Why is your favourite line your favourite?

Postby Raymond101 » Sat Dec 08, 2007 8:16 pm

For me my favourite lines are the movie and Cybertron/Galaxy Force lines.

Why?

Well, for the movie line, it was what got me back into Transformers. It was what gave me back my inner TF fan and brought me to Seibertron.com, to BWTF, to Cliffbee, and to Youtube and all sorts of places where I could get back in touch with Transformers. So at the very least, I owe the movie and its toys that much. With the actual line itself, sure it's not the playable, and the Qc is definitely lower than I remember when I was into Beast Wars. Nevertheless, I enjoy the aesthetic of the 'alien' look, and the poseability of most of the toys is very good.

Now I'm a sucker for gimmicks and prior to the movie I was already well aware of the Cybertron line (I've been to TRU in HK during the holidays and they were absolutely stocked with every single figure in 2005 - 06), although I never got any of the figures since I was not interested in TFs yet. I knew of Leader Prime, Vector Prime, Primus, Galvatron etc. and the huge churnout of figures from that line. As I got further into the movie line, I really wanted to collect those figures although Australia is a poor source for Cybertron figures. But seriously that line is so epic to me and I love Primus, Scattorshot, Prime, VP and pretty much every other one that I got. Not regret at all.

These two lines are the main ones I have been working on for the past few months.

Well, G1 is really nostalgic for me...
But my favorite line is probably the Classics,
although it's not "perfect" imo,
both in figures released, and in the features of the individual figures,
it's more of what G1 should've been.

Right behind that is probably the Movie line, and from the looks so far, the Animated line.

Why?
The movie line (although starting to wear thin) was fresh.
It really renewed my interest in TF.
The Animated line, because I'm really really diggin' the styling of the figures--
both modes are really on point imo.

Without a doubt, Classics. Having grown up on the G1 cartoons like most everyone here, I was disappointed with the stiff, hideous figures associated with the characters. A lot of the toys didn't even look like their cartoon appearence. (Jetfire, anyone?) Classics fixed all that. Not only are they superb representations of the show, but they're extremely poseable, which makes them all the more fun to play with. I'm still drooling over Classics 2.0

I'm gonna agree with you on that one. Cybertron was what got me back into the toys, I hadn't bought Transformers consecutively since G1.

Energon and nothing beets it, Solid toys, good sculpting, fun theme, truly the best transformers line.
Why, because I like what I already named off, plus there was just so much creativity in this line, the energon weapons, deluxes and voyagers being able to combined, heck I even like Grand Convoy, plus there was a lot of good G1 homage’s.

Alts they make great diplays in either mode! And they make great G1 homages. Although Beast Wars is a close second

For me the original Transformers based on Diaclones are my favorite. Rubber tires, real vehicles, snazzy details, that late 70's / early '80's look. It all works so well for me. :)

G1 forever!

It's a tie between Galaxy Force and Beast Wars (normal animals).
Beast Wars - since the toys where made to look like real animals and i can't forget the adoration feeling i had for them when i was little.

Galaxy Force - They are what got me really into Transformers, even though i've never bought one. They sure looked neat to look at.

Classics.

The nostalgia factor got me hooked but the articulation and overall high quality of those figures kept my interest and caused me to expand out to the Cybertron and Energon lines.

As most of you know, I'm first and foremost a G1 fan, but I'm glad that there were still some Cybertron figures available when the Classics were first released b/c I've since checked out that cartoon and like it in it's own right.

So, not only did Classics satisfy my curiosity and give me a nostalgia fix, it also introduced me to something new.

To me, each line has its ups and downs. I got back into Transformers at the end of the Classics line so I'm quite fond of them. I love the size and detail of the MP line. About the only ones I don't care for are the Beast Wars Figures. The only bots that turn into animals that I actually want in my collection are the original G1 cassettes.

I want to say Classics since they finally made G1 look good, but there's still too few of them to consider it a full fledged line just yet. But based on what they have released, it's near perfect thanks to the designs - for the first time ever - lookng awesome in BOTH modes. And they can pose, which is a very nice change.

Masterpieces & Alternators obviously get a major vote as well since they also finally made G1 look good. Bigger, better & modernized versions of the classic characters = pure hit!

If the War Within Titaniums continued, they would probably get my vote for best or second best line ever. I personally think the WW versions of G1 characters are possibly the best incarnations of those characters ever, and I vastly prefer their designs over any Earth mode design.
