I liked it, but had some similar misgivings.
I wish Harrison Ford would not grow old. He and Bruce Willis need to be around to be able to make action movies for a long time.
It was cool to hear about all of Indy's adventures as a government agent. I assume there will be more on this in some other media format.
Wanted Sallah, and Marcus. I know the actor who played Brody is recently deceased, and I thought that they did a nice job paying tribute to him in the movie with the giant portrait, and statue. Jon Ryes Davies must be too busy...And of course, if Connery would have been in it, well, I think it would have helped to make Harrison Ford look younger.
The motorcycle in the quad scene was among my favorites. That was classic INDY stunts, and dialogue.
Shia as the next Indy... Not sure I want to see this come to fruition.
I was put off by the overwhelmingness of the alien conspiracy. It started to feel X-Files-ish, and not Indy adventurous.
Did not like the ants. They were just-- a way to get rid of baddies, I suppose--
Overall, a worthy movie experience. Some surprises, some old cliches, some nice ties to new and old.

Just got back from it and it was a good film, but there was this overall feeling that made it less like the other Indy's. I can't really explain it, even to myself, but it is more to do with the visuals of the film rather than anything else. I know that it has been ten years since an Indy film was made and, therefore, things have changed in the film industry, but that doesn't mean that everything had to be so bright and colorful. Even the scenes at night or in the pyramid seemed to be to bright and colorful for an Indy flick.
All-in-all, it was a good film, but I'm glad that it is the last and definitely glad that Ford grabbed the hat at the end from Shia.
P.S.: I know that films are shot out of sequence, but I still hated it when Indy asked Mud if he has a knife to cut open the mummy wrapping. Instead of "Do you have a knife?" it should have been "Give me your knife."

I liked the movie...but theres 1 little ? that bothers me.How could Henry Jones Sr. be dead, after all both he and Indy did drink from the Holy Grail.
I thought the powers of the grail made whom ever drank from it immortal. remember what the knight said in the last crusade "the true grail will give life...while the false grail will take it."

It could be that the you need to drink from the Holy Grail every once in awhile to have immortality as in The Last Crusade it is mentioned one of the three knights died of extremely old age. So Henry Jones Sr. could have died from old age having not drank from the Holy Grail since 1938, though he could have suffered an injury that could have killed him and the Holy Grail just doesn't heal future injuries unless the water from the cup is poured on the wound or drank by the person.
Maybe the novelization or Ultimate Guide elaborates on Henry Jones Sr.'s death, or another novel will mention it.
"What are you?" That's what the woman asked me. Am I some sort of ghost? I still move. I still breathe. I'm still alive.

Yeah you could only be immortal in that cave
Why do you think the Knight never left after 700 years ...besides protecting the grail

I just saw it yesterday. And I have to agree with some of the points brought up Senor Hugo.
The Monkey scene, with Mutt was just totally out of left field.
The Refrigerator scene is just a little too much. A Nuclear explosion would melt the fridge and leave Indy looking like Han solo in Carbonite.
The entire ending was too much. I mean I bought it up until the Crystal skeletons. The entire alternate dimension and stuff was just a little too much. Although I know its technically accurate to the new quantum Physics, and Spaces within Space theory but still does not work for Indy.
The other thing I kept wondering about is where the heck did all those natives come from. I mean they were breaking out of the rock for Pete's sake. Where they like preserved there for thousands of years only to awaken when trespassers are near?
Overall it was a fun movie and was a good installment of the Indy films. But there where just a couple things that just don't work well with Indy.
I did like the small Cameo by the Ark there.
I was also expecting Mutt to answer "Don't call me Jr." When Indy calls him that.
Not too bad, but still could have been a bit better.

Ok..
We saw it Friday night and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
My only complaint is the same as a good percentage of the others..
Too much silliness.
The groundhogs and Mutt haired monkeys could have been omitted and left on the cutting room floor.
To those that say that the “aliens” are a stretch for an Indy movie and not very “believable” (as I have read on a couple of fan reviews around the web) I say this…
Is it any less believable than an ark that releases “ghosts” which destroy the Germans, Stones which empower someone to rip hearts out (and other various things) and allow the person to continue living OR a Grail night that is still living after 700 years..
I think the majority seem to have problems with heavy Sci Fi elements making their way into an Indiana Jones movie.

Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

Indeed. However, with Lara Croft, and National Treasure, I think Indy has kind of lost control of the 'tomb raiding' collector market. In fact, National Treasure had only recently done their own 'City of Gold' search, and it seemed very similar...
Poor Indy, gettin' too old to be able to beat the competition. Gotta love all of Lara's gadgets--and other obvious attributes.
Wouldn't that be a fun crossover? Indy, Lara, and Nick Cage's character from National Treasure. The doofy sidekicks could be the ones to save them all by working together... Kind of sounds like an episode of THE TICK that I remember.

True, but I am not the one complaining about it.
I actually enjoyed the movie and how the sci fi element was brought to the table..

Actually, that's my one major nitpick of the movie, the fridge. I never thought about the melting part, it's just that it flew through the air at a very high speed and then crashed into the ground and bumped around several times, and Indy walks out relatively unscathed. That kinda goes outside my realm of plausability, but eh, it's a movie.
Otherwise, while I will agree it's the weakest, it's still a very fun movie that will stand up to repeated viewings. Also, I like how they took Indy in a different direction by addressing psychics and extra-terrestrials, so at the very least it does something new to move the franchise foward instead of treading on what had already been done.
4/5,it will definitely be a classic when that shiny new smell wears off.

I was very disappointed in this movie. I was really looking forward to it. I had even bought the rerelease of the original trilogy a week or so ago. It wasn't a bad movie. It just wasn't a great movie either. I think it will be a wonderful movie for families to go to. Me? I think I had much more fun watching Star Wars: The Phanton Menace. I never once felt "excited" or "intrigued" or "amazed" at anything in this movie, which I generally come to expect from summer blockbusters. I also felt a lot of the movie was extremely unbelievable. Part of me kept waiting for Scully and Mulder to show up, another part of me kept waiting for Lara Croft, and another part of me kept hoping it'd all be a dream of Jodi Foster from Contact. I love Harrison Ford. I just think this movie would have been best left in our imaginations.

The Indiana Jones Press Coverage
CNN.com (AP)
"Resurrecting Indy took more than a decade of debate, disagreement and compromise among the film's three principals, Spielberg and Ford disliking a way-out-there initial idea Lucas had.
"It was the three of us, Steven, George and I, coming to agreement on the central notion of it all," Ford said. "I think the original idea is still a large piece of it in the movie, but it's been developed and worked on in ways that made it a lot more palatable to Steven and I."
Though the filmmakers have been tightlipped on the plot, the era -- 1957 instead of the 1930s -- and the trailer's image of a crate marked "Roswell, New Mexico, 1947," imply aliens are involved. Roswell is where UFO buffs claim an alien spaceship crashed in 1947.
Just as the first three Indy flicks were inspired by the supernatural B-movies of the 1930s, Lucas conceded he took his cue for the new film from the equivalent of the 1950s, when B-movies centered on extraterrestrial menace.
Just how far "Crystal Skull" might venture into "E.T." territory remains to be seen, though it clearly was not as far as Lucas wanted..."

Good find.
I guess we should be glad that the ET bit was what it was in the film. Otherwise we probably would have had Indy meet up with Jar Jar.

HAHA, thank you =P You gave me a laugh-attack, and made me fall off the chair laughing at the Jar Jar Binks thing xD
Anyways, now to the serious thing: Is the 4th movie any good? I've always liked the original 3 movies, especially when Sean Connery is starring as his father. Sean Connery & Harrison Ford = WIN.
And the 4th movie has to be pretty damn good to beat the originals, something I doubt.

After seeing that...I feel violated.
Was he trying to cross over into Close Encounter of a Third Kind? Thats the only logic I can put behind it. Me and my friends waited til after the film to see if lucas came on screen and apologzied, or said "i was jk here's the real thing."
But alas, no such thing.
