Walmart G1 Transformers Toys Reissues Thread
Re: Walmart G1 Transformers Toys Reissues Thread

I am sincerely loving all of the G1 reissues we’ve gotten, and are continuing to get. It’s really exciting. Especially since I just started collecting G1 figures last year. It’s helping to fill in the ranks. I don’t mind at all that my collection is a mix of originals and reissues at all. I’m just hoping that whatever figures are being released from now on are much easier to get than Starscream, and the minibots were. I know some areas had it easier than others. As far as I know my area did not see any reissues. And trying to order through walmart’s website was an awful online shopping experience. There were a few times that figures appeared in stock, went to check out, and they were out of stock. Other times I got my order in, and then days later I got one cancelation for one minibot. The next day a cancelation for another. Then a cancelation for Starscream. Hot Rod was the only easy one to acquire.

Surely this is The Line that HasTak should be thinking of reissues for figures they have never done so before, given Transformers profile couldn't really get much higher than right now.
Slamdance and Squawkbox, Snapdragon and Apeface, Blue Bacchus, the double Targetmasters and perhaps even a nice Raiden boxset?

But then how come all their reissues in this line so far are simply molds that are readily available for using since they were previously reissued by them or Takara?

Fan who grew up with only the cartoon: Who are they? When did they appear?

P.S. Don't answer those questions, I'm well aware who they are, but the casual uninitiated fans may not.
Consider the cassettes bought! Good news is they won't be replacing the Mini-Bots as they have different assortment codes.

The Devastator reissue is the only one I'm missing. I'm really bummed I only saw it in 1 Walmart the weekend before Halloween and never saw it again. Hopefully it has a 2nd run or something.

You know what'd be really awesome? A cartoon accurate "Rumble" and "Frenzy" two pack, or at least a cartoon accurate Rumble with Ratbat or something. Blue Frenzy toy is not a truly accurate "Cartoon" Rumble or Takara cartoon Frenzy. He needs that purplish blue, etc. That would be awesome and funny.
Just to clarify, this would only be awesome if we ended up with the more desirable cassettes first, or if it were a convention exclusive like for SDCC or something. I wouldn't want a niche item to replace a better selling item.

I know your pain. I want that Devastator set too, but have only seen it fleetingly once or twice, way before it went on clearance. Each time, $74 was just too much to drop on it at that time. Now it's just gone from the Twin Cities area, though, mysteriously, some Walmarts still have the sticker on the shelf for it, but haven't stocked it in months.

I'm very pleased with the toy accurate reissues as is (well except those gimped gun barrels on Laserbeak). I don't desire any additional cassettebots, but I wouldn't say no either. They'll all go on the cassettebot shelf.

I agree. If the Mini-Bots are $8~ish then a cassette with two weapons should be worth at least $10 making a 2-pack around $20. There's probably some wiggle room for the price, but definitely not $10 for a 2-pack.
Big Grim wrote:When did Laserbeak's laser get so short?
This was the first thing I noticed. The Classics reissue didn't have them modified, it's a strange thing to do. Frenzy/Rumble have the slightly modified guns from the Takara Tomy Encore 4-packs where the smaller wing guns are cylinders instead of cones.

Yep, I've got these four several times over, but the packages, like all of these reissues, are glorious!

Wouldn't the Marvel comics have been what proved the original idea since Marvel basically built all of these characters?

Not necessarily, since Marvel co-produced the cartoons. The most telling thing about the whole Rumble/Frenzy thing was that Rumble was identified as a red robot along with the rest of the season 1 Decepticon cast, which excluded blue Frenzy, according to the original G1 cartoon bible. Somehow things got flipped around and Rumble ended up with Frenzy's blue color scheme. Takara got it right with the colors and names though and referred to the blue robot as Frenzy in the original Japanese dub. You can make whatever argument you want to make, but it's supposed to be blue Frenzy and red Rumble. A mistake with the US cartoon is the only reason fans continue to have this debate, which I totally get, because Rumble will always be blue in the cartoon to me, despite the toys having blue Frenzy and red Rumble.
