Best Buy Racthet and Megatron are part of the "Premium Series"
Wow, this sucks. It doesn't say much about Hasbro as a company. If they "NEED" TF's that bad ... and they are willing to milk it like this. It's just sad.
This is the kind of thing that will make/break the co. A lot of people may very well decide their MISB collection now.
I'm thinking back to Robovision Prime. Maybe he was an early release of this premium line? The packaging is kinda similar.
'tis a sad day.

I had been trying to put my finger on why I was so eager for repaints during G1, BW, Energon, Cybertron, Classics etc. but when the movie line issued its repaints I just couldnt get excited.
My above post is the reason, Hasbro dealt the collectors a poopy hand redeco wise this time around.
Wel, look at the bright side. Atleast we know we won't be getting a movie redeco as a Botcon Exc. next year.
Heres hoping we dont
LOL watch hasbro give us scourge and warpath, but only in a Botcon set.
I can already hear the whining.
Sure we will...

Botcon Exclusive Leader Class Ultra Magnus.

And his Product Description will go something like: Advanced Automorph Technology... Lights and Sounds... We're Botcon, and we take the money of sucker collectors, just like you!

And one we've heard this before... Voyager Class Skywarp, Dirge, Thrust, and Ramjet, packaged together in the "Give Us Even More Money To Complete Your Seeker" Collection.

I can sadly see this happening real easy with Skywarp.

LOL, if that happens, I think I'll be saving about 500 bucks this spring.

Hasbro, get to the repaints we actually want! Classics Sunstorm and a clear (not blue mind you, CLEAR) ghost SS.

I agree, Sunstorm is one of my favorites. I got the Titanium Version of him, and he sure has a place in my seekers. And maybe even a "G1" repaint of Megatron in his Correct G1 coloring.

I dont mind totally different repaints...I never buy them anyway I do however mind the same character with the same paint color only its metallic and its passed off to us like hey its new and fresh...its just a scam that went to far....if it was rachet that was metallic purple maybe just maybe I wouldnt take such an offense...I mean I didnt buy the G1 colored Jazz or the rachet and I love those color schemes. I just thinks its a slap in the consumers face to put out the same color characters but with the hook hey look snazzy metallic what you have is crap so come on buy the same thing over and over..and like I said lil kids fall for that big time...next thing you know they are gonna start a new line of toys and leave the wings or the wheels off the damn toy until 2 months later then they will be like buy rachet now with rolling wheels.
I was thinkin those first diaclone toys they were awesome...well constructed..adult looking toys well painted sturdy toys remember when Kup and like Cyclonus's toy came out they were totally laughable. I was like 7 when Cyclonus kup and Galvatron came out I just remember thinking to myself wow these things are really taking a turn for the worse...I was really happy with the movie line it was a return to the adultish looking era of the TFs I mean it wasnt perfect but for the most part it was great now they pull this metallic repaint BS ...I donno I just wish this company was more respectful to its consumers and I mean all the consumers from lil kids through to hardcore fanatics I want us all to be treated fair thats all.

In my opinion the Metallic Finish toys SHOULD be the Botcon Exclusives. That way the Collectors could get their Super Rare Gem, and us "Consumers" won't get so upset and angry over them.

True. It would definately work in that sense. Similar to how Takara would have handled it in the past. Repaints as cool limited collectors items.

Well, since Leader Megs hasn't been repainted yet, I think you have good chance of getting your wish.
I've seen plenty of Custom "Metallic" Leader Megatrons in multiple Kitbash areas around the net. Just makes realize 2 things: How much I appreciate the original scheme, albeit it's way off from the film, and how much of a Collector's Item I'm gonna have.

Although I'm a sucker for this mold, so I'll probably end up buying the repaint as well.

Damn, do I really need two leader Primes? I hate to say it but I actually wish this wasn't true. Not having them around will take away the temptation to get one (or all of them)!

metal
Well this was a huge kick in the pants. Thank you Hasbro
I just hope they do a Blackout metal scheme. I love that figure. But mine broke. SO I will be buying this if it comes out.

What Transformer are you? (Movie)
My Results:

Ironhide
You are the weapon specialist. You are probably the only Autobot who doesn't give a crud about the humans and repeatedly asks permission to blow something up. You are very strong and big as well as always suggesting the BIGGER sort of weapon. You are also good at sports; mostly contact sports. You can be easily irritated and may have anger issues. You also have a huge truck mode. Sweet.

Man, if they can do a Leader Megatron that looks as good as the Best-Buy Voyager repaint, I'll be all over that like a donkey on a waffle.

I'm going to feel pretty silly about worrying whether i was going to get there in time to get the Best Buy Megatron if a leader class version comes out with the same paint scheme.
Oh well.

Let's not go the way of Star Wars collectors...
Let's not buy every single version of every single figure...
...
At least I haven't found a Voyager Prime yet. Could be a good thing.
What does this teach me? Wait until a line is over until I collect it.
F***.

All the Best Buys are sold out of Megs and Ratchet....Which sucks....Cause I didn't get one.

I don't really care too much for these upgraded repaints... their way of saying "We f**ked something up, now we're gonna try to fix it and charge collectors even more for something we shoulda gotten right in the first place." At least that's the story behind the Megatron... Ratchet doesn't need to be that shiny... waste of paint in my opinion...
wake me up when they do a premium version of Protoform Prime, the figure kicks ass and with the right paint (as several people have demonstrated in the kitbash forum) he can get even better, I'd gladly slap down some cash for a crazy metallic version.

agreed. tell you the truth, this is just disappointing. the movie is what got me into TFs again, and i have been committed to finding all the characters. now, after i am almost finished with my movie collection, i find out that they are releasing "good" versions of them. i realize that Hasbro is doing this to make money, but it stings none the less.

Thanks, Tweezy

I wound up getting Ratchet today. I may return my Rescue version, I may not. I liked the scheme of Megatron but just hate that mold so much, I just couldn't do it. They should have offered the Leader Megatron and the Voyager Ratchet.
