well, looks like nobody here called it right (say what you will, cujo, you predicted jessica just like me). hell, i forgot simone even existed when i was thinking of characters to kill off. meh. oh, and the bus driver was quite random, so much so that i'm still trying to decide what i think of them throwing him in there like that.
on the plus side, the scene where peter and mr. invisible got ambushed by claire's dad kicked ass. in fact, peter kicks ass in general now that he's in control of his powers, although i could see that causing problems in the future. i really hope he gets some sort of reasonable limit put on his abilities, so that there's still a reason for the other characters to stick around. the show's called "heroes," after all, and it would really suck if one character ends up being able to do everything alone.
another major positive was the scene where claire confronted her dad. it was done perfectly, and did a great job of reaffirming her position as my favorite character and storyline on the show. and of course, the ending at the bennet house promises a spectacular continuation.

Great episode!!!!
I too would have liked to see Stan Lee get a more signifigant cameo. He is, after all, The Man.
I TOTALLY didn't see Simone dying... But it looks like Hiro's going to be going on without Ando, so I was half (a quarter??) right at least.
Peter's going totally badass.
I think/hope he can only use one power at a time though, because he has to focus on the character he got the abilities from. You know... I had been wondering if Peter would be able to mimic Sylar's stolen powers, since they're not really natural. In a way, they have similar powers, which involves taking them from others--they're like opposite sides of the same coin. I have a hunch, though, that it will come down to a knock-down drag-out battle between the two when the time finally comes for Sylar to be defeated. Man, what a battle that will be!

there was one thing that didn't make sense in the episode: why was sylar getting the headaches and having trouble controlling what his super hearing picked up? his power to understand how things work should have granted him perfect control of the power, like it has with the other ones he's stolen. could he have a limit on the number of powers he can possess?

I think so, there have been a few scenes aver the last few weeks involving him having headaches after stealing someones powers. And I've been thinking that myself. There is something there, maybe he has a limit, maybe one or more of the people he stole parts of thier brain is fighting back ,don't know yet.

That was a cool episode! The last few have been pretty good, but this was definitely one of the better ones.
Next week look's awsome. The new girl sounds like she has some really cool powers. Reminds me of Ghost in the Shell a little bit, how they can wirelessly go into the net, and don't even need a computer(least the major could).
I expect a bigger role from Stan Lee next week. I seriously doubt they would bring him in for a split second cameo, since this isn't a Marvel franchise. I look at it the same way as George Takei. He got a small shot at the end of an episode, but had a larger role the next week. I figure Stan will give Hiro a pep talk on what being a hero is all about to restore his confidence.
As for Sylar's powers, hmm.
I think he bit off a bit more than he could chew when he took on super hearing. Hearing is something we do automatically, and can't really control. We can focus and block out sounds, but it's not something we can turn off. So maybe that's why he can't control his new power. Or perhaps he's gaining too many powers, and can't keep them all in check.

Anybody else notice this episode seemed to be done in a different style from the others? They didn't have that narrater guy explain the "previously on Heroes" flashbacks, nor did Mohindar narrate the beginning and end.

Were you not listening when the woman explained it? I'm thinking this might be the beginning of Sylar's downfall.

yeah, but as i said, due to his power of understanding how everything works he should have had perfect control over it, like he did when he stole his other powers. the question is why is he having trouble controlling this one, when he didn't with any of the others?

This seems to be the only power he stole so far that could hurt the person using it. It also seems that Sylar can improve the powers he steals, like after he stole his first power, telekentics, the person he stole it from could barely use it right, but Sylar could easily cause stuff to go flying right afterwards. So though he might have a bit of control, the fact that he might even have hearing even greater then the woman, it might take him a bit longer to get used to it. I think he'll be fine in the long run, just that the current side effects might tip Mohindar off. The fact that Sylar doesn't think about the side effects of stealing a power, might hurt him again as well.

Just because you understand how something works, doesn't nescessarily mean that it's easily controlled. I have a full understanding of physics and geometry and I still can't play pool worth crap. It makes perfect sense to me that Sylar would have a learning curve with some of the powers he picks up and I'm glad the writers did it that way. Besides, from what the woman said, this power doesn't seem to be something that really can be controlled or shut off.

STILL think this show's in a downward spiral, Chosen!?
Tonights episode gave us little information that we didn't already know, but it was done in a way that made us feel like we found everything out! Mwahahaha!
Interesting twist though, that Hiro's dad is somehow connected to the project.

Oh, certainly not. I never bothered to mention it here, but the previous two episodes were definitely pulling it out of its earlier rut. This one was gold, not because of what it revealed in the show's plot, but more because it managed to humanize Bennett and show him in a much better light.

I'm starting to get into this show. I think I've seen about 1/2 the episodes this season. I suck at learning character names in TV shows so my review is limited.
I really liked tonight's episode. It was pretty dramatic. I can't make out what to think about the girl's Dad. I'm not a big fan of the Torch-wannabee. I like the Cheerleader chick ... that's been my favorite storyline that's been going on. I'm not a big fan of the telepathy guy. I don't think he's that great of an actor for whatever reason. I thought the same thing about him when he appeared in an episode on Fox's House M.D. (probably my new favorite show since I haven't been able to follow Smallville this season sadly).
I also can't help but feel bad for Marvel Comics that they didn't get a mutant show on TV before Heroes came out. This could have been big for them. Whoops!
I can't wait to buy Heroes on DVD this fall so that I can get properly caught up to speed with everything that's going on.

I agree. The backstory in tonight's episode was great. It certainly helps fill in some of the mystery.

as i've said before, claire's storyline has been my favorite throughout the series. if done wrong, it could very easily feel hokey, but the actors and writers have done a phenomenal job of keeping it genuine and original. this episode was a perfect example of that - at the ending, you could feel every bit of both claire's and her dad's emotion. i pray this won't be the last time they're together (i'm sure it won't), because their relationship is one of my favorite things about the show. i can't wait to see where they go from here, because as far as i'm concerned this episode was damn near perfect.

Last time that I checked, NBC had episodes online for viewing, no reason to wait until a DVD is released.
Last night's episode was needed. It gave us SOME answers we wanted to know, but still left enough questions to make the series interesting.
What will Bennett's group do now that they can't change everyone's memory??? Or was the organization not aware of this and Bennett was doing this to save the lives of super-powered folks??
I thought having Sulu be in with 'the corporation' was a nice twist that I had not predicted. Also, having monsieur invisible man being a part of it was cool too. Apparently, Bennett helped him get away too, or was that an actual accident??
Good stuff.

Really, really good episode last night. I think it was the first episode to revolve around a single storyline, and that's why it was so cool.
The lady who's online all the time was working for the corporation. Bit of a surprise, but not all that shocking.
And next week Hiro gets his sword! And Spider-Man 3 gets an exclusive trailer. I say again, Stan Lee will give Hiro a talk on what it is to be a hero, cause they would not bring him in for a single line.

Don't feel bad for them. It was called Mutant X and it was craptacular.
Here's proof that the casting (for supporting/guest roles) is pure genius:
"We need a super-creepy guy."
"How 'bout Eric Roberts?"
Frickin' brilliant!

I just realized that no one commented on a very important revalation in the preview for next week's episode: Simone's alive! She didn't die almost two weeks ago! False advertising NBC! And it does stink that they revealed it in the preview, would have made for a nice suprise in the episode itself next week.

All reasons why I don't think she's really going to be resurrected. My money's on it being a dream sequence or something like that.

...Spoilers I guess...
I should have mentioned it earlier but a local morning show interveiwed the actress and she seemed to hint that Simone did have some sort of power. I think she's either immortal or has the power to resurrect herself (or perhaps others, who knows) from the dead. The morning show hosts, for some reason, thought that she might be able to live on as a ghost, which I guess is a possibility.
There's also another preview on another show that Nathan helps Hiro get the sword somehow. They meet in Las Vegas at least.

Being in Canada I got to watch the show last night and instead of giving it all away I am just going to say
"Watch this episode and cry because you have to wait until April to find out what happens next."
Seriously, the cliffhanger is brutal.

Thanks for the warning. Going in knowing it'll be a cliffhanger is better then being surprised.
