should i go for G1 colored starscream (when the shops get one here) or go for the one they have in shops now, the regular one?

Regular. G1 and movie shouldn't mix, with the possible exception of Jazz.

Then again, I would stay away from that figure mold altogether - do you have Leader Megatron? I'd be happy with him. That, or Thundercracker also looks pretty cool.

Depends if you want a more movie accurate figure or one that's more of a G1 homage. If getting one only I'd personally go for the original.
