of the Universe 2003 Nemesis Prime's spark (obtained via some time-spacial pocket dimension technobabble source or whatever
), this Nemesis assumed command of the Decepticons from Megatron after Megatron had been deactivated by the killswitch from the G1 Five Faces of Darkness 5-part episode. However, he met his end when Optimus, empowered by the spark of "The Protector", redirected an attack sent by Nemesis back at him, making his body explode.
The fourth and final Nemesis Prime was not a clone, but instead a corrupted version of the character of Nova Prime from the IDW G1 comics.

In the past, Nova Prime was a great leader who had disappeared in an anomaly along with the crew of the Ark. Thought to be dead, he was possessed by the dark forces of the anti-Matrix, the Darkness, which ruled the Dead Universe. His plan was to merge the Dead Universe with the real one, in order to return home and bring order to this new universe. However, eventually he was shot by Galvatron and the Darkness passed onto Optimus. Galvatron wanted the Darkness for himself, so he made Optimus pass it onto him… before Optimus tossed Galvatron and the Darkness into a solar pool that would have destroyed both Galvy and the Darkness (but each survived somehow).
Aside from those four, there have been other characters that are similar to the Nemesis Prime character, but are not Nemesis Primes.
One such character was Black Lio Convoy, who was a clone of Lio Convoy from Beast Wars II.

Created by a device that could make evil copies of object or Transformers, he attacked the Maximals in one episode and created evil copies of Bighorn, Tasmania Kid, Apache and Scuba. However, one Maximal, Diver, had been absent. Diver used the weapons of his Niagara Base to bombard and destroy the other black Maximals and both Kid and Lio Convoy destroyed the copy machine, causing Black Lio Convoy to fade away in pain and rage.
Another character, and probably the most famous, coolest, most popular, and most successful one of the all, was Scourge from Robots in Disguise. While being a clone of Optimus, he was more than just a lookalike.

Scourge was the leader of the subgroup of Decepticons serving under the command of the Predacon Megatron (I am not kidding with this). Unlike the others like him, he was a loyal soldier and a very competent one at that. He could easily hold his own in battle and wouldn’t fall so quickly. He made several accomplishments in the series and the main reason he ever failed was due to whatever interference he received by the jealous Predacon sub commander Sky-Byte (who believed Scourge was trying to outrank him). Eventually, Scourge did become the more favored soldier of Megatron’s, but Scourge also developed a treacherous streak. He secretly plotted to take command of the both the Cons and Preds, and once Megatron was seemingly destroyed by the Autobots, he did. However, once Megatron returned as Galvatron, he returned to hiding his plans for glory and resumed faking his loyalty. However, he soon gained control over the mighty Autobot Fortress Maximus. With this seemingly unlimited power at his fingertips, he made his move again to usurp Galvatron. However, due to the Autobots thwarting both his and Galvatron’s plans, Galvatron took disciplinary action on both Scourge and all his Decepticons, wiping their memories and making them mindless, loyal followers of Galvatron, Sky-Byte, and the other Predacons. He, along with all the Cons and Preds (except for Sky-Byte) was eventually captured by the Autobots and taken to Cybertron to meet his fate with the Autobot hands of justice.
Another one was Grand Scourge, a redeco of a model kit of Energon Optimus Prime.

He only appeared in some pack-in fiction that came with his model, so there’s not much known about him. Although, since his name is Grand Scourge, some think he might be related to Armada Nemesis Prime (whose Japanese name was “Scourge” also).
There’s also Shattered Glass Optimus Prime, who’s a naturally evil Autobot.

And there the first ever Optimus Prime clone.

And of course, there’s Motormaster, the first evil black truck rival for Optimus Prime.

heh, gotta love scale. Motormaster is as tall as Prime in bot mode, and as long as Prime with trailer in alt mode. Yet MM uses his trailer as the majority of his body while Prime is only the cab. It's no wonder he hates all those other black semi evil robots.

Not really...the truck mode is kinda small compared to Prime's cab and trailer. I owned both as a kid.
In TF2000/RID, there was no Nemesis Prime, he was referred to as Black Convoy in TF2000, and as Scourge in RID. He is really a Combatracon, since his mini fraction was him and the other Combatracons who formed Valdigus, hence the upside down G2 Autobot logo. Although they sport decepticon symbols in the RID toyline, they were never shown in the RID cartoon with those symbols.
I never really saw the name Nemesis Prime until 2002/03 Armada.
Personally, I think Black Convoy was the coolest, and most sought after toy back in 2000/2001

It was not called "Transformers 2000", it was called "Transformers: Car Robots" ("TF2000" was the result of fan rumors).bvzxa wrote:In TF2000/RID, there was no Nemesis Prime, he was referred to as Black Convoy in TF2000, and as Scourge in RID. The final nitpick: in Car Robot they were called "Combatrons" (which happenes to be the same Japanese name as the G1 group sans Black Convoy), and "Commandos" is used in RiD.

Re: Who is Nemisses Prime
I have a though on incorporating Nemesis Prime into G1. Say the clone from "Prime Problem" survive. Say the crystals somehow gave him a life of his own and Megatron manipulated him into hating and wanting to destroy the original Optimus Prime (naturally this would have to happen before 2005). He gives himself a new paint job, changes allegiances and bingo we have Nemesis Prime.
Of course he'd probably die or disappear or something before 2005.
Oh just had another thought...What if the Quintisons originally tried to clone Optimus Prime instead of zombifying him in "Dark Awakening" but the clone failed personality wise and was too evil to pass for the genuine article.

I would have liked to have seen him as an alternate baddy than Megatron with his own little fighting force, and of course, including a reincarnation of Drill Nuts. The comics had a few different factions, so why not one led by a Nemesis Prime? I think he would have even made a cool addition to the animated series due to them scrounging for effective baddies in season 1, but i don't think the writers are all fully aware of the TF universe in it's entirety, so no one writes stuff from left field using hardly known characters.
ANybody have a list of comics that this Nemesis/Black Convoy appeared in?

The Colossal Cannon Soldier Guiltaur is a bizarre, vicious fusion of Optimus Prime and Megatron, built by the Quintessons. Created from the same Cybertonium alloys which made Optimus Prime so resilient, and boasting a Destrogun many times more powerful than Megatron's fusion cannon, his combat power exceeds his predecessors' in nearly every way.
Guiltaur, however, is ultimately a lifeless shell, animated by the ghost of Starscream, causing him to succumb to the same weaknesses as the Decepticon jet.
so epic, it seems like a fan character come to realization

So far, Optimus Prime had these clones in G1 alone:
- Optimus Prime Clone in A Prime Problem
- Guiltar
- Nise Convoy ("False Convoy") in Battlestars by Dark Nova
And then in Binaltech and Universe we got Nemesis Prime clones. When does it end?

Nemesis Prime is sometimes known as Black Convoy
Nemesis Prime should not be confused with...
* The other instances of the word "Nemesis".
* The other instances of the word "Prime".
* Scourge, the evil clone of Optimus Prime from the Robots in Disguise franchise.
* Grand Scourge, the evil clone of Optimus Prime from Energon.
