Re: Ninja Turles crossover (80s Turtles meet the current generation)
This...is a very weird concept. This is going to be direct to DVD right?
Truth be told, I gave the 2003 Turtle's series a shot when it first came on. Wasn't too impressed with it. For whatever reason, it just didn't feel like the Turtles I grew up with, but that might be because I remembered the video games more than the show, what with all the mutants, Rocksteady and Bebop, and robot foot soldiers.
Then last year I got the first and third volumes of the 80's Turtles series. Musta been rose colored glasses I was wearing, cause the episodes weren't as great as I remembered. However, I recognized they had a certain charm about them.
This week I picked up Season 8 (cause it was $10, kind of an impluse buy), and while still not that great, still had that certain charm about them.
So while I'm still in a Turtleish mood, I might give the 2003 series another shot, or get the original reprinted TPB they released recently.
One thing though, it says Tokka and Rahzar are from in the 2003 series. Which season was that in ? If it's out on DVD, it might be the one I pick up. That, or the movie box set, cause I've still not seen TMNT.
All in all, I'm definitely intrigued.

They're not. New 2003-styled versions of them will be "introduced" in this movie special.Duke of Luns wrote:One thing though, it says Tokka and Rahzar are from in the 2003 series. Which season was that in ?
As for the whole "1987 cartoon vs. 2003 cartoon" deal, check out this YouTube guy comparing concepts from both series to each other and deciding which versions of each he likes better.
Part 1-1: Introduction and history
Part 1-2: Round 1 - Theme Songs, Round 2 - Action, Round 3 - Comedy
Part 2-1: Round 5 - The Turtles (disregard Round 4)
Part 2-2: Round 6 - Supporting Characters
Part 2-3: Round 6 continued
Part 3-1: Round 7 - The Villains
Part 3-2: Round 7 continued
Part 3-3: Round 7 continued
Part 3-4: Round 7 continued (not on YouTube, but still the same guy)
Part 4 isn't done yet, he says, but it should be coming soon.

Cool analysis and comparison. I'm watching my way through. The apparent denial of the original comics by some TMNT fandom is pretty silly.

I think, for once, I have to agree with Matt Moylan's assesstment of this. (Though not so much that it's ruined without the original voice actors) I mean, the 2003 cartoon wasn't exactly Kill Bill, but it was still pretty dark and gritty for a kids show, a kids show on 4 Kids TV no less. And, if I remember, the original series was much more kid-oriented than recent shows and movies. So I think we should make a Seibertron pool; How many "Cowabungas" until 2003 Raph loses it and tosses the old turtles off a building?

Hmm. Well, that makes this even odder, but very welcome. What can I say, I loved it when the Turtles fought mutants in the old show, and Tokka and Rahzar were cool in the second film, so that's why it's my fave of the original trilogy.
Thanks for the youtube links. I'm still on *irk* dial-up, so I'll have to watch them when I can, cause they take seemingly forever to load.
Decided I'm definitey getting the Turtles movie four pack today, if it's still there. My Wal-Mart has a habit of only having some things for a very short time, and then disapearing, while other things linger forever.

I love both shoes in different ways. Because i was at different ages for both. In My 20s when the 2003 was around. And 6-12 for the old one.
I just wish the remaining episodes from the 2003 show go onto boxset soon god damn it. And they have taken there sweet ass time getting to season 8 of the old show. And they had better release the summer vacation episode and any other specials or episodes ive missed from the old series off the top of my head.

I thought the 80's turtles and 2003 to present turtles were the same just older so it makes no sense since if they met wouldn't they just destroy each other in that all to familar time paradox were two being can't live in the same time at the same place without destroying each other.

Wrong. They are not the same at all. Completely different continuities. It's like if G1 met RiD, or Armada, or Animated.shortround wrote:I thought the 80's turtles and 2003 to present turtles were the same just older so it makes no sense since if they met wouldn't they just destroy each other in that all to familar time paradox were two being can't live in the same time at the same place without destroying each other.

I don't know why I but I kinda preferred the new 2003 version to the previous shows, although I really loved the original 80's show. Maybe cos Mickey said "My Turtle sense is tingling" in the episode with the mousers.

After having just rewatched a few episodes of the 80s series, I take back everything I said about wanting them back. It was much better in my memory than reality.
What really puts me off about the new series though, is the alien Shredder. I like Shredder much more as a human even if he is comically inept.

Nope the TMNT show ceased airing over here when the channel that broadcast it decided that it needed that timeslot for more Pokemon reruns.

Yes I did. It was the true Season 5 that was missing between season 4 and Fast Forward. And I loved every moment of it!Name_Violation wrote:Did anyone else see the "lost episodes" of the new turtles? thay were hella good.

*SPOILERS*
It was the most "InuYasha-esque" version of the Turtles I've ever seen. I LOVED the Tengu demon Shredder. Probably the most diabolical of the four Shredders to appear in the show.
I especially loved the dragon fight in the finale, and how the golden spirit of Hamato Yoshi came out in the end a finished off the Shredder demon by brutally slicing him in half. Epic!
I also liked how they had a little more "freedom of speech" in this season, as opposed to the others. While still not using "death", "die", or "kill" very much, I liked how they used such phrases as "Burn, demon!" when fighting enimies in this season.
*END OF SPOILERS*
Overall, it was a season that left me wanting more. MUCH more.

Yes, it was released on May 20, 2008 in a boxed set titled "Ninja Tribunal". It included the final episode of season 4 and the entire fifth season. Here's a list of all the DVD releases.Hotrod wrote:Has the lost season ever been release on DVD?

Is there going to be more episodes made for 2003 series or is the show done. Cause i ive i recently collected everything that was out on dvd for the show from zellers bargin bins and used stores. Im kinda weird, some shows i like to have the entire series before i begin watching.
