Good observation. Don't you find it falls out often, though? I do (I have the Hasbro two-pack edition).
No, it hasnt fallen out, its got a good grip on the sword. Maybe cos the Hasbro swords are that floppy plastic? I have the Galaxy Force ( the proper Galaxy Force not the Hasbro repaint ) version. Vector Prime remains one of my top figures for robot looks.
My sword holder gimmick is Tight! My sword never fall of by itself.
Naw, I have that problem sometimes too.
I liked the Headmaster/Powermaster/Targetmaster gimmick. I often imagine that the minicons from Armada are just extensions of the Nebulons from G1.
I also liked the G1 Ultra Magnus gimmick: the armor coming from his trailor. I had so much fun with him as a kid in all his different possible modes. Ah, to not have to worry about a mortgage...
*sigh*
Just me then.
Gimmicks that are GOOD.

I would like to see a new take on the Headmasters and have the head being the personality meaning:
Back in G1 it was explained the heads were Nebulans and the bots personalities downloaded to there chests when tyhe heads came off
My idea is to have the head be the whole package and when these autobots who are human size transform into heads they then would reattach to there real bodies

Well, I didn't even register the 'new text' in my post.
Since you mention it, I consider the Minicons as extensions of the Nebulans as well. As a child, I used to use the Nebulans and the Micromasters as the same race.
Micromasters were a decent enough idea, if only so it meant I could safely take some Transformers to school.

As a child I was in love with Galvatron's lights and sounds. To this day, I still use them for the nostalgia.

I Don't think I'd want it in all the figures, but an automatic transforming function, like on Galaxy Force Nitro Convoy (I forget the cybertron name) where his head and arms are spring loaded and flip out when you press a button. I'm interested to see if the auto-transform they're doing for the movie toys impedes pose/play-ability.

You just might be the only person ever to like that feature.

Amen to that.
Transformers is one of the most under-rated lines for articulation... Everything else seems to tout "super poesable" or "X number of joints" on the box, but Transformers have been there since the days of the Cyberjets. Hell, even a number of LoC and Minicon size figures can hold a nice pose.
Man, I wasn't expecting this thread to get the response it did...
For some reason, I have an odd fondness for spinning propellers on helicopter transformers. Bulkhead and Evac did it pretty nicely... It annoys me when the chopper blades are uneven.
I also like the whole "hidden weapon" thing, a la Beast Wars or Alternators. Glad to know I'm not alone.

Didn't the old G1 boxes say on the front, "Now with three points of articulation!"
At least I imagine they did until someone wrote to Hasbro saying they found the Robot Points on the back but not the points of articulation.

Soundwave's cassettes. By far. Combinders were also awesome, and I have a thing for Micromasters, too. The autotransform feature that a couple machine wars figures have are cool too.
I don't really like headmasters though. If you lose the Nebulan, you're left with pretty much a useless toy. I have enough headless Headmasters, thanks.

I loved this "mouth plate" gimmick when it first came out on Armada Prime. MP-05/20th Ann./DVD Prime's size has made this gimmick flourish.

Gen 1 Megatron firing bullets - not only is Megatron a bloody accurate pistol but you can actually terrorise your child/pet/better half with him! Heck this is one thing the original figure has over his Masterpiece release!
Powerful spring missile launchers - the original series of figures had them until Hasblo neutered them
Cassetticons/Cassettibots also deserve a mention as they added a sub army for Soundwave and Blaster. On the same subject - the 'hidden' plans for Scorponok and Fort Max on Twincast and Soundblaster's cassettes was a nice touoch
Rub signs - I can't believe no-one else has mentioned them! I really like the clone ones.
Now I'm spent...

Both the Autobot and Decepticon clone figures had two sets of rub signs. One being their fraction symbol and the second being their alternative form. Such as the puma or eagle on the Decepticon ones.

For one, I don't think they wanted to compoun d the difficulty of selling a toy gun by making it fire (also it's effectively impossible given how the toy is designed). Also, if they just put the firing in the scope, it would eliminate the see-through gimmick of it.

They'd rather leave that up to the realistic looking TFC version to fire plastic pellets.
