Huh, ok. But do they start down or up in packaging? They also are down in vehicle mode.

Would you please elaborate on this? I also thought the hood/chest had to flop in robot mode.

The roof has a swivel you need to adjust upwards and lift so it locks into place in these grooves behind the hood.

I just realized that most of the transformation design for the Studio Series Voyager Class Optimus Prime was taken from the Prime: First Edition Voyager Class Optimus Prime.

As for Soundwave...
I think I may have discovered what that weird Platinum Edition - Year Of The Goat: Masterpiece Soundwave toy is based on, but I could be wrong.
G-2 Megatron's dead friend Kiloton
It's close... But not exactly perfect. Obvious differences being the chest and head. There's still no explaining his Cassettetron's colours.
I know Ask Vector Prime already declared Kiloton's toy to be the Micro Change MC-11 Gun Robo S&W Magnum 44, but the colours on this particular Soundwave work a bit better, in my opinion. What do you think?

I've only had blot for a couple days, but this probably counts! The little holes where his fist connects to his arm are just the right size for PotP Swoop's sword - and probably other weapons - to connect! The little holes in his backpack seem to work as well. I'll have to test this out with Cutthroat's blaster and legion class weapons, it's surprising how cross-compatible this guy actually is.
Rushing in where Hasbro fears to tread (for now)...

Everyone seems to do PotP feet like this...

But I think it might actually be meant to go like this:

(And even if it's not how they were meant to go, they sill look better that way.)

Strongly disagree. First, it is decidedly not how they were meant to go. Just compare your Abominus foot to this:

You've literally got it backwards. The end with the socket is very solidly intended as the heel (while the end that sticks out farther past the peg is the top and toe) particularly since attaching the smaller Prime Armor as an extension is optional (and if you do, it's generally the heel that needs extending for balance reasons).
Second, I don't think it looks better. I think it looks clunky, backwards, and awkward, especially when there are distinct toes on the other end.

They're not "distinct toes", they're gun barrels, and it's not like it's abnormal for Transformers to have stuff sticking out of the back of their foot. Hell, some guys with beast modes (such as BH Twinstrike and the original BW Cheetor) literally have feet sticking out the back of their feet, and I don't think that's ever been a problem. And while the "right" way may mimic the detailing, it certainly doesn't match the broad, flat profile of the original feet, which I consider far more important aesthetically. If you like skinny ballerina feet on your combiners, so be it, but that's not how I roll.

The Volcanicus feet (which were used in Abominus' art) do have toes, and the protrusions on the Seeker feet can be considered such as well. The Abominus ones are just solid triangular feet, no toes, and the gun barrels... Predaking's they're not.

In the PotP topic we had some discussion on this and it was brought up at least once (I think twice) on the Twincast Podcast. The general consensus is that the PotP combiners are much more stable with the feet backwards since the combiners are pretty front heavy with their arms forward while the position of the peg is enough to keep them from falling back. In other words they really need more toe than heel and spinning the feet around really solves that problem nicely. Plus some people prefer color matched feet for an added bonus.

^But spinning them around makes the feet look like they're different colors on everyone but Volcanicus. Or did you mean color-matched to the individual limbs?
These are what I was talking about - Volcanicus' feet have what are undeniably toes, and the Starscream combiner feet have claw toes meant to evoke Movie Starscream's toes.
If the overall general shape combined with the position of the ankle peg weren't evidence enough, the toes on Volcanicus' and the detail comparison to Abominus' G1 feet clinch that there is a definite way the designers meant these to be pointing. And I think that way looks better and makes them look more like feet.

Yes, color matched to the limb. Though people also complained when Takara Tomy did it with Unite Warriors Bruticus so...

Fair enough. The only PotP figures I own right now are Wreck-Gar and Hun-Grrr (been a cruddy year for me in terms of disposable income), so I wasn't thinking about Volcanicus's feet. And the feet shown in Abominus's art also have spikes sticking up, like you'd get from pointing the hand pieces forward, so that's where I got mixed up. Thanks for being civil about it.
I'll admit my way is wrong, but I still prefer the results.
