The Dr Who (and spin-offs) Thread *potential spoilers*
- Weapon: Venom Blaster
I liked the nearly Doctor-less episode, but then again, I adored Love and Monsters, too. It watched alot like a well-crafted short story. With the whole time-traveling thing, it's good to see an episode that had time travel as the core of the plot, not just a rationale for the setting.

But it was one of those fun little stories they need before a big one.
Was Love and Monsters last year's doctorless ep? Because that was a bad ep.
But this ep was brilliant. One of the best in the series. When I first realised it would be a doctorless ep, my hopes sank. Glad I was wrong. So very very wrong.
A fine piece of acting and script writing. When the guy looked away for the briefest moment and the angel was that much closer to him with that 'rawr' face, I was slightly on edge. I even felt a little something stir when the cop died. Though I'll be keeping my eyes on those weeping angels statues next time I pass some.

Yeah, I just watched this. The unmoving monster idea is brilliant, and I loved the ending with the statue images.
I also liked the novelty of somebody else being the main protagonist, esp as that somebody else was darned sexy.
By the way....I noticed that the actress who plays Martha played a Torchwood employee that got killed in the season 2 finale 'Doomsday' - I am guessing we are to forget this and it is not anything to do with parallel universes

When he needs a new assistant, I hope she's available, even with her boyfriend.

In her first ep, Martha said her cousin worked for Torchwood. They never heard from her after the Cyberman Invasion. That's who she was reffering to.
Identical cousins. Twins seperated at birth? This could lead into a whole new subplot for Martha.

Also, Martha seemed to be back to her original slef (from what little we saw of her). YAY!!

I was just about holding my breath and I was trying not to blink so I didn't miss anything! That was a great piece of suspense!

Excellent episode. I shat bricks, honestly.
I find it odd that online there's so many people who hold Love & Monsters in such high esteem, especially when the public seemingly abhors it.

I thoroughly enjoyed Blink and watched it twice so far..
While watching it the first time my daughter jumped a couple of times with the angels (especially when he blinked and then it was right there in front of him)..
Brilliant Doctorless episode.

Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

"Don't bring me down"
The sound track was awesome. I liked the little club obsessing about the Doctor, getting a life, and then getting eaten by an alien. Maybe it hit a little uncomfortably close to home for some fans.

It was a fun and quirky episode which also told a tale of the impact The Doctor has on the lives of others. Something that was never really explored before until the new series started, and it's those episodes that I really enjoy.

And why shouldn't we love an episode whose main baddy is a big fat ass whose main power is to absorb people (one of whom ends up directly on his...well, you know) and whose ending implies that our narrator has a sexual relationship with said person, who went from being on an alien's fat ass to a strip of concrete?*

If you'd watched all of the two seasons you'd probably still be wailing.
Look at War Hammer (well don't actually look at him, you'll go blind, and no he can't send you back in time either when you don't look at him), he's hardly been around since Rose left.
I hate you Burn, I hate you so very very much

I'm like a ninja, sometimes you get the feeling one is close to you lurking in the shadows but when you turn around you can't see them. I do troll on here some day but I switch to hidden so people can't see me. I'd post in the HMW forum but to be honest the posts are the same old same old and there's little to choose from.
Anyway, loved this episode. It had an original story line and the baddies were actually quite scary, my niece sat and watched it with me and the g/f. Poor little thing got scared in the end and went into the other room to play.
As soon as the Dr said don't blink don't look away and don't blink I found myself subconsciously trying not to blink, it didn't help with him blinking after he said that line

I'm all for eps that show how the doc impacts the lives of others. Takes a step outside the norm and give us something new. It also gives us an extra ep in the series (the only reason they do the doctorless eps is because they are busy filming other eps in that shooting block). It was just Love and Monsters was a poor ep imho. Blink, and the Torchwood ep Cyberwoman shows we can have eps that deal with the aftermath of a visit from the doc in an exciting, intriguiging, and even a little scary, way.

ahhhh the great Doctor Who debates.
Did Colin Baker destroy Doctor Who?
Was Love and Monsters the greatest or worst episode ever in DW history?
The debate will wage for eons to come.

blink was **** brilliant.
not many shows have the guts to do a story without the main character, and yes it did help sally's a bit of a hottie, but it was very well done. i missed the credits at the begining so can someone tell me who wrote this bacause it was very PJ hammond-ish. in fact it made me think of the saphire and steel episodes concerning the darkness which fed on the loss of potential.
loved the line about how theyre the nicest murderers in the universe what with just tossing you back in time and dying of ageing before your time and tennant is bloody brilliant at switching between ecentricity and genuine concern for the people he used to get his messages to sally. i was a bit worried when david took over but ive forgoten all about eceleston now
all in all a very well written, acted and paced episode. the statues were actually classically horrific in a hitchcockian way. when the nintingale bloke turned around for a secoud turned back and it was inches away from his throat with a ravanous look on its face i practically jumped! very well done and a classic example of whats so good about this series. heres hoping for more of the same
in fact seeing as how well this is being done i cant help wishing someone would cop on and resurrect sapphire and steel

I wasn't a fan of the Love and Monsters ep, so when this one started I didn't have high hopes. But I loved it in the end. Some good lines in this one.
I'm looking forward to Jack's return, but from what I've seen The Doctor is not.

I'm sure they left a line of dialogue out of the preview.
Jack - Doctor
Doctor - Captain
Jack - KISS ME!
Seriously! Take a look at it again and look at the sexual tension between them!

Steven Moffat wrote that. I seem to recall his name attatched to some other quality eps, but I forget which ones.

thanks man, i was looking around elsewhere and found out he's the guy that did the episode of the girl in the fireplace and much more creepy the one in the first series with the kid with the gasmask for his face. now that was freaky.
funniest thing is moffat is the same bloke that came up with coupling in bbc 2 and press gang way back in the late 80s. hard to believe a comedy writer could churn out such amazing horror stories

Both quality eps. I hope he gets to write more eps next year. He should also write the series finale, no dodgy apocalyptic end of the world only to be saved by a crappy ending like RTD has done in the last two.
