I can see why. When you step back, the original molds for RID were Optimus, Magnus, the Autobot brothers and Megatron. I'd imagine a decent chunk of budget could go into them.

Looking at that list of pros for X brawn, it's no wonder I'm having such trouble trying to track him and his brothers down. No one wants to part with them!

I recently bought Generations Brainstorm (and the Headmaster neck joint hasn't broken! YAAAYYY!), it's not the kind of figure I'd usually go for, but I've enjoyed fiddling around with it and I like the Headmaster gimmick more than I thought I would. The Titan Wars artwork does puts an emphasis on Headmasters, so I'd totally support a line of new Generations Headmasters if they're done as well as Brainstorm. I don't know much about the G1 Headmasters as characters, but new Generations toys of Skullcruncher and Hardhead would be great (though I don't think I could stop myself covering all of Skullcruncher's Decepticon symbols with BW Predacon reprolabels...) The rumours say we're getting Soundwave, Galvatron and Sentinel as Headmasters along with Blaster, but I do hope the line doesn't go TOO overboard with Headmaster versions of classic characters. Optimus Maximus in Combiner Wars was nice of course, and we finally got a good Classics Ironhide out of it, but I wouldn't want things like that to become the norm going forward.

Same here. I really am wanting a new Galvatron, but I would prefer him not being a Headmaster. Also welcome to Seibertron.com!

Or give us more Beast Wars
I can understand a reluctance to try and produce the main cast, as many would be an extreme pain to create to be as 'realistic' or show accurate as possible (Tarantualas, and Black Arachnia spring to mind. Airazor, and especially Terrorsaur woudl be very difficult to cram a whole bot into his beast mode), but yeah, show some love to BW and move on to something else, then circle back after a while.
What's kind of funny is that after season 1, they were all pretty toy-accurate models.
I honestly wouldn't mind if they did one or two platinum sets next year of the Transmetals (preferably without chrome since they still can't seem to find a good solution to keep it from flaking) so America can finally have a TM Megatron that doesn't break and just to give them a re-release like they did for the season one guys for the 10th anniversary. Also they could maybe squeeze Ravage into one of them (that would also even them out, having 4 Maximals and 4 Predacons).
Armada Predacon
While they're made from the same mold it's not Megs.

Shhhhhhh... I was never here. You never got anything from me.

All this talk about the Car Robots/RiD 2001 toys makes me think that we need some sort of "Car Robots/RiD 2001 Toy Appreciation Thread" or something.
Anyway,Titan Wars. Thinking about the name some more, if the gimmick of this line is going to be Headmasters and maybe some Targetmasters or Powermasters, it's enough make me wonder why they didn't just call the line "Master Wars" instead.
Especially since "Titan" has lately become so affiliated with the Metrotitans of IDW.
And with the comics now going into the search for the lost colony worlds, this could have been an opportunity for them to introduce Planet Master.

Could it be the "Titan" Fort Max being a Headmaster that leads to the title and Headmaster connection?

I suppose, but as IDW Fort Max is a regular-sized guy, he'd have to upgrade to a Metrotitan-esque body to match his new toy in-fiction.Agamemnon wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Anyway,Titan Wars. Still, though, him being the only one wouldn't make it a "War of Titans" in the same way that Combiner Wars is a "War of Combiners". If this were a line themed around Titan class Citybots then it might work. But as it seems like it might be more themed around Master technology, a name like "Master Wars" would fit better (and serve as a dual homage name to the original Master Wars).

I'm with you. I'm just thinking about those schematic posters we saw with what appeared to be city-bot or fortress type toys in Fort Max and Blaster, if memory serves. Maybe even Overlord. It wouldn't be the first time comics adapted to Hasbro toy designs, eh?

I too think the name is a misstep, but simply for the reason that titan is a toy class and would bring about confusion (which it instantly did). I guess the headmaster bodies are titans in comparison to their robot heads but that that is still a weak reason. Master Wars is a far better title. Or just go back to generations. I mean its not like every single toy in combiner wars combined.

I agree with both of you simultaneously. I think that Munkky said is that he just doesnt want each generations line to just push a particular gimmick. While CW didnt have combiners at every class, I do think it could be fun to have some deluxes which combine while others dont. Like that we could have gotten a Voyager Dinobot and a deluxe Blackaachnia while also getting an updated Silverbolt combiner. But it ushing a gimmick means anytoy you may want would end up with an implementation of said gimmick (at least in the same class and wave). I reall liked how both a minicon combiner, a targetmaster an armada toy and a war for cybertron figure all in the same wave. I think that is what Munkky was talking about and I do find that fun.
Think about it this way, Hellscream, if they remade the 3 RID brothers but it was part of the titan wars line, wouldnt you rather that just means they are released at the same time as other figures which ae head/target masters rather than it meaning they will have an extra gimmick?

I can honestly say that I wouldn't care either way, outside of BW I simply judge a figure by it's poseability and looks. I never bought the car brothers because I thought they looked kinda weird, and prowl had something funky happening with his abdomen.
And while I agree they shouldn't push gimmicks, it is a good excuse to churn out whole groups of figures (for cw it was the gestalts, now it'll be the head/target masters; so a few weirdos get thrown in, that has to happen

I would too. Universe was doing that before with armada and beast wars being all thrown together with G1.

I would too. Universe was doing that before with armada and beast wars being all thrown together with G1.
Yeah, it was pretty great, I loved their paint jobs; but don't forget they had beast machines, rid, machine wars, and the G2 jets too

Which oys were machine war homages?
Also, while a poorly conceived line, the lineup of the Titanium line when all was said and done was pretty sweet.

They used the machine wars soundwave, starscream and duststorm figures as soundwave, king atlas and whirl.
Also, I have no idea who King Atlas is, but it would be cool to get an update, maybe recolor cw cyclonus into King Atlas
