The NL West bores the hell out of me
I will let you know by the end of Spring training who might win
Hell I only live about 45 minutes from Legends Feild so I may see a spring training game

read the NFL 2007 thread. its bassicly this except its focused on the pats. and i was alone to defend them
and if i where a betting man (which i am) id say the yankees have another "great" season ahead of them like last year.
my world series picks, The Red Sox vs The Cubs. i like the cubs because the sox were in there shoes a few years ago.

Wow...what a series THAT would be...the New England region versus hundreds of millions of bandwagon Cubs fans who just want to see them win at some point in their lives, unlike the last 6 generations...

And I agree on the Yankees "great" season. They won't make the playoffs....isn't half their pitching rotation on Social Security? (and the other half is on HGH! LOL)
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

Yeah...we won't know if he's pitching this year until July or so....he's almost as bad as Brett Favrevererreve

OK, all I cna do is laugh at this. Not only did he show that he is about all done last year, but Mcnamee is producing syringes to congress with Rogers DNA on the. Forget baseball, he will be spending the summer, like Bonds, on trial for perjury.

I missed that...are you serious??? That's not good at all...what is it with arrogance and greatness...do they always have to go hand and hand? "I'm the greatest so I'm above the law"...Peter Rose, Barry bonds, now Clemens...and don't get me started on the NBA...

its more noticible on bonds. i mean MY GOD, he is scarry lookin. i would hate to see him walking towards me on the street. as for clemans, he is an old fat guy trying to get one more go at it (not that that makes it right) and pete rose...while he'll never get in the MLB hall of fame, he can look back and say "at least im in a wrestling hall of fame"

I see the Twins picked up Livan Hernandez for a 1 year, $5 million contract. This will effectively replace Silva, and hopefully an upgrade. It was hard watching Silva the past couple of years giving up all those runs. I am just hoping that this doesn't equate to what happened last year with Ponson and Ortiz. Hernandez will at least be able to eat up innings and allow their prospects that might not be fully ready to come up and be a starter. Plus he may be trade fodder at the end on the year if they are out of the race. They might be able to trade him to a contending team for couple of prospects if he is doing good. I'm not saying top prospects, just decent ones.

I think there a lot better things congress can do instead of worrrying about Clemens
What do you non Yankee fans think of old George now not running the Yankees and his son Hank has taken over and wants to go with home grown talent?

The Yankees will NOT make the playoffs this year again. I've said it before. Their pitching staff is just too old and bad and their bullpen is a munch of arsonists...they love to burn up leads. You going to rely on an almost 40 y/o Mariano Rivera? Fine but he can only pitch one inning. The Yankees are lucky they have A-Rod...otherwise they'd have virtually no draw. So, yes their season WILL be worse this year than last. And, thanks to George and his great moves in the late 90's and early this decade, they have virtually no prospects in their farm system. A few titles in the 90's may have condemned them to the mediocrity of the 80's for a while to come.
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

Anyone here interested in Fanatasy Baseball?
If so, we have a private league set up on CBS Sportsline.
League name is Seibertron

Still have 5 spots left and the live draft is this Saturday afternoon. Hopefully we will fill up and I will start a thread where we can have some Fantasy game talk.
Hope to see some of you there.

I agree to an extent. Thought the Yanks are year older, they can definately still mash. Their bull pen could go either way again, but the season is gonna come down to the young arms, which is always a bit of a gamble with unproven potential.
I think they battle for the wild card against either Detroit or the Indians, with Boston and the Angels cruising into the playoffs.

Good picthing will beat good hitting any day of the week. It's like the premise that defense wins championships. It the Yanks average 6 runs a game, it won't do any good when they have an ERA of 6.50. They will make a run for the Wild Card but will be sitting at home in October again.

Re: **The Official 2008 MLB Thread**
I doubt the Wildcard will come out of the AL East. The Yankees pitching is suspect but they can still clobber the ball (see Rangers). Rays and Jays will actually cut into the Yanks and Bosox wins. But the Bosox SHOULD win the divsion. 2/3 will be Jays/Yanks followed closely by the Rays.
Wildcard will probably be the Indians with the Tigers and Angels winning their respective divisions.
