You can think whatever you want about exclusives.
I only ask that before anyone posts a comment, please understand what the word "exclusive" means. It seems to pass over many peoples heads.

Botcon exclusive = limited release toy that you buy in the largest quantities possible to scalp on Ebay to "recoup your costs".
(laaaame)
The only Botcon figures to ever interest me were the talking Arcee and pre-BW Primal and Megatron. But I'm not getting them, not worth the money.

Rest assured, you would know if I opened my mouth.Gutter Bunny wrote:I'm not seeing how it is a stupid comment. While limited production/availabiltiy is not the ONLY way for a figure to become rare, it is indeed a vailid one.
You misunderstand, I'm not saying it's a stupid way to be qualified a rare, it's more like he just came off as a spoiled brat going "gimme gimme". It's unreasonable to be able to have everyone get an equal share of everything, but the concept of being solely obsessed with owning things others can't have simply because most people can't have them is a little repulsive.
Anyway, you're not talking ... we type in here. Move your mouth all that you want, and let's see if I can tell.
Does this mean you searched through my recent postings and found evidence of a "spoiled brat"?
I'm 29 years old. I pay my own way for everything. Never has that proverbial "silver spoon" even touched my lips.
I don't own any Botcon stuff, nor will I until a deal that I cannot refuse comes along. I'm not holding my breath.
Maybe you'll grow up one day and realize that there is a lot more to a persons character than some random post in an internet forum.

Well, I did have to retard my maturity level to even be involved in this conversation. I will grow back up now, so by all means... go ahead and have the last word. My gift to you.
There's no point in getting this thread locked, so let's allow the nice people in here to get back to their discussion.

I wasn't really looking for a fight, hence why I'm trying to avoid discussing it further. Everyone has their own opinions, and mine isn't better than yours or vice-versa.
I've said all I needed to say about it now.

Why don't we just all bum rush the place? We know the location, the times of the setup, and so on. Let's pull a Ocean's 11 and get the goodies and make mass produced KOs! EXCLUSIVES FOR ALL!

I don't think they're a rip off at all - its the price you have to pay when dealing with the absolutely enormous amount of middle men in between you and its conception on a designer's table. That's why a deluxe costs $10 at the store, though the actual "cost" of the figure is probably somewhere around $3 - its called business, and its called people have to recover and make money, and in super limited run items, the cost to you goes up as it takes just as much effort to get your botcon exclusive to you as it does your repaint # 4 of armada overload.

Once more for those who have missed it.
The reason that Classics Starscream cost 10 dollars was because Hasbro made tens of thousands of them (if not more, toy companies rarely release those numbers). This keeps the per-unit cost low.
For BotCon, a small number of new parts had to be made. The guy who made those parts had to be paid. New paint decos had to be designed. That guy had to be paid. Master Collector had to put together enough money to pay Takara to make a small run of these limited edition figures.
Also, the money from these figures helps to pay for a HUGE convention. Renting a giant hall for the better part of a week and months worth of advertising is not cheap.
If Master Collector (and previously, 3H) charged less for these figures, BotCon could not happen. The figures are made for attendees at BotCon to help PAY for BotCon.
