Best Comic Series for Starters?
So, BotCon this year made my Transformers spirit go up a lot, and I wanna get into one of the comic series's. Any recommendations on the best? There's so many, I just wanna know which ones are in the same continuity, and which one I should start with? I only wanna get one of the newer ones, that doesn't have 50+ issues already that I'd have to get caught up on. I think Robots In Disguise is the newest one? Which one should I get into?

Both More than Meets the Eye and Robots in Disguise are EXCELLENT in every way. Brilliantly written and beautifully illustrated. They are both four issues into their run. Run out and pick them all up now or wait for the trade paperbacks coming out in a month or two. Either way, get 'em. These are the best TF comics I've ever read (granted, I've never read any Marvel or UK stff from Furman, just his IDW work).
One more thing, if you can get the "Death of Optimus Prime" one shot, do it. It kicked both current series off. It'll probably be collected in one of the trades. One good thing about the current books, though, is that they have recaps to catch everyone on the inside cover.

I never got a chance to read The Death of Optimus Prime, but I haven't really needed to. I started with MTMTE and RID,and the recaps on the inside covers do a great job of summarizing the story. I really like both, but RID could be better. But you need to start with MTMTE #1 first, because RID starts immediately after MTMTE #1. Plus, MTMTE is hard to catch up with if you don't read #1.

You don't NEED to read The Death of Optimus Prime to enjoy both of the new series, but it sure is one great comic book. Written by both Roberts and Barber and featuring some of Nick Roche's best artwork with beautiful digital paints by Josh Burcham. It's well worth it if you can track it down.
I don't understand why RiD is getting a cooler reception than MtMtE. It's definitely a very different book than MtMtE. I think it's a well done political thriller and Andrew Griffith has quickly become one of my all time favorite TF artists. I really can't wait to see how this series plays out.
Since most of the discussions of these books center around the stories and their writers, I want to point out that the coloring on both of these books is some of the best I've ever seen, TFs or not. They take Griffith and Milne's incredible artwork to the next level and really enhance the storytelling.
If you can't tell, I'm really in love with these books! TF comic fans have never had it this good!

I think I'll get them anyway, but are they set in the aligned continuity that TF Prime, WFC, etc. are in? Since I don't have platforms for the games, I wanna catch up on the history in some way.

IDW TF is its own universe, separate from everything else but mostly based on G1. If you want to collect IDW TF, try the IDW TF hardcover collections. There are currently six available and go for around $30 on Amazon.
