I am happy to see he isn't a partsformer and you can leave the lens on to transform him. That makes him a little better in my book, still probably wont buy one.

I thought I saw (captions) "in addition to taking beautiful high quality pictures" in the video, and I checked a few times to be sure

It's similar to the AU KDDI Keitai bots; they had a "Bluetooth phone notification light" that flashed when connected to your phone (which already flashed an LED if we got a notification).

Apart from the PC peripheral parts, the only "recent" TFs that functioned the same as their alt modes were the music label Soundwave, Rumble and Frenzy, which turned into an MP3 player and headphones respectively. I loaded sound/voice samples of G1 Soundwave onto mine and popped a cheap and small(ish) unpowered external speaker into the headphone jack on his shoulder (Which could be bought from a ¥100 shop). I'm surprised that MP Soundwave didn't have such a feature built into him.

Anyway, from what my Japanese friends have said, none of the camera bots work as cameras. The robot parts in the lense would interfere for a start:

Yeah, that's the same video he was referring to. It doesn't take subtitles to see there's absolutely no way that works as a real camera in any way.

I suppose they could have included a very cheap digital camera setup in this toy (the kind sold as "spy cameras" to kids at dollar store/pound shops), and i might look into a way to do it when ai get my Optimus version (which, btw, is currently cheaper than the RRP of ¥19man, selling at around ¥17man). However, the quality wouldn't really match the Canon brand and I doubt it would be made by Canon. If they did make such a camera feature, it would no doubt double the price.

Edit: - Something like these, perhaps stuffed into part of the insides, or disguised as a "flash" and attached to the the relevant port?

I mean sure it'd be nice if it actually functioned as a camera, and given the sort of lenses they squeeze into phones these days it is entirely plausible.

But then you also have to factor in software and someplace for the battery at which point it starts to be almost implausible.

I have no doubt that once he's released someone will make it work though. :lol:

With how hollow these the Transformers usually are, I think for someone with enough skills will more than likely do it.

Device Label Blaster isn't just a replica laptop, he's a 4-port USB 2.0 hub.

Unfortunately it's showing as out of stock because it's detecting you as being from outside Japan. If you log out or block your location it'll show up as available for pre-order. It wont ever go up for order for the rest of us because it's sold and shipped by "Takara Tomy Mall Amazon Store".

Is Reflector and Refraktor spelled the same way in Japan? Just realized the translations are coming up with Reflector, but Takara Tomy writes his name in English as Refraktor like the Siege figure.

That's strange. I've never encountered TT Mall selling at Amazon. Could this be a dodgy seller? If it's legit and they sell all of the same exclusives via Amazon Japan, I might use them for such products, as TT Mall doesn't accept credit-debit cards.
