Which comic should I read?!?!
- Weapon: Double Beam Guns
Hey all.
So, I was considering getting into reading some Transformers comics. However, I have no idea where to start. Do you have any suggestions. I'm pretty open in terms of subjects (movie universe, G1, Beast era, etc) but I'd like something newer so I can get a hold of it more easily.
Thanks!

If you could not find the original posting (19 Sep 10), here are my inputs:
Here are my recommendations:
1.) Last Stand of the Wreckers
2.) Megatron Origin
3.) Stormbringer
4.) Maximum Dinobots
5.) Spotlight: Revelation
6.) All Hail Megatron
If you want to stray outside of the IDW continuity, then I would definitely recommend all three of Dreamwave's "War Within" story-arcs.

Okay this is a COMPLEX question, but it can be made simple
If you want the best Transformers book EVER drawn and created, then get - Transformers animated The Arrival
(yeah i have to say it's the best because i drew alot of it haha)
If you want a fantastic TF story with good characters, artwork, action and plotting read - Worlds Collide by Furrman and Don
published by DW
If you want something more offworld in space and your not botherd about transforming - Stormbringer by Furrman and Don
published by IDW
If you want the origin of it all with great story, art and TF's before they go to earth - WarWithin Volume 1
published by DW
If you want the current continuity published by IDW you have to be picky because they relaunch often - Transformers Ongoing in shops every month
hope that helps

When I started getting back into Transformers (previously my last encounter was Marvel's Generation 2 - when that ended, life took over and it took until 2007 to spark my interest again), I purchased The Reign of Starscream, All Hail Megatron, Stormbringer and Spotlight: Revelations. Of coarse, that just whet my whistle for more. I don't think it matters where you start out. Once you're hooked, you're going to be hungry for more.
My favorite is still Last Stand of the Wreckers, followed by AHM, Spotlights Drift and Blurr, and I'm really enjoying the Drift mini-series.
I've yet to get the Animated stuff (sorry TheBoo - I'll get around to it!), so I don't have an opinion on that continuity. Lots of fans seem to like it tho!

Okay I'll TRY to not be biased lol
alot of people fall in love with TFA, it has really good character writing and iconic designs, also more girls prefer TFA which makes me happy

the IDW TFA Arrival books are actually part of the cartoons continuity because Marty Isenberg wrote them... for example, i drew the first official appearance of Oilslick in TFAArrival #3 before he even appeared in the cartoon lol.
But TFA is like Marmite, some love it and some hate it

How freakin' awesome is that to actually get to work on this stuff! You are in quite the enviable position! I just think that's totally cool that you get to work on something you enjoy so much!
I don't know that I honestly had much interest in Animated until now...I'll check it out ASAP!

Thanxx, i started off a TF fan in the 80's and now i am proud that i've contributed to the Legand that is Transformers

What really gets me excited tho is when i get emails and messages on DA from kids (and adults who are still kids like me) who have just gotten into TF and really enjoyed my work, it's very touching

I'd say start with either War Within 1 from DreamWave or the G1 stories (either volume 1 or 2) from DreamWave. I never read the IDW stuff because when they first started out, they were horrible. The TFA stuff I've never even heard of, of course I never got into the cartoon either, and the toys are stupid, except for maybe Jazz and Soundwave w/Ratbat. But sometime you mUST read the original Marvel G1 and G2 comics, if you're a fan worth your salt. Be reminded that it is from the 80s, but it gave Simon Furman his entry into the TF Universe, and the last 25 US issues of Marvel and the entire G2 series is just f**king awesome. And yes, the final 5 issues of the Armada comics, Worlds Collide. If anything can come close to the end of G1 and G2, that story arc did.

IDW's GREAT series All Hail Megatron and the excellant ongoing series. That would be the best place to start. And pay no attention to the haters here they can't stand the fact that McCarthy and Costa have written better stories than Furman.

They definitely are starting to get it going in a good direction, for sure!

So, I was considering getting into reading some Transformers comics. However, I have no idea where to start. Do you have any suggestions. I'm pretty open in terms of subjects (movie universe, G1, Beast era, etc) but I'd like something newer so I can get a hold of it more easily.
