My favorite band is actually Def Leppard who I saw on Wedenesday night for the third time. Styx and Foreinger was all there, but due to traffic and NO traffic control (we're talking a hour and a half to go a mile) I missed Styx.

I love Wierd Al. His stuff's hilarious. Amish Paradise rocks.
Have you tried MC Chris? He's the Wierd Al of hip hop.

Genres, all over the place. Mostly rock and metal, but a lot of what I like is something else entirely.
Bands and artists?
Lacuna Coil is right at the top. The only band (currently active, anyway) that me and the missus will actually tour-chase as much as we're able.
Close behind is Duke Special.
Easyworld (who we did tour-chase with alarming regularity, but who are now sadly defunct)
X Is Loaded (ditto)
Fulc
Ben Folds (and his Five)
Weird Al
Sack Trick
Pillow Talk
Soundgarden
Dresden Dolls
The Ga*Ga*s (now defunct and pretty much reformed as Slaves to Gravity)
Incubus (not so much the latest album, but everything else)
Muse (again, going downhill somewhat now, but still listen to the earlier stuff a lot)
Foo Fighters
Tracy Bonham
S Club
Alison Krauss and Union Station
Offhand...
Also listening to quite a bit of Faith No More, mostly over my girlfriend's shoulder, so to speak...

Does anyone else commonly notice that toy collectors love metal in general??
My teenage faves definitely lie with metal
from the basics like sepuls, pantera, metallica etc right throught to slipknot, carcass and even the likes of morbid angel.

Lunica Coil is killer. I saw them a few years back as Livestock, a local radio station's weekend rockfest. They have now stopped that show and it has been reborn, but not as great.
I'd glad someone else listens to the Dresden Dolls. I love their sh!t.

Nice contradiction, AiC isn't metal.
You're wrong and right.
AiC is progressive/grunge, BUT unlike most other bands in that category they have their roots way more in (heavy) metal than in punk music (listen to most of their riffs).
Some of their songs could definitely be classified as metal by some.

I always considered Alice in Chains to be grunge metal

Nah, just Grunge. That whole sound out of Seattle in the early '90's is distinctive to itself.
Pearl Jam
Mother Love Bone
Soundgarten
Nirvana
Alice in Chains
Hole
They all sound similar in some way or another. They are heavy in a radio since, but not metal.
They fall into the ambiguous Alternative category. Alternative to whatever else there was at that time.
Now, I'm not saying, they couldn't be played on a metal station, "I'm the man in the Box..."
But Grunge is it's own classification.

I like (goth?) Metal, regular metal, drum n bass, techno and indie.
best bands in order are:
1. Nightwish music is just phenomenal.
2. Prodigy
3. Bloc Party
4. Papa Roach
5. Korn
6. 3 Doors Down
7. Disturbed
I like anything with a good tune and a kicking drumbeat, tenacious D are just funny, jack blacks lyrics are crazy, I recommend typing "tenacious D Tribute" into youtube, funny stuff.

The new stuff from Tobias Sammet's Avantasia is absolutely great. I love Edguy and this stuff is outstanding. Can't wait for the Scarecrow album.
As always though, #1 remains Iron Maiden. World Tour comming in '08.

Classic Rock. The old stuff. AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Pink Floyd. Yeah.
I also have some interest in Japanese Rock (J-rock). Gackt and Hitomi Takahashi are both really good.
