Yes it is there, yes, I noticed it, but I just don't think it is as bad an eyesore as you do.
The dark colors blend it in well enough with the back of the truck.

I do tend to be a bit more forgiving on triple changers having a few more flaws.

The one that does bug me on this guy are the trailer wheels hanging off the back of the arm.
But just like the gap you mentioned, the other elements of that mode are great.

The size thing bugs some people, so throw that in as a flaw and he is at 90% in all 3 modes IMO.
I'll take that over hasbro's offering which I think fails on all 3.
