Go Vote, America.
- Weapon: Diffraction Sword
I don't care who you're voting for, nor should this thread be used for political/election flaming. Republican, Democrat, Green, Libertarian, Constitution, or Independent, it doesn't matter. This is your chance to contribute. Just because your candidate has little chance of winning, or even if you think they're a sure thing, don't stay home today. Get off your ass and send your government a message.

Voted already this morning. It was rather easy too, as only the presidential and one house spot had more than one person running for them.
There were about 8 positions that only had a Democrat running, which I thought was a little weird, since I voted 4 years ago, just about every position available had two or more running.

Re: Go Vote, America.
Voted last Thursday. Supposedly, 64% of our state's registered voters voted early this year.
If that's true, that's spectacular.

Voted after waiting in line for 35 minutes standing next to a window where the sun was shining through. My God, I know what ants feel like when you burn them with a magnifying glass.

Dammit, CP, you hafta tell us when you're gonna do something like that, so we can vote for you and boost your odds!
I voted this morning. We had 5 items on our ballot here. President, two Senators, two district supervisor local authority things. Strangely enough, one of our Senators (Thad Cochran) was running unopposed. I shouldn't be surprised, he's been in Congress in one house or the other since I was a kid.

I've never really paid attention to elections before, but this confuses me
* December 15, 2008: Members of the U.S. Electoral College meet in each state to cast their votes for President and Vice President.
* January 8, 2009: Electoral votes officially tallied before both Houses of Congress. Members of Congress may object to the certification of a state's electoral votes at this time.
Does that mean we won't know who the president will be until january 8th?

Re: Go Vote, America.

It just means Congress has til January 8th to object to the reported numbers. The election will be called long before then, probably tonight or early tomorrow morning. If, by January 8th, Congress feels something is wrong in how the electoral votes were allocated, then they can say so. After January 8th, it's too late to object and Candidate X will be President.
(So, if you're going to rig an election, all you have to do is go undetected til after January 8th)

Thank you for clarifying. I felt stupid asking that, but I've honestly just never cared enough. Sadly, I wasn't able to vote today. By the time I realized the address on my registration wasn't up to date it was to late to change it.

Voted this morning before going to work. Warner has won the Senate Seat in VA, no surprise there. Too close to call regarding the presidential race.
I sincerely hope that this is not a repeat of the 2000 election - and that Virginia isn't the guilty party this time around.

And I SO wanted to vote this year too!

Ah well, the guy I wanted or The Big Kahuna got in, so I am happy!
