Perfect Effect Leonidas (Lio Convoy)

The original toy is as far as I know still amazing, but it's pretty rare I would imagine. Also, it's good to have a more "mechanical" option that isn't wearing a fur coat.
Colour me mildly interested. I have no connection with the character, but a Prime turning into a lion is awesome. Wish they'd done it for BW instead of the somewhat questionable gorilla.

I'd be tempted to buy it if it's being made in a leader scale. since HasTak has never made a fully articulated Leader scale lion-bot before.

The original had obstructive gimmicks and a very flat head to necessitate transformation. Proportions on the thing were just god-awful. Robot Masters version was much, much better...at the sacrifice of size. Bought the original for $40 MISB. Five months later I dropped him off at a local Salvation Army. This 3P version I actually do like, despite his anorexia. Transformation to lion mode seems lazy, but heck, even the original Lio Convoy had a lazy transformation.

Yep, that's the truth. That's why I loved the RM versions so much (especially the exclusive DVD version with the metallic paint job; that thing looks incredible on the shelf in bot mode).
I'm in for this thing either way though, in all likelihood just because I wanna encourage 3rd party Beast Wars stuff, even if some of it isn't that great. I do hope they make some improvements to this design though, because that beast mode really is bugging me a lot (of course, a killer bot mode remedies that as that's how I'll likely be displaying him anyway, but if they both look like crap, then ugh).

Not gonna lie, looking at the pics on TFWiki, the Robot Masters toy looks kinda derpy, especially in lion mode. I do see what you mean about the "big" toy's proportions, but...I've seen worse.
In any case, I eagerly await the PE version (or I might just buy a Cybertron Leobreaker and customize him a bit- it does mean missing out on SHOULDER LION HEAD but it looks a fun toy).

Check out the Seibertron gallery of it. You get more angles of the figure and it shows it off much better I'm sure.Delta Magnus wrote:Not gonna lie, looking at the pics on TFWiki, the Robot Masters toy looks kinda derpy, especially in lion mode. Oh darn, that beast mode is worse than I thought...
Yeesh.
On that note, are the Robot Master Seekers any good?

I don't own any of the RM Seekers, but as far as I can tell based on having poured over pics of them for quite some time (in comparing them to the Classics Seekers), they Classics Seeker mold is way better, especially for G1 toon accuracy.

Same here; I want more Beast Wars. At the top of my list are voyager Cybertronian Big Convoy, Lio Convoy, and Optimus Primal. Of course, they could also make an accurate Blackarachnia.

Kinda like more info on this as it seems like a unique and different 3rd party toy. Wish their was test shots, size comparisons and colors released. Hoping Leonidas is a Ultra or leader scale toy.
Think doing 3rd party MP BW Voyager, Ultra and Leader scale toys might sell well if the right characters toys are chosen. Think a Voyager-Ultra scale Tigatron would be in high demand. Followed by his high in demand repaints-retools using the same sculpt like Cheetor, Shadow Panther and Ravage.

except Ravage was a Transmetal (and so a different mold altogether), and I don't think I've ever seen anyone buy yourself, Tsu (you size queen) asking for Voyager's of BW Cheetor and his repaints.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

Initial teaser was Don's IDW design, but subsequent images and prototypes (?) show an emaciated lion with a design that is only vaguely reminiscent of Lio Convoy. A rather unfortunate departure from the initial teaser, but I welcome it nonetheless. He can be a reimagining of Lio Convoy.

Wow just Wow, Feared it got cancelled. This turned out mountains better than I could have ever dreamed it could. Big MP 8.5 inch robot mode, High sculpting, Awesome weapons, Bulky yet sleek powerful looking sculpting in both modes.
Can't wait to see how beautiful this looks in Lio Convoy colors.
Plan to pre-order this toy as soon as pre-orders go up on most USA imports sites. Guessing the price will be around $115 to $125.

Gonna have to pass... was assuming this would be able to fit into my classics collection.
Really a shame too... such a beautiful looking piece of work here.

I DO wish this was Classics sized, but I may still bite.
It is a bit of a one-off for me, and it looks wicked good. I LOVE the gundam-esque aesthetic.
It will be down a bit on my priority list though, but I'll keep my eye on this.
If I can get it for a price I like, I'll ponce on it.

Bummer it's not classics scale. If I had more MPs I might be able justify this but I'm lame and don't even have the mp-10 mold yet. Just mp-01, mp-04s, universe/mp-03SW, mp-11T....man I should pick up mp-10.
