Even at normal size, I'd still say Metroplex takes it after a fantastic destructive battle!

Metroplex FTW.
Metroplex has beaten Trypsy many times before, while FortMax has defeated Scorponok too.
==>Metroplex VS FortMax
Metroplex= larger than FortMax.
(FortMax's head is the size of an average Transformer)
And Metroplex seems to have much more firepower than FortMax too.

So long as they are the same size I'ld like to not a Skorponok that was the same size as Shockwave gave a fairly even match in marvel comics run of TF.Eradicator wrote:...with all four being the same size.
Skorponok also had UltraMagnus dead to rights in the IDWs comic; he wasn't too conscerned with marypoppins of matrix holders (practically prime in every way) and they were also the same size.
Should Skorponok be remotely the same size as his opponents it would be comparable to them fighting a scaled up Shockwave or Ultra Magnus.
And has Trypticon ever fought at full power against Fort max? I don't think he has in the toon...
I think Metro has the most potential firepower wise but Skorp has the combat reflexes to win it up close.
neither trypsy nor fort seem able to fight a second tier faction leader scaled up to there own size.

That would be a sweet fight. Very destructive. Though I'm not sure who'd win I'll go with everyone else and say Metroplex.

Metroplex's cool factor is overwhelming...
Definitely Metro for the win.

First, I agree that this boils down to Metroplex vs. Fortress Maximus.
Now:
If this is American continuity, then I agree with the rest of you with Metroplex
BUT
If Fortress Maximus is the Japanese Headmasters version, then I give the win to him.

I'd say Scorponok.

He's like Shockwave but as a headmaster with triple changer capabilities and unbreakable claws.
I don't see how Fortmax or even Metroplex could beat a Shockwave that was the same size as them. Marvels' version of Scorpo is about even with Shockwave, having fought to a draw. IDWs version is more powerful than Ultra Magnus. Scorponok is the closest one to achieving a victory against a leader class TF and he was the same size as his opponent in both cases.
Fortmax in G1 toon continuity beat Scorponok for two reason's. Spike wasn't a nebulon pacifist, and 80's toon villians just can't win. The headmaster series of Japan has a version that falls in the 'super robo' class, effectively beating any similar TF that is not in this class. The thing is IDW's leader tier seem to be in this class and Scorponok is likely included considering how he handled Ultra Magnus. Even with Spike, Japan's Fortmax is the bigger threat.

Metroplex is slow... too slow to fight a Japan's Fortmax. He likely has the best firepower but they are all highly energon consuming. At the same size he really should not win.
Trypticon... Has he ever been seen at full power? His win record is pretty low, though most of his loses are based on his power reserves

If Japan's Fortmax is in play then it's only fair to place Masterforce Scorponok up to contend. He's a little over powered too...
So... back on the varied Englished series... theres Marvels leader of decepticons following the underbase incident or IDWs criminal scientist who is likely the mysterious figure currently acting as puppeteer to the Machination.
IDWs Scorponok for the win.

Re: Metroplex vs Trypticon vs Fortress Maximus vs Skorponok...
i think trypticon should be able to win, but wont. hes based off a t rex, which had the strongest bite force of any animal, ever. but trypticon never tried to bite anything. he always fought like a fat man with no arms, just barging into stuff. metroplex vs trypticon should have been like a normal person against a t rex their size. they might be able to avoid it for a while, but as soon as it bites their arm, their down an arm. if it bites their torso, their missing half a torso. ill never know why he was so useless in the show.
anyway, ill go with scorponok, mostly because of the shockwave fight. if he has the kind of power it takes to go toe to toe with shockwave, he deserves to win.

Metroplex produces some antimatter and blows up half the continent. He wins ... posthumously.
