20th Anniversay TF:TM Widescreen

I was expecting the black bars to be on the top and bottom of the sceen when watching the movie, but it takes up the full screen. Does anyone else have this problem or is this normal and the widescreen is supposed to take up the full screen?

It depends. If the widescreen format of the movie is 1.85:1 or 16:9 (check the back of the DVD case), the image will fit perfectly onto a widescreen TV. You will only get black bars for major hollywood movies, which are often filmed at 2.40:1 or 2.35:1.

The sony BMG disc is widescreen at 1.78:1, so the film should fit pretty much all of the screen.

It could also be that you are watching the full screen version on disc 2.

It's 16x9. None of the other numbers are mentioned. Television and DVD player are set at 16:9. Thanks or the reply.
