...tell me about it, i just bought both soundwaves and have preorders in for the clear mirage and vf-1j max. Throw mp skywarp into the mix and september is gonna be an expensive month...

Well I remember on the first release of the Y 1/60th VF-0S there were some issues about some of the tail spike's on the tail fins were getting snapped off or bent. Luckily mine came in prestine order, however it had loose arms
.
Thats why I kind of want to get the upcomming VF-0S with Ghost booster so I can have a better version of the 0S that can stand. I will put the Ghost Booster on my original and keep it in fighter mode.

Just look at it this way. It's not broken it's a production error variant. That's what I tell myself about my MP Starscream with two of the same face and my VF-1J that came with two left skeletal hands.

so I tinkered a bit with the ghost booster last night, turns out all the parts needed for the drone version are included and it`s a neat little jet.

Ghost Booster is from which series and performs what purpose? It's not the 'ghost' unmanned ship in PLUS, is it?

it`s not the X-9 no but it IS an ancestor to it. the QF-2200D-B Ghost Booster is a small drone combat plane that is used in Macross Zero. it can link up to a VF-0 as a predecessor to the FAST packs of the VF-1 series of valkyries.tigertracks 24 wrote:Black Arachnis wrote:so I tinkered a bit with the ghost booster last night, turns out all the parts needed for the drone version are included and it`s a neat little jet.

cool ACS.me, I`m sticking to my 1/60 VF-1J Super Max. too small an apartment for a 1/48 collection and it`ll allow me to make a smal airforce in valkyries with all recent new molds being 1/60 releases and all...and no offense to people preferring 1/48's but...I highly doubt we`ll see anything but VF-1's in that scale...maybe a VF-5000 if they ever get round to it. it seems the only valkyrie small enough not to be cumbersone in transformation.

Stupid Question Alert:
G1 style Yamato "Skyfire/Jetfire" - any toys that resemble that one?
Plastic models that one assembles and break easily isn't what I'm looking for; me and my kids (carefully) enjoy our figures.
I see there are a lot of truly awesome Macross models out there, but I'm not sure what a good option is. I'm okay with a toy that only dad can handle; I'm not okay with display-pieces I can't handle and move through the rigors of transformation.
Links appreciated guys, I love links and never mind research once pointed a direction.

well...colorschemewise the closest would be the 1/48 DYRL VF-1S Strike Hikaru version...otherwise...any old VF-1S with FAST or Strike packs would suffice.

I'm not interested in color - even something drastically different, as long as it's the approximate size, is "that kind" of mecha, and can handle normal play, by which I mean "only Dad touches, but transforms, moves limbs and plays with kids."
For example, this would be perfect:
Preferably something that won't kill a father of four's wallet, but I understand if there just isn't anything - please link away.
Edit:
Hot damn, guys, lookit:
Where can I buy figures like that? Those are almost all sold out. Price is scary.
Edit 2:
These prices are killing me. Is there anything sub $100?
Edit 3:
This teaches me a lot more about these toys...
TMTDNR
My 2.5yo son has over 20 Knock-Offs already (Big Lots yay!) so he stopped getting upset over the few that weren't his by the third day; sharing isn't an easy thing for any child to learn but something they all have to. I let him sit in my lap and hold Mirage while we watch the G1 cartoon sometimes. My daughters are similar, though my 10yo bought herself Optimus Prime (Classics Voyager), and noooobody but Daddy gets to touch that, per her wishes. *chuckles* Can't blame her, what's her 5yo sister going to do, buy her another if it breaks?

well...the Yamato`s are fairly complex and "fragile"(it depends on how you handle them, all my valkyries are fine)if you were to allow a child to play with it, I`d go for a Bandai reissue VF-1S with super packs.same toy as Jetfire only newer.however...with the exception of the Toynami 1/100's and the Banpresto`s, you can forget getting them below $100 MISB.

Yes, the Banpresto's are only 5 or 6 inches tall, but affordable.
The $125 dollar behemouths, plus $50 for a booster / FAST / strike pack, are something you put on a shelf. Sad that, for all that money, they aren't more durable than your description.
Happen to know an online store you trust to buy Banprestos from?

I would strongly recommend staying away from the Banprestos if these are for children. They are extremely flimsy and don't hold a pose. The 1/100 scale Toynami's while a bit more, are much more durable and can hold a pose. Also the Toynami's have a better joint system so if something pops off 9 times out of 10 it's not broken. You might get lucky and find a Bandai reissue for under $100 but I doubt it. I know BBTS sells a KO Valkyrie that is black with the Jetfire head. Also I've seen carded Jetfire KO's around the net so you could try one of those.

Yea the banpresto was good when it was the only one out there. I would go with the Toynami 1/100's they are far superior. And they will be coming out in the future with fast packs.
The KO you are refering to comes from Happy Well (the makers of Roadbots). You can see the KO Valk "Galaxy Defenders" here.
